  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) You take it 2 serious what she writes is dumb and childish which makes it all the more fun for us to read... and they did win the division 3 times in a row so... Maybe I do take it too seriously, but I just don't find her interesting, funny, or entertaining. And for her to make some "grand proclamation" that just this once she'll say White Sox instead of the oh-so-clever b**** Sox just smacks of self-important attention-starvation. Ooooooh, anonymous Internet troll, thank you for the momentary respect.... OK, so she's not anonymous anymore, since a couple media outlets did blurbs on her, but still....
  2. There's a thread on here somewhere about her. And I'll say it again: f*** her and her 3rd place team. she acts like it's some kind of high honor that she controlled her stupid "insult" for 5 seconds after the Sox slapped her team around.
  3. QUOTE(Yoda @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) I absolutely adore the Cardinals but seeing Albert Pujols, one of the games best hitter, at the Cell, is just plain scary! The Astros have no one in their lineup that would be dangerous in the late innings for the exception of Berkman. Bring on the Astros! True, but on the other hand, who besides Albert is a real threat right now? Edmonds has been pretty bad, Larry Walker should be called Larry Groundoutter, and Reggie Sanders got hurt at the wrong time. But, as mentioned before, if they go into the World Series riding a 3-game comeback, it could be the Red Cubs all over again.
  4. Which leads to the next question: WHOSE minor-league assignment will Kelly end up accepting?
  5. Well, I think the Heredia case shows that steroids don't really help performance in EVERY case....
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) LOL, the odds of the Cubs signing Rafael Furcal to an $8 mill deal are slim to none, because he's looking at probably $10 mill a year atleast...and the odds of them signing Furcal and then having Marcus Giles appear out of nowhere and starting are even slimmer. And there is no way Burnett settles fo $8 mill. Not when Detroit's probably willing to throw something like 4 years, $44 mill at the very least. I think they were talking about Brian Giles. I've seen a few Brian Giles rumors, is he a FA, or is SD looking to trade him?
  7. Congratulations Ozzie! Wire to wire, 16 game improvement on an already competitive team, World Series appearance in 2nd season....there's no question in my mind he earned this award!!!
  8. My buddy Al's garage on Wednesday ( Tuesday if it's Houston ).
  9. The Hawks really need to start assuming that Daze won't play, and adjust to the situation if he's there. Back problems never completely go away, and hockey has got to be harder on a bad back than most other sports.

never. when things were bad enough to get me thinking about cheating, I ended it. call me old-fashioned....
  11. I REALLY hope the Sox are taking note of this. They need to s***can Ticketf***er and try something else.
  12. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) im on your side Yep, camping outside the Chicago Stadium was less aggravating than this.
  13. Nope, cuz ticketbastard seriously sucks.
  14. Yeah, this is bulls***. Keeps freezing up on me, then the wait time goes down, down, down, UP, UP, UP, down, UP, etc. f***ed up system. OH, LOOK, it's frozen again.....
  15. You don't know how badly I want St. Louis to come back and win this series.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 06:28 AM) I figure that anyone who wasn't a fan by 1977 is a bandwagon jumper. If you didn't live through the Hitmen and the August slide, you are a bandwagon jumper. What we want is extra respect for our years of being a fan. We want people to give us extra attention because we watched games in the 60s and 70s when there was little chance of the postseason. The kids here who became fans in the last 6 years don't know what it is really like. These teams all had a realistic chance at the post season. Try being a fan when for 5 or 6 years straight it looks like another 4th Place finish. Seriously, everyone had a moment when they went from casual observer to fan to hardcore. I have a Northwestern Rose Bowl and a Wisconsin Badgers Rose Bowl sweatshirts around somewhere. I enjoyed the games, rooted hard for them, and then stopped even thinking about it. Should I have just ignored the Rose Bowl until "my" team was in it? The only motor sports race I'll make an effort to watch is the Indy 500. Am I a bandwagon indy car fan? Playing the I'm a bigger fan game with new fans won't work because they are in it for the moment and then gone. So you are upset, they really don't care. You will also be saddened when someone whips out ten more years and more angst than you. All I want is one World Series ticket. No attention, no respect.....just one damn WS ticket. I'd LOVE two, to take the Mrs. with me, but I'd gladly settle for one.
  17. It's luck, pure and simple. Either you're gonna have some or you're not. Good luck to you.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) So you guys think Kenny can swing a big deal for Pujols come this offseason..? This Cubbie troll at my job says THIS, and is dead serious when he says it: "I wouldn't trade Kerry Wood for Albert Pujols because.................." ( I have to break in here to repeat that he is DEAD SERIOUS when he says this, and he has told me this on at least 10 occasions - enjoy the irony, let's continue: ) ".........PUJOLS GETS HURT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!" Ahhhhhhhh, the mindless bliss of the Cubbie Junkie!!!!
  19. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) Oh s***. And to think I never even saw the f***ing show. What a bummer. Now what do I do? Buy the inevitable DVD retrospective. I'm sure it'll include HOURS and HOURS of hilarious bloopers and backstage zaniness. Excuse me. :puke
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) It's just frusterating as all hell. Those who live and die by this f***in team almost got no chance to get these tix. A lot of us are poor college kids who used all our money in the summer to go to games, honestly everything I had this summer went to the sox, no joke. Just hard as hell to swallow, that's all. Absolutely. The people who are paying stupid money for the "It Factor" of going to a World Series are taking those tickets away from the 22,000 who get mocked for going to June games against Toronto or Tampa Bay. But if we don't buy season tickets, this is exactly the chance we take. The people who can afford and choose to buy season tickets are being rewarded for their allegiance, and rightly so. It's the tickets that end up in the hands of the leeches that bother me.
  21. I really don't expect to get WS tickets, but I'm not upset about it. This is just the way things are. The further the Sox get, the fewer tickets are available to the GP and the more demand there will be for the few tickets that ARE available. This is not news - it sucks not to be able to go, but that's life.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Stupid Astros had some some sort of raffle for their tickets. I was going to try and get game 5 tickets. Guess I'm screwed. Why isn't it the same method for both World Series teams? Lame. I think the Astros and Cardinals got it right. Raffle off the purchase opportunity to the fans on the mailing lists. At least the REAL fans get a chance at buying them that way. The Sox should look into this for the more in-demand dates, such as Cubs, YankMes, etc. EDITED to add: Another benefit is knowing where the tickets went, so if you wanted to, you could track ( to an extent, anyway ) any suspicious second-hand sales, like on-the-street scalping and such.
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) The guy already gets the award for "dumbest nickname in baseball history" IMO though. Not so sure about that. I submit to you.... ManRam That nickname is the epitome of stupidity.
  24. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I'm stuck at work with a bunch of Cub fans who feel the need to belittle the celebration scenes. They're a bunch of idiots here, it's driving me crazy. They were talking about how the streets were completely flooded in 2003 when the Cubs beat the Braves to advance to the LCS, and it was just a sea of people going crazy. They're laughing and saying I picked the wrong team to root for since I'll be the only one in Grant Park for the rally. It's like I'm back in high school at my job. I guess they're all just bitter, and taking it way too hard. Once I get out of work, I'm gonna party like it's 1959!!! Your suggested response to them: "Guess you'll never know how many people would've flooded the streets if the Cubs had beaten the Marlins, huh?" Then ask them how many people have attended Cub games since October 5th.
  25. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) I remember our discussions from this thread... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39929&st=0 I'm glad you stayed aboard!! Jumping off was never an option! If the ship had gone down, I'd have been right there on it with you! I'm just glad I don't usually post when I'm REALLY mad right after something stupid happens during a game....I'd hate to have a post like THAT dragged back up by SOMEONE.....
