  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Grady Sizemore losing that flyball in the sun has sure slowed the entire Indians team down quite a bit. That's about all I'm gonna say. Brant Brown Version 2.0....
  2. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Whatever happened to that Kip chick who had no neck? She lost the pictures of the show's producer, the donkey, the midget and the Jello?
  3. Sears & Tower. Unfortunately, my lunch hour is very early, since I start my workday very early. I wouldn't be able to do any liquid lunches.
  4. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) I'll look into them. I hate the Doors though...with an intense passion I hate The Doors. I don't know if I like "retro", I just like all sorts of stuff. Critic, I would LOVE to get some more of the 70's sounding productions. IMO much of the stuff today sounds TOO friggin' perfect, too polished. I prefer the analogue sounds, and nothing, but nothing beats a nice old tube amp sound recorded in the 70's. I don't like stuff that sounds too slick either, but I like to have the guitars up front and LOUD, and too much of the 70s stuff sounds muted to me. Maybe they wanted that stuff to sound that way, with vinyl and AM radio and all that, but by and large the guitars don't have the punch I need.
  5. Another tip of the cap to Jose! He's been absolutely fantastic in the second half, and I'd have NO problem whatsoever seeing him start game one of the ALDS. Wow......who'da thunk it...... Is it time to drag THIS out of mothballs?? JOSE, JOSEJOSEJOSEEEEEEEE JOSEEEEEEEEE JOOOOSEEEEEEEEEE
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Critic and I were at the exhibition game in Milwaukee on April 1st. I can tell you that we both left that place fearful of the season. The team was TERRIBLE until the 9th inning. Then they showed some life, but up until then...phew...it stunk. Truth. That was a tough game to watch. I left that game thinking I was looking at an 85-win team at best. Shows what I know.....
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings/spring It would seem that the better teams cruised. I forgot hoe much we sucked in ST Well, one thing held true....the Cubs were 3 games under .500 in Spring Training, and that's probably where they're going to end up for the year, too....
  8. I can't watch it at work, so I'll just check in online every so often. Truth be told, I don't even have it in me to celebrate the division title anymore. As happy as I am that they're APPARENTLY going to take it, these past two months have drained any euphoria right out of me. All I'm going to do is exhale and save the celebrations for playoff series wins.
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 07:25 AM) Their entire production is pure 70's sound. So obviously up against The Darkness and their flashy 2000's production they will falter. I'm not saying these guys are the saviors or anything, but I kind of liked them. Granted, I have only listened to it the one time. Maybe they should release a "Gold Standard Re-Mastered Deluxe Limited Edition" re-release with that NEWFANGLED HIGH-FALUTIN' FLASHY 2000's production, then.... There's a REASON the 70's records sounded that way.....they were recorded IN THE 70'S!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. So I gave them a listen, and sad to say, they didn't do anything for me. Can't put my finger on what's missing, except to say that I find their guitars a little flat-sounding. I have to say it - I like The Darkness much better than them.
  11. Thanks, Kid, I'll check it out when I get home. I have my computer muted at work so I don't hear the annoying PINNNNNNG of our company's instant message system. The Darkness minus Justin Hawkins' painful yelp = very good, so I'm hoping this band has a decent singer who doesn't sound like he has his nuts in a vice.
  12. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) ...too late... ....didja at least leave your desk????
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) I have to go to the bathroom. I'm trying to decide exactly when the best time to go would be. It's a sloooooow day at work. Write a report on the pros and cons of going to the bathroom. Hold a company-wide meeting on the topic and ask for opinions. Send out an email asking for the best time to go. Count the votes and go with the winning time. I vote for 4:45pm.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Hey Music lovers, ya might wanna check out this show for Katrina relief at Metro. http://www.metrochicago.com/ Besides The Redwalls and The Ms, you guys like anyone else on the bill? I don't like any of those bands, including the Redwalls and the M's. I just saw that the Bob Mould show sold out. That's good - I'll be there tomorrow night! Hope he sells out on Friday too.
  15. Watching the Sox back into the playoffs is not much fun for me. Cheering for Tampa Bay is NOT what I was expecting on September 27th. Neither is worrying about the final weekend in Cleveland. The way they've played for the past few weeks hasn't been a lot of fun either. Let's just hope that the playoffs ARE fun....
  16. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) No, I definitely mean the "Return of the Champions" (Queen + Paul Rodgers) CD lol. There are several tribute CDs out there, but I haven't the desire to buy them yet. I listened to the first disc this morning and I was blown away by it. Paul Rodgers kicks ass. It was good to hear that Freddy's mom was there - I remember when she went on stage with Brian and Roger when Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, brought tears to my eyes. This CD is about 10000x better than I expected - best $23 I spent this year - can't wait to hear the second CD and see the included DVD! me -> Sorry, but Queen without Freddy = not Queen. I'm glad you like the CD, and I'm sure the performance is quite good, but I personally would just rather listen to the songs as performed with Freddy. If the original can't be topped, I'll stick with the original.
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) Critic was being a funny guy. Hey, what right do you have to comment on Queen or Paul Rodgers, Critic? You have told me before that you HATE classic rock. Hmmmm, maybe we found two bands that you actually DO like from the past ROCK world? Few bands are as "70's Arena Rock" as Queen and Bad Co. there are exceptions that prove every rule, and as a rule I HATE classic rock. Examples of "classic rock" bands I hate that get played on the Loop quite a bit: The Doors The Who Pink Floyd CCR Grateful Dead Rolling Stones Examples of "classic rock" bands I like: Thin Lizzy Queen Rush Boston Van Halen FWIW, Bad Company falls into that "don't like 'em but don't hate 'em" category along with bands like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles
  18. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) I am headed there after work/the gym to get that and the new Queen release! You mean the Queen tribute CD, right?
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:12 AM) Many bands also now, thanks to technology, don't even live in the same states and do much of their work and "jamming" together (and especially recording) through satellites. Well, there goes your excuse for not starting another band....
  20. I'm sure Howry had comments on that for the Cleveland writers. Besides, Tampa's not a good team, so you can't hardly blame Tribe fans for staying home.
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) f***in ay'. They were the only station to play Pantera, Lamb of God, Classic Megadeth...even if it was after hours. Don't get me wrong, "Blister In The Sun" by the Violent Femmes is JUST AS GOOD as "Symphony Of Destruction"..... :puke
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) They cant monitor your speed with radar? Is this your conspiracy theory. IPASS doesnt cost anything, it takes money straight off your debit or credit card. Using it saves you money, even if you only use the tolls once in awhile, it still costs your nothing unless you through the tolls. Sounds like being stubborn just for the sake of being stubborn to me. iPass registers what time you pass through a toll booth. it then registers the time you pass through the next toll booth. if you're speeding, not enough time will have elapsed. I'm not putting that past them... EDITED to add that I don't use the tollway enough to make iPass worth my while, and I don't speed enough ( or at high enough speeds ) to worry about anyone tracking my times.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) "everything on shuffle" means that the station's number one songs are played 30 times an hour instead of 20. With Zone gone, look for Q101 to tighten its "shuffle" up. "shuffle" = regular rotation + too many Talking Heads songs. I enjoyed the Extreme Zone after midnight, but just like 94.1 JJO in Madison, what started as a nice little hard rock/heavy metal station turned into the heavier end of the Loop's playlist. The thing I'll miss about the death of the Zone is not hearing Pantera at 3am on the way home from work on Sunday night/Monday morning.
  24. Everett's so lost at the plate lately that it looks like his eyes aren't even open. Just clueless wild swings. Uribe too, for that matter.
