QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) how about double tolls is you dont have one? If thats not a reason, then I dont know what is. Since I almost never take the tollway, it's worth the extra 40 cents per toll to keep the state police from being able to monitor my speed.

I voted "other" for the mix-and-match method. A little Konerko at DH/Gload at 1B. A little Dye at DH/Anderson in RF. Maybe a spot start at DH for a guy like Ozuna. But I don't think they should sit Jurassic entirely. Maybe loan him Crede's VCR so he can watch some tapes to see what he's doing wrong. Just make sure Joe gets it back so HE doesn't forget what he needs to do at the plate.

If we can hold on, who do you want in the ALDS?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) Boston, but they're going to miss out. That sounds so nice..... Red Cubs go home while the SOX go to the postseason. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) What about all of us here who have to put up with you. Oh, f*** you guys, who gives a s***??? Trust me, there is no "ignore" feature at home.....

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) We're playing right around .500 ball since then, Cleveland is just playing out of their minds. I don't know how you can call it a choke but whatever I think we're all tired of talking about this subject anyways. Lets just win the division and not worry about it. This is the part that was making my wife crazy. She unfortunately had to listen to me going around in circles: "I don't know how it can be a choke if the Sox still have the best record in the AL.....But they've lost 10 of their last 14 ( before the Twins series )...... But it wouldn't matter if Cleveland wasn't playing out of their minds.....I just don't want it to come down to next weekend in Cleveland......But in a weird way, I kinda DO want them to take the division title in Cleveland, to prove a point to them.....but that f***ing HAFNER......" and so on. The woman is a SAINT to put up with me.....

Okay, now that the home portion of the regular season is complete, what was your won-lost record for games you attended? I'll start, even though my total was a tad low: ( Tad Low = great radio name, by the way ) I was 5 and 2 for games attended, 6 and 2 if you count the 4th of July when I had to leave to go to work before the rain delay ended.....grrrrrrr...... So your turn now! What were you? A lucky charm or a dirty rotten jinx????
-
To be honest, I was fearful of the possibility, only because: I didn't expect any help from KC ( here comes the sun, doodndoodoooooo ) and I thought the Twins had more left in them than that. But ALL CREDIT goes to the Sox. That looked like the team I watched early on - fantastic starting pitching, solid defense and the timely hit. Now they need to go into Detroit and play the exact same way. GO SOX!!!!!

I'd take the one that pays the bills now, with half the driving. A lot of s*** can happen in three years to derail that potential for 6 figures. But my view is slightly tainted by the driving thing - I absolutely HATE driving anymore. Even tonight, when I get off work at 2:30 am, there are going to be WAY too f***ing many dips***s on the streets.

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) there now 4-14 in those games Hawk said early last night that they were 4-13 in the previous 17 sellouts. That would make them 5-13 now. Either way, it's NOT good.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Of course OZ says he's quiting after winning the WS, so it's all probably a mute point. Or a moot one.....

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) The nights are forever when you are missing someone and they can't email. Lying in bed with the radio on Moonlight falls like rain Soft summer nights thinking of you When will I see you again Soft and low the music means I can't stop thinking 'bout you, thinkin' 'bout you I didn't know it would be so strong Waiting and wondering about you I didn't know it would last so long Nights are forever without you Nights are forever without you The curtains still dance with the radio on The sun'll be coming up soon But I just can't sleep for thinking of you Here alone with the moon (repeat chorus) NIGHTS ARE FOREVER WITHOUT YOU by England Dan & John Ford Coley

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) I think it has more to do with who we play those days vs how many are in the stands. How many sellouts have we had against KC, Detroit, etc, and how many did we have against the Yankees, Red Sox, etc? It isn't the attendance at all. To BE a good team you must BEAT good teams, to paraphrase Ric Flair. That plays right into the main criticism I've heard about this year's White Sox - "oh sure, they can beat KC and Detroit, but who else have they beaten?" Nonetheless, s***ting their pants with a full house is BAD for repeat business.
-
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) 18th sellout this season... Harrellson said that the Sox are now 5-13 in those 18 games. I knew they were bad with a full house, but I thought it was a little better than that.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) Technically it probably is a collapse, but making the playoffs is the goal, so let the Cubs fans laugh at a collapse that still has a team in the playoffs. I'd take that collapse any year. If Buerhle, Garland and Garcia would throw the ball like BMac and Contreras the wild card wouldn't come into play. True, but by that logic then Cub fans can let Sox fans laugh at a collapse by a team that got to Game 7 of the NLCS in 2003. To me, it looks like more of a collapse than it is. If the Indians hadn't gotten white-hot, then the Sox playing sub-.500 ball wouldn't be as glaring as it is now. BUT.... the last 2 weeks have been a throat-grab of the worst kind.

Well, Paul gives me no reason to want him back next year, and no reason to NOT want him back next year. He's a puzzle, that Konerko. He can look SO good when he's crushing balls outta the park, and he can look absolutely clueless popping up and doing his Suicide Shrug. I like PK, and I think the Sox need to have some power in the lineup. I'm just not sure if he'd be worth what some other team may offer him. It will be interesting to watch his situation in the offseason.

Could the clubhouse malcontent we'd heard about finally be rearing his ugly head? Seriously, Carl, you want to stay at #3 in the order? Hit higher than .220 when the team needs you most. Ever heard of winning DESPITE someone? And by the way.....the team hasn't been winning nearly as often lately...in case you couldn't pry your head out of your ass long enough to notice.

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) LOL, I am still a young guy so I don't remember much before Manuel but I recall this story vaguely. Can anyone tell me the whole story because I remember it being hilarious. Uhhhh.....he went to call for a reliever and nobody was warming up. Not much more to it. Not there needs to be - that's funny all on its own.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) That was meant as a compliment Kid. Well, then I was 96% wrong.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) Girlie, Judy, and Teddy haven't given us any reason to think otherwise. Teddy? That's not a very good "insult". How about "Freida" or "Betty" instead, since you're going with the ever-popular "call a guy a girl, that'll really hurt him" tactic.
-
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Not so sure how to take that... I'm about 96% sure that was meant as a slap. and FWIW, I don't really care about the Cub fan/Sox fan rivalry. It's fun to go back and forth with them during interleague, but I have lots of family and friends who like the Cubs and we're able to discuss baseball in civil terms. As far as collapses go, the Sox may have a longer, slower death ( IF that is what happens ) but IMO to be that close ( leading in both Game Six and Game Seven ) and losing both games is more devastating. I guess it comes down to whether you'd rather wither away from cancer or take a bullet.

Nahhh, I'll stick with "The Crab". That's what I call Juan, cuz he looks like he runs sideways to me.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Jesus. Returning. And batting 3rd. That's about it. Frank Thomas is done for the year....

But wouldn't they better serve the CHILD by having her there, in a moralistic, non-judgmental, GAWD-FEARIN' environment, to counteract the HEATHENS in her home?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) So how are your tap and ballet lessons going? I wore the wrong shoes to ballet and kicked myself in the face.
