QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) on the topic of winning items...has anyone won or know anyone that has won the 50/50?? A buddy of mine won 1100 bucks at one of the Sox/Cub games. I know a couple casinos and racetracks that are VERY happy right now....

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, your prison ID number will be higher than SS2K5's post count....naaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh, COULDN'T be.........

QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) Pretty close for being in green. Yeah, not too bad, huh? I only thought both offenses would be SLIGHTLY more horrible than they were.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) Pods Rowand Iguchi Konerko Uribe DH Dye Pierzynski Crede And no sacrificing guys over to second base when they're on first with no outs for the first 6 innings. I agree. Try some hit-and-running or straight steals. Save the situational baseball for late-inning game situations. However, I have NO problem with bunting a runner from 2nd to 3rd with 0 outs at any point in the game. Sounds weird, I know, but I'm OK with setting up the sac fly anytime. This team hits LOTS of flyballs, might as well make one count.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) you're such a hippy sometimes YEAH, REALLY! I can almost smell the patchouli and BO from here!!! ....wait....was that a Personal Attack.....???

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 06:54 AM) Im with you Palesox, that was an amazing show. Also, it was the biggest and most multipurposed stage I have ever seen. I overheard someone saying that it takes 70 trucks to move all of their stuff, I wouldnt have believed it until i was actually inside. Really amazing. Jagger has more energy than I have had in the past 5 years, and I am 27. That's cuz they freeze him until 1/2 hour before each show.

The Sox are in no position to go with a B lineup right now. Get the damn division clinched and THEN rest the regulars.
-
I know you're joking ( or at least being sarcastic, cuz I LIVE in the green ), but if by some disastrous stretch the Sox qualify as the Wild Card, I think I'd be too pissed off to watch them in the playoffs.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Maybe because I am evil? But I wasn't always that way, you know. Yeah, yeah.....it's SOCIETY'S fault.... You know, whenever I see your screen name, it reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Dr. Evil: "I didn't go through 8 years of Evil Medical School to be called MISTER...."

Mark Messier Expected To Retire
The Critic replied to Ozzie Montana's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Now that Messier's retiring, which pro athlete looks most like Frankenstein? If Lance Armstrong returns to the Tour de I-Don't-Care, I'd select him. -
I'd go, unless Ozzie's fielding a "clear the bench" Sunday lineup. He usually does that if the Sox have won a series, though, and with KC coming up he'll probably play the regulars today. Go and have fun!!!!

Maybe people are saving their money for playoff tickets. ...that doesn't explain why EvilMonkey couldn't give one away, though.....I'd speculate, but I don't want to draw myself into a "Personal Attack Spanish Inquisition"..... EDITED to apply the proper green font.

I feel terrible for Shingo. This has got to be killing him. He was a complete class act when he was with the Sox, and he was my favorite Sox player in 2004. I really hope he can somehow turn it around. Like others on the board have suggested, I think his problems are centered around getting ahead of hitters. If he puts himself into hitter's counts, he's going to get slapped around. If he gets ahead of guys, he can get them guessing about what's coming next. He's a guy who NEEDS to be ahead in the count. GOOD LUCK SHINGO!!!!

I'd go with True Romance too. But since that's not an option, I'll choose Pulp Fiction.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) Trust me, there is nothing wrong with anything in this thread. We are looking to avoid the BJs for PT kind of stuff. And really just for cluttering threads sake, if anyone sees a problem with a thread, they can either report the thread with a note as to why, or they can PM any admin they see on-line (well except Gage, he'll just forget about it anyways) and they can adress any concerns. Posting stuff in a thread, just kinda clutters it and takes away from the original intent of the thread Thanks SS Personal attack BOLDED above.....wait, was I supposed to PM that???

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Instead of cruising into the playoffs, we're gonna have to fight like hell. We shall see. This actually can be a good thing for the Sox. In 2000, the Sox had nothing to fight for down the stretch and they got waxed by Seattle. MAYBE playing some meaningful games against a hot Jndjans team could prep the Sox for playoff baseball. ....that's the glass-half-full way I choose to see it today, anyway.....check back later, my Inner Pessimist may have taken over by then.....

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) There were over 200 between the two boards, I think they will do it again. If we schedule early this time, we can get a premo night instead of a crappy night against a worse team. Actually this might be a good time to start thinking of idea for things next year. I like the idea of doing the core of the core again, and also playing a softball game, (either by ourselves or vs WSI) in addition to the regularly scheduled tailgates that happen throughout the season. Any other cool ideas for stuff we could do around Sox games?? Over 200, huh? Not bad, all things considered. So did it shake down like this? WSI - 192 Soxtalk - 9

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:39 AM) I heard they were going to rename themselves the Kidney Stones. ...that would take some gall...........................................stones............................

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) He ain't Freddy, but from a couple cuts, he wasn't all bad either. Just have to know what to expect. Exactly, and that's why I can't get behind Paul Rodgers fronting Queen. When I hear Brian May's guitar sound, and then hear a classic Queen riff, I expect to hear Freddie's voice. As I said before, Paul Rodgers is a fine singer, but when I hear Queen I hear Freddie and I don't really want to hear anyone else's voice. But that's just my opinion, and I hope you have a great time if you get to see them in concert!

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Well, that makes sense. It seemed like, from the posts, that people had trouble identifying one another. Next year will be way better, I'm sure. I wonder if the turnout was high enough for them to even consider doing that again next year?

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) I am disappointed that I can't get the the Queen + Paul Rodgers concert that will be in the US in October. Have fun seeing the Stones! I heard Queen Lite doing "Keep Yourself Alive" and I thought Paul Rodgers was awful. He's a good singer, but I don't think his voice is suited for Queen songs.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Good to see someone's been attending their Foreign Exchange Currency Classes........ And are we talking 1 or 2 litres here? Usually coke is about $1 a litre in a supermarket, while if you buy it at say a fast food joint, 600ML can cost over $2.50. A rip - off. You wanna talk about cola-related ripoffs? I was picking up a pizza yesterday and I asked the guy how much a 6-pack of Pepsi costs. He said "$4.25". I said "Huh????" He said, "yeah, it's way too much...." It's the first time I ever thought the $1.69 two-liter bottle at 7-11 was a bargain.

Game Thread Angels vs Sox 9/10 12:15 CT
The Critic replied to Ozzie Montana's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Looks like the Sox better take care of business head-to-head against the Jndjans and Twinks.
