  1. Junior Fat Too is gone from TNA. He wanted more money than they wanted to pay, so buh-bye. No loss at all for TNA.
  2. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) Local H is still around?????????? Yep, and they still make more wonderful noise than most full bands.
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) They have some talent, sure. But they have played terribly to start this year and are a mess of a team. You need to find a way to win that game. Keith nor I are jumping ship, far from it, just pissed we can't beat that team at home. There are going to be growing pains, we all realize that. I just want the Hawks to have this town as a whole interested come March because they are somewhere in the mix for the 8 spot. That means no 8 or 9 game losing streaks in November or January, hopefully. I'm just afraid of the "season killer" road trips (circus and ice show) with all the young guys the Hawks are counting on. Veterans like Perreault, Lang, Lapointe and Samsonov are going to have to contribute on those trips (and just in general) to take some pressure off the youngsters.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHv3qO_Y8kk Shakira and Danzig = funny!
  5. Add me to the Angels camp. Less pressure than the Red Sawkz or Mets, and just as much cash.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) "ME MAKE YOU TAP!!!! ME WIN COOKIE!!!!!"
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 02:30 AM) Does he still DJ at Smart Bar once a week? Will they be playing their usual NYE gig at DD this year? Oh, Christ, I haven't been to Smart Bar in AGES. Probably close to two decades since I set foot in there. I don't know what goes on there anymore at all. Local H is playing Subterranean this New Year's Eve. Double Door hasn't announced their NYE show yet, so now I'm wondering if there's some bad blood there. Weird...
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) I wonder why they didn't play? They're always heavily invovled in that show. It was probably by choice and I bet they were there somewhere. That's a funny contest idea. Those guys are the two least rock star guys you'll ever meet. Very down to earth. Scott was on Local 101 last year around the 10th anniversary of the Halloween show, and he said enough was enough for him. He was heavily involved in arranging the show - which bands would perform, who they'd be, and all that, and he said he needed a break from it. (I guess it cut into his side project time - aside from the Ministry/RevCo/Pigface guys, Scott has more side projects than anyone else I know of) I didn't see Scott or Brian walking around, so unless they had one of the "headed" costumes (I saw a couple Homer Simpsons walking around, and some other costumes with head ornaments) they weren't visible at the show as far as I saw. I'm guessing they'll play it next year. Sounded like Scott just didn't want to deal with it this year.
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) The Maquerade Ball at DD was one of my favorite nights in Chicago. I'm confused, Blackbox went as Local H? Did Scott Lucas or Brian play at all ?.....and yes Brian loves birds and you'd better be one hard hitting MF if you wish to imitate him. This was the first year that Local H wasn't involved in the DD Halloween show at all, so the first band portrayed after their involvement was....Local H! (A fact the Blackbox singer "complained" about as Scott - "we headline this thing EVERY YEAR, and now we're OPENING???") Local H heard about this, and now they're having a contest on their website where bands can send in a picture of themselves as Local H for a shot at opening a Local H show AS Local H. I thought that was very cool!
  10. So I went to the Double Door Halloween show last night - good times! The highlight for me was definitely Blackbox as Local H. They started with Scott "firing" Joe and Brian moving from roadie to drummer. They also made fun of Brian's love for Cheap Trick and his interest in ornithology. (Apparently Brian likes birds, who knew?) Blackbox's drummer is one HARD-HITTING dude! God damn!!! You could see pieces of his drumsticks splintering off and flying around all during the set. My ears were buzzing after they played, and they were on first! My wife's favorite was (of course) The Sleepers as Pearl Jam. They dressed the part perfectly, except maybe for the Sox cap on "Eddie's" head. The singer looked like Eddie, made all the Eddie faces and moved like him, but didn't sing like him at all. Overall, though, they did a nice job, complete with "Neil Young" coming on stage for Rockin' In The Free World. Next were The Midnight Shows as Culture Club. Uhhhhh.......not good. They didn't look or sound like them, their backup singers couldn't sing, and the whole thing was sloppy and kind of sad. The less said about them the better. Thunderwing was next as The MC5. They did a very nice job of looking and sounding like them, but I don't like the MC5 at all, so their set did nothing for me. Their bass player looked a lot like Steve Zahn, so that was interesting, I guess. Catfish Haven was next as The Misfits. The band did a great job of recreating the buzzing, bass-heavy sound of early Misfits, but the Danzig guy kind of overplayed his role and it took a lot away from the sound. It was funny that he wore one of those muscle jackets to appear more like Danzig, and the facepaint over the full, thick beard was funny, but he sang so loudly he was overmodulating. Good stuff, not great stuff. I didn't stick around for The Last Vegas portraying Alice Cooper - I had enough at that point, and I still had about an hour's drive home ahead of me, so we headed out. A few notable costumes: a couple people had the same "Bret Michaels and skank" idea the wife and I were thinking about (we didn't end up dressing in costumes), a couple guys dressed as Bartleby and Loki from "Dogma", and the probable favorite of the Soxtalk community would be the "Dick In A Box" guy. He looked EXACTLY like the Andy Samberg character, he had a box strapped to his groin, and inside the box was a blue light and a bunch of pictures of people named Dick (Cheney, Clark, and so on).
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 01:34 PM) If you find you can't tell the difference between Jerry Owens and Jerry Reinsdorf, I'd say it's time to consult the Jerry Manuel. I had no problem with Jerrys, but I couldn't tell the difference between Charlie Liebrandt and Charlie Hough, so it was a good thing I had my Charlie Manuel. J.D. Drew a nice picture, but Stephen Drew a better one. It is not true that David Lee Roth is Larry Rothschild.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 27, 2007 -> 06:32 AM) Hmmmm; Now I'm just throwin this out there. I love seeing Marty play as much as anyone, but to be paying $6M a season to someone as injury prone as Havlat has become quite a risk for the Hawks, so would the offer above tempt you to trade Havlat? It would be tempting to see what Tallon could get in return, but the same injury history that tempts you to trade him would make other GMs leery of giving up too much for him.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) I've never been in the Sears Tower legally. Hmmmm.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) I've never jumped off the Empire State Building. But you would if your FRIENDS did, wouldn't you???? ....kids these days....
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) Bad Brains, Stiff Little Fingers and 7 Seconds don't get bolded letters? I for one would be hoping that Raygun joins SLF for a rousing version of "Suspect Device"! I never really was too into any of those bands, just a song or two here and there. In fact, I don't really know if I've ever heard a Bad Brains song. (That might belong in the "well, I never...." thread)
  16. I could fill a medium-size notebook with the popular TV shows and movies I've never seen. Just a few off the top of my head: Godfather series Anchorman Forrest Gump Terminator Friends Frasier ER Sopranos Also never been to a strip club, and don't have any desire to. I don't want the "attention" of women who pretend to like me until my money's gone (insert marriage joke here), and I don't like to part with my precious George Washingtons anyway.
  17. Chris Masters is apparently a graduate of the Bruiser Brody School Of Ring Psychology: source: www.f4wonline.com There was an incident involving Undertaker and Chris Masters during a Taker & Kane vs. Finlay & Masters match last week at a house show in Scotland. It all started when Taker started working over Masters' arm early in the match. Masters tagged out and just stood there on the apron without selling the pain. On the other side of the ring, Taker was gesturing to Masters as if to say, "Sell your arm, dumbass." Masters still wasn't doing anything, and then Taker actually yelled it across the ring. Masters sold a bit and then apparently forgot again. Masters was tagged back into the match, and apparently Undertaker roughed him up, blooding and perhaps breaking his nose. Masters then started having trouble breathing and got completely blown up. He finally rolled out of the ring and sold like he'd hurt his arm legit. As it turns out, Masters actually dislocated his elbow at some point. Some guys came out and took Masters to the back. Finlay finished the rest of the match alone. That was the last time Masters wrestled on the tour. Also, a photo of Masters wearing a sling on his arm turned up online, so his injury was serious.

  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) THA FYOOOCHAHHHHHH!!!!!
  20. First day Satan can ice skate is November 11th, according to Rozner: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=62313
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 08:51 AM) Candice Michelle took a nasty bump last night and received a concussion and broke her collar bone. It was a face first bump off the top that her and Beth Phoenix have been doing on house shows and tours. She will be out 4-6 weeks. Unfortunate becase Candice had improved big time in the ring in my opinion. Hopefully we get Mickie James back in the title picture. Ahhhh, it's probably just a work so Candice can get some plastic surgery done. I didn't see it (I had gone to bed by then), but I read online that it was a pretty sick bump and that her shoulder area looked all messed up afterwards. I agree about her improving in the ring, it's too bad she'll be out of action.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Isnt tonite the night that Jericho should return? Hasnt the code been showin 1022 Save Us anyone else watching? I thought it was 222_Save_Us? I'm watching, flipping between Raw and the MTL/BOS game on Versus, but I'm bored so I'm heading to bed soon.
  23. I was worried about Kane's relative lack of size, but he doesn't seem to shy away from anything and seems strong on his skates. It's a weird feeling to be excited about Blackhawks hockey again, but it's a GREAT kind of weird!
  24. And Toews has scored a point in every NHL game he's played so far.
  25. It wouldn't be difficult at all to fit Hawks games into their schedule. When the Bulls aren't playing, what else does CSN have on their winter schedule? This is good news - I hope they can get this done!
