Is Comcast SN acting funny for anyone else?

CLTV, always keeping the best interests of the viewers in mind, are showing non-stop COMMERCIALS while they try to find the retarded monkey who runs the satellite feed. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) And the Twins would care why...? Well, the Twins probably had advance scouts at the game, so they MIGHT care.... I think we're all so used to being involved with the Twins this late in the season that we just automatically go into "Twins Mode". -
Glad to hear that the LD is sold out - I have to say, that right field bleacher section looked a little sad last night. But once again, those who were there.....LOUD AS HELL!!!! Nice work, folks!!!

I hear that Mickey Rourke wants to try this procedure to fulfill a long-time dream of looking more like Mickey Rourke.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Just because you criticize doesn't mean you're not a hardcore Sox fan; if you didn't care you wouldn't bother. I wish more people would get THIS. We wouldn't get so pissed off if we were "Cub fans" or "bandwagoners" or whatever. Some people process the bad times differently from others, but no one way of dealing with it is more "correct" than any other. In my mind the point is, we're all Sox fans here ( except for the trolls, and f*** them in the ass with a machete anyway ), if we didn't give a s*** we wouldn't be wasting our time here. Be you a "DARK CLOUD" or a "SUNSHINER", you're still a Sox fan, so HANG ON TIGHT and let's see how this all plays out. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) But I seem to remember that those games we swept the Indians in we still didn't look anything like the team in the beginning of the season. I haven't felt good about our chances since that sweep before the break. Wasn't it Boston that did us in? It was Oakland. I was at that Saturday game. Ouch. With my Cub fan/A's fan nephews. Double ouch. Surrounded by random A's dopes. Triple ouch.

QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) The Sox were pieced together, on a whim and a prayer, for one regular season. The Indians were built for a series of title runs and currently are a model of cost efficiency, with a $41 million payroll that is nearly one-half that of the Sox. Knowing the Sox face intense pressure not to become the all-time chokers, the intruders were only happy to contribute to the squeezing anxiety. I don't agree with this. Yes, the Indians have a lot more young stars than the Sox, but I have no reason to believe we can't compete for a few more years (assuming we retain Buehrle and Garland). We already have Garcia locked up, in addition to AJ, Iguchi and Dye. Sure, we could lose Konerko to free agency, but the bottom line is that this team - right now - is built around those big 3 starters. As long as they are here, we will contend. We may not have the horses that Cleveland has, but we are not a team built for one season. No, apparently they were built for HALF a season...... AYE'M YOOST KEEEDEEEEENG.....aye theeenk.......

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) I will be in chat tonight. I cant stomach going down there again to deal with the f***ing injun fans in the upper deck again. For once, I was in a section with almost NO fans of the opposition. THANK YOU, section 151!!!! It was SUCH a relief - I seem to always get stuck next to some busload of f***tards from the opponents' city! Even at Blackhawk games, I'd get stuck next to people from PITTSBURGH and f***ing OTTAWA!!!! WTF?????

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 07:33 AM) does anyone know what the average payout schedule is for signing bonuses for those drafted in the 7th, 8th or 9th round? ....SOMEBODY wants to be a sports agennnnnnnnnnt........

The nice thing about this place is that even in the gloomiest thread, there's usually some fact or stat or idea that makes me think "hmmmm.....never looked at it that way......." And I agree, THANKS to Jason and everyone else involved in making Soxtalk my #1 place to blab on the 'Net.

QUOTE(DMoneyIsMine @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) They ain't the Brewers or the Cubs. Since becoming a franchise, 70% of all the White Sox' seasons have been winning ones, so when you say they have a poor history as a team, you're a moron. They are a perennial good and competitive team. And you should all be proud that the Sox are always good and always enjoyable to follow. wow. winning a few more games than you lose is nice, but not exactly a successful history as a team. unless success is defined as being slightly better than average, but never a champion. ( edited to add that I'm referring to being a champion when anyone under the age of 100 can remember it ) the Brewers have been to a World Series in my lifetime, so even they had a nice flash in the pan season. The Sox haven't done that since I've been alive.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) I'm good luck. Let's see what I can do. I hope you can do better than I did. Before last night, they were 5-1 with me in attendance. Best of luck to you and your mojo.....

I had a nice Monday, weather excepted. Took my little one to school, read the paper a bit until it was time to get her. Watched a little bit of "Mr. Show" during the afternoon. Once my wife got home, we packed a "goodie bag" and headed out to USCF. Enjoyed the game, unfortunately the game went south after we left in the top of the 8th. ( My daughter was sleepy and I also had to get up at 4 this morning to come to work.....so sue me....heh..... ) Plus, it was my wedding anniversary yesterday, so a lot of "I love you"s were thrown around ( more than usual, even ), which is always a nice thing.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) You've heard the Rodgers stuff??? Where!?! You're not gonna believe this....ON THE RADIO!!!!! The Loop has been playing a couple songs off the "return of the champions" CD. I've heard Tie Your Mother Down and Fat Bottomed Girls, and I was underwhelmed. I just think Rodgers' voice, while perfectly fine for Bad Company stuff, etc., is just too flat and unexpressive for Queen's material.

Excellent website! Added it to my favorites as well. One nice side benefit was being able to hear the Thin Lizzy "One Night Only" disc. I had my doubts about Lizzy without Phil Lynott, but whoever was singing ( I heard somewhere it was John Sykes, but I'm not sure about that ) did a damn good job of sounding enough like Phil to pull it off. Unlike the Queen/Paul Rodgers thing, in my opinion. Hearing that CD makes me want to see Lizzy if they tour again.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) No one wants the shame and humiliation of "blowing" a 15 game lead. But at some point people are going to have to step back and accept the fact that Cleveland has played great baseball the last month and a half. I just hope the Sox stay aggressive tomorrow. I don't think anyone's undervaluing what the Indians have been doing. Since late April, they've been the best team in the American League. I think the frustration comes from dropping important games to teams like the Royals, getting beaten regularly ( LATELY ) by any decent ballclub, and just not looking like the team we became accustomed to seeing on a daily basis. You know, the pitching/defense/timely hitting "smart ball" team. It's odd when a 90-win team is being labelled as a choker, but in the full context of how the season has played out, it's not completely undeserved. That said, it's 100% in the hands of the team how the season ends for them. Their fate is their own, win or lose ( or die trying ). NOW GET OUT THERE AND f***ING WIN!!!!!!!
