  1. I've had enough time off. I'm ready to see the guys get back at it. LET'S GO WHITE SOX!! clap clap clapclapclap!!!
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) Welcome to Soxtalk As far as a slogan, "Deez Keedz Kahn Play!" HA! Yes, if ever a slogan needed to be reinstated, The Kids Can Play is the one! Everyone's a kid, even if they're a decade older than the manager!
  3. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) WHAT are you kidding me? They get a Bye if we win it all? ahhh NOOOOO Win it again.. Why do they get a bye? Why do most Chicago fans settle for avg and think happy thoughts? I want to win every single year.. no excuses. Here is my question if we let Pauly go; where does the extra money get used? If memory serves me doesn't KW get an extra 10-12 mil next year? If they win it all this year, they get a bye in my book for 2006 too. I'd love to see them go aggressively after a back-to-back, but I'll tell you what - I wouldn't be able to wipe the smile off my face for AT LEAST a year!!! I'm not gonna get greedy when this franchise has gone without for 88 years!! I WANT TO SEE THAT f***IN' PARTY AFTER 8 MORE WINS! I WANT A WORLD CHAMPIONS T-SHIRT!! I WANT A BANNER FLYING PROUDLY AT THE BALLPARK!!! I WANT TO SEE THAT TROPHY ON DISPLAY AT US CELLULAR FIELD!!!! I'll worry about next year......NEXT YEAR.....

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) If I was going to get a player's jersey, it would be Fisk, Thomas, Ventura, Aparicio .... Guys that reflect the history of the Sox. Current players come and go to quickly. But, this is just my personal way of looking at things. This could also be why some people ( myself included ) decide to personalize our jersey with our own surname or a nickname. If I'm getting an '83 jersey, I'm not putting RODRIGUEZ 22 on there. I loved Aurelio Rodriguez ( and his favorite glove, Black Magic ) when he played for the Sox, but I don't want anyone on my jersey but myself. It doesn't mean I think I'm on the Sox, it means the person in the jersey is the person ON the jersey.
  6. QUOTE(LDF @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) this was the longest post i have ever seen you post. are you ok?? Ahhhh, it only seemed longer cuz it was double- spaced .

    wierd

That's the downside of being "discovered" by all the outlets who never knew there was "another" team called the Sox. "Wow, they haven't won the World Series in a long time - they must be cursed!"
  10. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Still you can't be beat with Da Coach on your side. A lot of Bears teams got beat with "Da Coach" on their side.
  11. QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) Double posts suck Not as much as Marte did on Friday.
  12. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) I tried to warn you guys this would happen yesterday. For those of you that missed it, below is my post from another thread on why they would keep Marte. That said, expect Marte to make a major contribution in the ALCS and many of you to be eating crow! mmmmmm..........................crow...................... I got a hankerin' for some crow, I hope Marte makes me eat some. I doubt it, though.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) I might watch if they showed the games on TV but since they dont its pretty hard for me to get into them. This is their biggest organizational flaw IMO. Even really bad teams generally play better at home than on the road. If all you're showing are the road games, you're going to show more losses than wins, plus the crowd is cheering against "your" team. This plants a seed in the viewer that the Hawks aren't very good, since they lose whenever you see them. How did the Cubs become the "sweethearts" they are? By showing afternoon home games on TV, thereby indoctrinating an entire generation of kids as Cub fans. The White Sox lost a lot of fans when they pulled their games off broadcast TV and put them on ONTV and then SportsVision. The Sox are now aiming a lot of attention at kids in an effort to build long-term Sox fans, and I think they're doing it well. The Bulls had a decade-long sellout streak while showing every home game on TV. Television is a valuable marketing tool when used correctly, and the Hawks' stubbornness towards "protecting the season reservationists" is going to backfire when those reservationists die off and there's no one interested enough to pick up the available tickets.
  14. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) tell me this doesn't happen to everyone!!! Unfortunately, it happens to most people. I didn't think it would happen to me but it has, just recently. And I don't know how old you are LMB, but I'm a crusty 42 years of old, and I just haven't been as pumped up to see shows as I have been. Even when I have a ticket, I find myself making excuses why I can't or shouldn't go. So now I have decided ( finally ) to just skip seeing bands I've already seen and to just go to shows with the Mrs. We'll see if the urge returns after a break. I hope so.
  15. All this Dye-to-1B talk is just the Sox plotting out their options if Paulie gets an unmatchable offer elsewhere and they can't find a suitable replacement. I think we're all certain that KW would TRY to find a good 1B replacement before sticking an outfielder there, but you have to look t anything and everything. Any hand-wringing about this now is premature, IMO.
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Not what I would have done at all. If we lose this series, then Ozzie will be criticized regardless of what happens in Game 4. If Garland pitches great and we win the game, the question will then be why not pitch Garland earlier and give him two starts. If Jon pitches poorly and we lose the game, it's all on Ozzie for giving him such a long rest. I'd much rather switch Buehrle and Garland, especially if we're playing the Yankees. With all that said, I'm done being critical of Ozzie. He's gotten us this far and he knows the team far better than me, so it's probably a good move. The way Count has pitched since the ASG, I have no problem with him getting the extra start. Who knows how it'll play out, but he's convinced me that he's the best choice for Game One. I just wish The Walk Machine was removed from the roster. Mac did more in one month to deserve a role on the team than Marte's done in two years. So he sucks with his left arm - who cares?? It's not like Damaso Remlinger can get a lefty out anyway....
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) GET TO THE SHOW AND QUIT CRYING. Actually, I decided to pass on it after all. I've seen 'em twice already, and truth be told, I'm getting a bit tired of the concert scene. Call it old age, call it what you will, but I've had a good time at the shows I've been to lately but not near what it used to be for me. So I'm gonna use that Dinosaur ticket money to get some AL Central Champs gear instead. Needless to say, I expect a FULL, DETAILED review from you after the show.
  18. Hermie is still going to come up HUGE for this team sometime soon. I can feel it. He's been a complete class act, and exactly the type of "team first" guy who's helped get the Sox to where they are. Kudos to Dustin!!
  19. QUOTE(redsoxjamie @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) For the record, I'm not a he, I'm a she. And the "hate" here is nothing compared to some of the vitriol spewed on SoSH. Are ya HAWT??? And FWIW I agree, you've been very cool here Jamie - you're more than welcome to hang around and post your opinions!
  20. If the Sox want guys to end on a high note, then have Marte work a nice solid side session then shut him down.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 06:12 AM) I hope I don't have to settle for "AL CHAMPS". That would confuse all the Cub fans. "Who's Al Champs? Where did HE play?"
  22. Yep, Cotts needs to be THE FIRST lefty out of the pen in any situation. Hell, IMO he needs to be the only lefty in the pen at all.
  23. Also, I don't think anyone's coming out of that series in a groove. It hasn't been one-sided, and they had a rainout yesterday, which would help to kill any momentum. If it goes to Game 5, that means another cross-country flight for both teams and then a turnaround flight for the winner to get to Chicago. No advantage IMO to them still playing now.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 05:05 AM) It's much better than the chant for Ordonez was. I thought my daughter would miss the Ordonez and Valentin songs more than she has. She never mentions Jose ( nor does almost anyone else, HAHAAAAA ) and when she saw Magglio in a Tigers uni she asked me "We don't like him anymore, right Dad?" Again.....my kid RAWKZ!!!
  25. I love it because my daughter loves it. She chants PAUL-EE, PAUL-EE even at home when Konerko comes to bat. She also like to chant J-D for Dye and A-J for Pierzynski. My kid RAWKZ!!!!
