  1. ....just when the Sox were playing well again, THIS has to happen....
  2. This is terrible. Rooney is great. Farmer is s***. Wills is s***.
  3. Real Name - Reverend K. Sweetness Screen Name - Macktastic T. Valentine awwwwwwww yeahhhhhhh
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Train In Vain is my least favorite Clash songs. It's far from my favorite Clash song - I'd say my faves off the top of my head are Clampdown, Capital Radio One, Stay Free, Safe European Home and Complete Control - but I like Train In Vain better than anything off of Sandinista! or Combat Rock.
  5. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) I see your point and mostly agree, but in terms of their sound taking a turn in that direction, it was a very punk rock thing to do. Just as everyone got comfy with the 3 minute blasts, they said, oh yeah try THIS. That attitude of, f*** you, I'll do what I want, how I want, IS punk rock. Those guys branched off and damn near made dance music with their later bands. Whether you like the sound or not is a matter of opinion, but I always dug their willingness to change and lack of fear of failure. That's very true, but the Clash always took those types of risks musically, as far back as something like White Man In Hammersmith Palais or covering Police and Thieves. I'd say one of the more "punk rock" things they did was to record a straight-up pop song like Train In Vain, although it kinda backfired when the song became a hit and the punks backlashed on them big-time. They'll always be one of my Top Ten bands, for sure.
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) 'The Maginficent Seven' and 'Radio Clash' were THE most punk rock things a punk bad has ever done. Perhaps, but I didn't like either of those songs. The more "urban" they got, the less I liked them. Give me the 3 minute blasts of guitars and spitting lyrics and I'm fine.
  7. I can't f***ing stand it. Stupid back-and-forth, "let me talk to my manager" bulls***. Walked out of a lot this morning, in fact. Stupid f***ers don't even list the prices of used cars anywhere on the car, they want you to go into the goddamned office to get the STARTING price now. No f***ing way.
  8. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Notice how he doesn't say anything about short concession lines. I'm guessing you bought nothing and snuck in a 'shooter' bottle. Way to support the cause! I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW, SIR..... That between myself, the Mrs and the little one we purchased 4 hot dogs ( I luuuuuuuuuuv dollar dog day ), a cotton candy and 2 large Pepsi's. ( I don't drink alcoholic beverages when I bring the kid. ) Plus we took advantage of the Sox "bring-in" policy and brought some peanuts and a bottle of water in with us. ....and YES, the shorter concession lines are nice, too!!!
  9. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Why is the Maggs thread closed? Kind of oversensitive if you ask me. That's kind of the mood here these days. No biggie IMO.
  10. It's impossible for me to be negative when my daughter's with me. She cheers long and loud for every Sox player, and she was booing the Tigers too. We had a lot to cheer about tonight......YES!
  11. Just got home, GREAT game! Surprised that the crowd was a little low, since it was a beautiful evening, but with the Bears taking a few fans away and a less-than-thrilling opponent, I suppose I understand it. 21,000 fans = room to spread out and enjoy the game, so I was happy. 12 runs = I was VERY happy!
  12. May I......borrow.....a cup of.....SUGAR......? Congrats on the house, 2K5, now get ready for the STICKER SHOCK when the bills come in!!! I SO wanted to have a do-over when those heating bills came in!
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Buehrle would be incredible in the NL. Yeah. just wait til you see him on the Cardinals.... And FWIW, when I looked at this team in the preseason they looked like an 85-87 win team to me. This has been a very exciting year and I've been thrilled with what they've accomplished, but to not be concerned with what you've seen lately is just sticking your head in the sand. The offense has been poor, to put it lightly, and the pitching staff is feeling the effects of having to pitch close games all year long. Add to that the lingering back problems to the closer, and this is cause for concern. On the other hand, that experience of pitching ( and winning ) low-scoring close games has historically paid off in the postseason. And yes, I still believe they'll get to the postseason, if for no other reason than they have 6 games left with both Cleveland and Minny, so they hold their own fate in their hands. And their record against the Central makes me optimistic as well. But I really thought the 9/19 game with the Jndjians would be meaningless when I bought my tickets, and it's looking less likely that game will mean nothing...
  14. Well, the naysayers ( a group I've been teetering on joining ) have said all year that the Sox are only where they are because of their divisional record. The Sox play the AL Central almost exclusively from now on, so if they keep that trend alive, the Central crown will be theirs. I'll be there tonight to see if they can get September off to a good start! GO SOX!!!!
  15. He's not incorrect, but this article just falls in line with what Mariotti does. He just writes enough articles on both sides of a topic so that he appear to be "right" no matter what happens. As a columnist, he's supposed to write about what's going on, but the annoying thing about him is that he over-reacts with a tinge of anger in his tone, as if he cares what happens to any Chicago team. He clearly doesn't care, except I will suggest that he might enjoy when teams lose because he gets to trot out his own stupid nicknames and smarmy attitude. Hard to treat a winning team that way.
  16. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) actual quote from this show: "don't tell me the world doesn't revolve around me, because today it does" - girl w/ all the crap designer clothes and huge stupid paris hilton sunglasses. I seriously need to program my tv to skip over mtv before i throw the remote at it, everything on mtv pisses me off. I'm old I found that quote funny cuz that bratty little pig kinda looked like a planet, so the world could possibly revolve around her.... It's good to have self-esteem, but a little perspective goes a long way too. I seriously try to avoid that show, cuz spoiled little b****es do not = good television IMO. Now, drunken stupid 20-somethings = comedy GOLD.
  17. Yep, if you can afford EVERYTHING related to owning a car ( insurance, gas, repairs, maintenance ) then sure, why not? But if my kid has a car and her grades slip, those keys are MINE until the grades go back up.
  18. I'm TELLIN' ya, everything's gonna be all right as soon as that Iraqi Constitution is hammered out......
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) ha, yeah...well i've heard this argument once by this kid who didn't like the clash because of their politics...i nearly threw a book at him...i guess it was that side coming out of me...sorry...cheers mate. Taking off his turban they said "Is this man a Jew?" Working for the Clampdown They put up a poster saying "We earn more than you" Working for the Clampdown We will teach our twisted speech To the young believers We will train our blue-eyed men To be young believers A little more political than Death Or Glory..... EDITED TO ADD.....yes indeed, The Clash
  20. Comcast tried to extort me into getting digital cable ( which I don't want ) just to be able to keep HBO. I politely declined. There's nothing on HBO worth it to me.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Speaking of Green Day, did I hear they are going to peform the entire 9 minute version of 'Blvd. of Broken Dreams' on Jimmy Kimmel?.....or have I just been more drunk than usual at night due to our team's slump? Maybe it was on Carson Daly. That's too late at night to play that sleepy little tune, IMO.... :sleep

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Sounds cool, but I went to the site and I didn't see any zombies. Talk about a HUGE tease. Hey, YOU'RE the zombie movie guy, not me! I like movies about f***ed-up musicians - and in some cases, the women who kill them ( or at least help them down the road to death ): Decline of Western Civilization 1 & 2 Sid & Nancy Kurt & Courtney just to name a few.... I've read a couple VERY interesting reviews for Waking Up Dead, and the trailer alone cinches it for me - I must see this movie!

  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) They just did the latest ESPN update and went over that Bruuce Levine is reporting the whitesox and the cubs are talking about Todd Walker. And Todd is in the lineup today for the cubs. That is all. Yes.....but Todd Hollandsworth was in the lineup the day he was dealt to the Braves....I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'........
