  1. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) I know I will be attending at least 3 more games this season (one sometime this month if my mom and brother would pick the damned game already! and 2 with the Brain - one Mariners' game and one Royals game - only one because he isn't sure he can stomach that one much less shoot for more lol). Good to hear about the sell out yesterday. QP, it was a great atmosphere at the park yesterday, with the exception of the Cubbie f***head sitting behind me. The park was PACKED, everyone seemed to be in a really good mood ( until the top of the 9th anyway ), didn't see any obnoxious drunks, my daughter really enjoyed the entire experience, as she always does. It was a great time once I finally got a parking space. The people "directing traffic" really have no clue how to deal with a large crowd.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) You guys are making my head hurt. QUIT ARGUING ABOUT NOTHING BEFORE I LOCK THIS DAMNED THREAD. ....I swear, kids, if you don't stop it RIGHT THIS SECOND I will TURN THIS CAR AROUND!!!!
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) I've not seen his play so I can't comment on his fielding. I can only go by the numbers there. As for 2005 he's hitting .311 vs LH & .214 vs RH. But even vs RH he's still getting the hits in RON sits. He's always hit well at home & should hit much better at the Cell. My feeling on Kaz is that we've not seen his best game. How could a top fielding & hitting all-star SS in Japan be this bad? NY sours guys & playing with Iguchi could change that. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/printart...ing-to-america/ Matsui 7-time All-Star, 3-time GG winner at SS, Iguchi 4-time All-Star, 3-time GG winner at 2B I just think if you put these two together on the same team they will bring out the best in one another. We're a better organization than the NYM. The one line I'll readily agree with is that some guys just can't deal with New York, and getting Matsui out of there COULD provide a big lift. I still don't want the White Sox to take the gamble, though.

QUOTE(Slave of Mind @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) Thanks! I'd love to post more but you all seem to know so much about baseball i'd feel like a kid talking to his daddy about the sport.. Ahhh, don't worry about that. Just post what you think and it'll be cool. Remember the old saying: Opinions are like assholes...............and so are most of us......... ( Wait - is THAT how it goes??? )

  7. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) I love how Gammons said preseason that Detroit and Cleveland were talented teams on the rise, and now they're suddenly "weak" teams. exactly.
  8. On the way to the park from the parking spot WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY down by Pershing ( I got the last one in that lot, they were steering people to 33rd and State after I got in ), I heard someone grumble to us, "....I hope you got your tickets already, they're not even selling standing room anymore...." And OF COURSE I got a Cubbie f***tard sitting DIRECTLY behind me!!! And the guy wouldn't even get vulgar so I could get the security involved - he was just saying stoooooooooooopid s*** like "You shouldn't be able to see the field until you come up the stairs, like at Wrigley. You get a magical feeling seeing that field come into view".....excuse me, that line is making me :puke And then there was this gem: "I don't even like this place, and I hate the Sox." "Then why are you here???" says his friend. "I'm just cheering on my Angels! They're my American League team.....so who's that pitching? Who's number 58?" .....f***ing imbecile....also whining the ENTIRE TIME about the lack of beer vendors in the bleacher area.....fun.....
  9. I just hope everyone will PLEASE allow for an adjustment period before flipping out if Frank doesn't shoot out of the gate right away. Frank will be Frank ( probably not the Frank of old - sorry DePloderer, but you missed the most dominant offensive force of the early 1990's ), but he's going to provide a LOT of offense before this season is done. I'm going tomorrow, so I REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY hope Big Frank returns against the Halos! #35!!!!
  10. Happy Aging Process, FlaSoxx!!!! Don't worry about those "high" 30's....they'll be gone next year.... Here's to ya... ( I'd drink something good in tribute, but all I have in the house right now are those Mandarin Orange Smirnoff things....)
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 28, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) The Cubs certainly lead the majors in one thing ---- excuses. "Taylor! It's not your job to make excuses!! THAT'S ALL YOU GUYS DO GOOD!!! It's either a LEG thing... or a SPIRITUAL thing.... or a PSYCHOLOGICAL THING.... or a HEART ATTACK...." "Who used 'heart attack'?" "....me...." (Lou falls to ground) I love that movie...
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Zambrano Maddux Rusch Mitre Wellemeyer HOW'S THIS FOR STARTERS? ...I'm thinking we won't see THAT ad campaign again anytime soon...
  13. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Again, I hope you guys are joking because the heralded Steve Maltais couldn't cut it in the NHL. He played half a season with Columbus and was worse than a 4th liner. The game would be dominated by the Hawks. He also had cups of coffee in Boston and Tampa and couldn't last there either. He's a career minor-leaguer and a damn good one at that. The Blackhawks would slap the Wolves around in a 7-game series, for sure. If and when the NHL reopens for business, Corvo, Bouwmeester and Lehtonen wouldn't be with the Wolves for sure, and some other guys like Hawgood might get an NHL job as well.

    Back To Norm

Sunday night Comedy Central premieres Norm MacDonald's new show, Back To Norm. It looks decent from the commercials, plus I have always loved Norm's act. I'll be taping this every week, just so I don't have to buy the f***ing DVD.

    Patton Oswalt

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Stand-up comedians in their prime right now that I would rather watch than Patton Oswalt: Dane Cook Stephen Lynch Daniel Tosh Zach Galifianakis Greg Fitzsimmons Nick Dipaolo Greg Behrendt Mitch Hedberg (before he died) Dave Chappelle (before he went insane) There's more but I can't really think right now. Oswalt is top ten. I love the gravy pipe. Greg Fitzsimmons is a SERIOUSLY under-rated comic. I laugh like a f***in' idiot when I see him perform. He has a perfect blend of anger and clever wit.

  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) 2nd mortgage? I'm still trying for #1 ...and now a scene from SS2K5 Mortgage Application Theatre... "Down payment? I'll SHOW you a down payment!!!" (ss2k5 throws a pile of Powerball tickets on the desk) "You just TRY to tell me that none of these is gonna hit!!!!!"
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) Wow, the Rockies pitching really sucks ass. Yep, and they can't blame the horrendous road record on Coors Field, either.
  20. Wow, that's too bad. I hope he can come back. Good luck Jon.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) No report on air. They would not allow that without absolute confirmation... That's right - that's what the SCORE is here for!! Personally, I don't want anyone to get injured, whether it's Prior, Johan, or anyone else. I'd like to see them knocked around FIGURATIVELY speaking, giving up 7 or 8 runs per game, but being happy to see someone injured? no. game update - the Mighty Neifi hits one out to make it 7-1 Cubs. I'm starting to fear that not even the Cubs' bullpen can blow that lead....
  22. I really like Anthrax.....( the band, that is - heh ).... I like the Belladonna era stuff better, but I oddly lost interest quickly in seeing the reunion tour. My portion of the threadjack is now over, please continue with your regularly scheduled thread.
  23. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) I would have Larussa as the Mgr Can't go wrong with Tony, but Chuck's my all-time favorite Sox manager ( first one I remember from growing up ) so I went with him. I pity the kids who had Terry Bevington as their first Sox manager...

  25. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 26, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Is NUKE going to make SnR live eat s***? I don't know about that, but it'll be interesting to see Guido and Nuke figure out who owns the "intellectual rights" to the phrase "eat s***", since that's Guido's strikeout call. ....arguing over the phrase "eat s***".....
