  1. My wife just told me she saw one of those jackets at the rally. I said, "Really? MC Hammer was there???"
  2. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) You guys are right. It just pisses me off to see someone trample all over our success. It is an act of hubris I tell you. No, it's an act of f***tardery, an act of s***headitude, and an act of dumbassedness. Pay no attention to the cackling hens. Just remember two things: "Weeneen ees fung and fung ees weeneen" And "Dee beer tayss bedder wenn yoo ween"
  3. Ugh, did the Sox just win the 1991 World Series? Cuz that's where that jacket belongs. Yikes.
  4. Home, watching with the Mrs. Nowhere else I'd rather be.
  5. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Cub fans are so jealous of our success they go on about stupid excuses. My friend typed this up in his blog. What should I say back? Any suggestions? Top Ten Reasons Why the White Sox Still Suck? 1. They can't speak english 2. Sox belong on my feet 3. They need to go out of this country for talent 4. They didn't play against the angels best pitcher, for long,: roberto colon(injured) 5. They didn't play against, for long, Roger Clemens(injured) 6. The Red Sox best pitcher in game 1 of the playoffs in round one was matt clement, he sucks. 7. Minute Maid park roof was open, so Astros got screwed. 8. A.J. Persinski ran to first when he shouldnt of and got the call. 9. They got lucky. 10. CUBS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ______ I should tell him its spelled Pierzynski Ignore your friend and his atrocious spelling, punctuation and grammar, think about last Wednesday and smile.
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) You are correct, however Konerko's daddy did come out and say that Konerk wasn't going to give the White Sox a discount. That's true, and I've never heard a word from "DadRam". That's a good reason to choose one player over another, let's go get him!
  7. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) ...and what Pedro Martinez wasn't extremely popular in Boston? I think the Red Sox situation last year, and the Konerko situation this year is quite similar. People move on, people forget, and if the true baseball fans such as you and I can live with the fact that Kenny Williams stood strong and made the right move, I think that in itself is a more important statement. ...but Konerko never said the Twins were his Daddy...
  8. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) I got one of those and the pic had Dickie in a Phillies hat HAHA!!! Fantastic!!! What an idiot.
  9. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) Manny would be added only if Konerko is not resigned. Therefore Dye would play first as has been indicated, with Podsednik moving to right, and Manny playing in left. Pod would move to CF, Rowand to RF and The Butcher in LF. As an outfielder, Ramirez is a helluva DH.
  10. http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_colum...ariottis_y.html Eric Zorn provides all the hilarious flippity-floppity rantings of everyone's favorite Chicago sports media know-it-all. Enjoy....I know I did..... Thanks to WSI for the thread where I found the link, by the way - credit where due.
  11. Congrats King & Queen Prawn!!! to a lifetime of happiness!
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) Its either that, or retire the name forever. I can't decide. Maybe I need to do a poll??? I nominate "PostMaster General" as your new name.
  13. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) "this debate" ? Didn't realize we were in one People keep bringing up Beane because of how KW was portrayed, or seen to be portrayed, in Moneyball. That is the "debate" in question. All I'm saying is, a WS title = "I'm better than you".
  14. The thing about Joe Crede is: I don't think he'll ever hit .300 at the major-league level, and he'll frustrate us again with those damn popups, but from the 7th inning on, I don't know of anyone on this team I'd rather have at the plate with the tying or winning run on base. Crede has demonstrated an ability to get the CLUTCH hit that is very rare. Oh, and he should NEVER go close-cropped again with the hair. He NEEDS some hair floppin' under that cap.
  15. JR gave Kenny a little more money and Kenny spent it very well. THAT is Moneyball. When.....sorry, IF.....Beane ever fields a World Championship team, this debate can be resumed. Until that day, Kenny Williams > Billy Beane.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Its just like anything else...the earlier you get there the better it will be for you. There were hundreds of people lined up at the rally stage at 8:00 this morning. I'm sure they'll tell you it was perfect. Well, that may be, but is it too much to ask to point a speaker or two at the 1,000s of people behind the stage area? I took days off for the games or the days after the games, I was NOT burning one for a pep rally.
  17. It's all downhill from here. Next year we'll want KW fired, we'll second-guess every move Ozzie makes, we'll b**** about that overpaid primadonna Konerko OR we'll talk s*** about him in another uniform, while also b****ing about JR's tightwad ways, we'll go right back to the dumbass "Judy" remarks, and USCF will be half-full most nights. But for THIS season, it's forever cast in gold and untouchable. Thank you Mr. Reinsdorf, Mr. Williams, Sr. Guillen, and every player, coach, Sox employee, and Sox Fan involved in this championship season.
  18. The part of the motorcade I saw was great. We were right where the trolleys stopped before turning onto LaSalle. Yelled some stuff to AJ and Bobby. The rally was s***. Couldn't get anywhere near it, couldn't see or hear a thing. The only thing I saw was a bunch of dips***s climbing on the Trio Video truck. I'd give the entire deal a B-.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Were you at the game? I was in the second balcony for most of the game. Then went to the mezzanine for most of the third. No one was in the mood to enforce tickets. My buddy Joe had season tickets and I wanted to see him. Great to see the Cup in person, sad to see a Penguin holding it. No, I was able to see some playoff games, but not the Finals. I had split some season tickets with 3 other guys, so I got a later game ( six, I think? ), which obviously went unused. Kind of glad I didn't have to be there in person to see the wrong team win it. That would suck.....kind of like it sucked for Astros fans. ( Sorry, but I had to cheer myself up after thinking about the Blackhawks for too long ) I took a picture with the Cup once, when they had it at the UC for a charity thing. 5 bucks per shot, "NO TOUCHING IT!!!!!!" even though EVERYONE did, including me.
  20. QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) Eight Men Out was on last night. I actually watched that before Game 1 of the Series....for GOOD LUCK...... I could watch that movie any time at all, I love it.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Once the Blackhawks finally win a Stanley Cup, all the major professional sports teams in Chicago will have won in my adult lifetime. I was a wee lad when the Hawks last hoisted Lord Stanley's Cub. I was two years away from existing when the Hawks last carried the best trophy in any sport around the ice, and 1992 was the best chance I had to see them win it again. It stung to see the wrong team carrying it around the Stadium ice, I'll tell you that. The Blackhawk organ-I-zation is stuck in neutral.
  22. ....I don't like that movie at all.... (ducking)
  23. Jeez, it's a bit early for that, isn't it?
  24. See how life throws you a curveball?? For YEARS, I always thought Takei and Sheryl Swoopes were an item.....
  25. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 05:36 AM) For out of towners, will this be broadcast on WGN? There's a Sox celebration show at 10am on WGN, according to the Sun-Times.
