  1. I mean he says right there that it's significantly understated. I'd guess he owned 10-15% at offset and as I heard he bought out about 5% over time putting him around 20% today. And Theo would be capable of putting up 1%.
  2. Where do you see that? I know he bought out a couple partners, but I didn't think he bought out 15%. I remember hearing his stake was close to 3 million initially, and he bought out about 5% since then.
  3. Anderson will be under projected for his entire career; his game is too unique and unique players skills aren't captured by uniformed projection systems.
  4. This is just no where near the same thing. Reinsdorf owns 40% of the Bulls and 19% of the White Sox, but 19% of an MLB team today would cost over 300 million dollars. When Reinsdorf invested in the team, he put up a small amount of money comparatively but his stake was substantial. Theo could put up, at best, 1% of the cost if he invested 20 million of his 25 million networth. No one is going to give an owner total control after putting up 1% of the investment. Although Jeter put up 25 million to be the head of the Marlins group; although it says he put up 4% which would be equal to roughly 50 million so who knows.
  5. Theo is worth 25 million dollars. Even if he "bought" a team he would merely be the figurehead. No way does 25 million buy him total reign over all decisions and spending budgets.
  6. There is zero % chance Kris Bryant is non-tendered. If he were, the Ricketts should be forced to sell the team. And theo talking about the game changing and etc. Baseballs biggest problem is not that the game has slowed or the ball is juiced or the shift... baseballs biggest problem is that far too many teams and owners are not actually trying to win.
  7. 1. The cubs had next to no one locked up beyond their initial deals. 2. Epstein swung and missed repeatedly in free agency 3. Theo hasn't made a good draft pick in about 5 years. 4. The cubs haven't developed a pitcher since theo arrived. The people that annointed the cubs as a future dynasty just completely ignored the fact that they had no sustainable pitching plan.
  8. The goal of baseball isn't to ruin players on other teams. Minor league coaches make very little money. Their teachings do not become proprietary just because a team signed them; I get what you're saying but that's just not how baseball works. Many of these minor league coaches and etc still do private trainings and 1-1 sessions with people.
  9. Tucker is a better overall player; if the decision was, Vaughn/Springer or Tucker/Rotating DH I'd go Vaughn/Springer. If the DH or 1B spot was filled with quality, I'd go Tucker. The Astros on the other hand, would never do that deal.
  10. I think Nick is going to be a nice player; I'm a little more down on him than I was going into last off-season because of the baserunning and defensive miscues. I want to give him a pass due to the unique nature of his debut season, but his decision making isn't something that should really waver as you advance and the defensive miscues were shocking - frankly - given how sure handed he was in college and beyond. I still think you're looking at a solid MLB starter for a long time - with a sprinkle of 1 or 2 potential AS appearances if things go right - but I was definitely disappointed in the decision making and mental errors from a guy who really shouldn't make any.
  11. Agree, but we're talking about the Rockies. Dan Szymborski's been reminding me - I feel like daily - for years that the Rockies don't operate as a normal team because they're full of complete morons and trying to evaluate anything logically when discussing them is pointless. Ian Desmond; the 10 reliever off-season and on and on. Madrigal had a high batting average, and was a top prospect, and the Rockies very well may view him as a superstar in the making. Or better yet, maybe they love someone that we don't. You never know.
  12. Sox aren't trading Crochet so you shouldn't worry too much about that one. If they moved Crochet, you'd be seeing a top 5-7ish arm in the game coming back.
  13. I think by giving up the cost control for Madrigal and replacing it with a cost controlled arm you do two things: 1. You lock in a rotation spot without spending a ton of money; even if Jerry is willing to open up the pocketbook a bit this off-season I just don't see a big money pitcher with him in charge; ever. He has a reluctance to go to 4-5 years with any pitcher, and after the John Danks fiasco I think it just cemented his archaic view on not giving pitchers big long term money. 2. You allow yourself to spend more money on the position side because your owner feels more comfortable giving out big money on that side of the ball.
  14. Thank goodness for that; have no desire in watching fly ball after fly ball sore out of the park. One of the huge draws to Marquez for me is his GB%; being in the top 10 amongst starters workers and plays well at our ballpark.
  15. I'm on the fence. On one side, I think I would pay a lot for a young, proven, cost controlled starter like Marquez who has top-notch stuff and has shown immense durability. On the other side, I am concerned about trading Kopech because his ceiling is possibly higher than Marquez. Cease, I would be more willing to listen and a package built around Cease/Madrigal (even though I like Big sticks) couldn't potentially hurt you as much as putting Kopech in a trade could. The odds that Cease is as good as Marquez is not all that high - it's possible, but just not likely - and Madrigal is a really nice piece IF you are a team who can't spend money. If the Sox want to start spending, and they want to replace Madrigal with a veteran who costs 10 times as much that's fin with me. In general, I'd trade likely anyone but Vaughn/Kopech in the deal to the Rockies. Marquez is one of my favorite arms in all of baseball, so I am a bit bias on this one but I'd give up A LOT to get Marquez under the roof for the next 4 years.
  16. Agree; our legal system is broken AF but sadly the only people that can exploit those cracks are people with money or influence.
  17. It is the Rockies, so don't be shocked if the return isn't what you would think it should be. Maybe the Sox get lucky and the Rockies are in love with one of the middle level prospects. I agree though that money is better spent than assets.
  18. Kopech is that one piece that feels like you could really get your ass handed to you for moving him. I think he's got quite a bit of risk, but the ceiling is still so tantalizing.
  19. LOL looks like Harold could use some newer inside sources.
  20. Keep carrying that water, Harold. Not so fast, my friends.
  21. Yes, this makes me frustrated. I already said that. You realize "you mad?" doesn't work when the person states he's mad? And virtue signal by asking people to be held accountable to same way others would be? OK, champ. I can post whatever i like here; just like you can post your nonsense over and over.
  22. LOL wuht? Based on what? He's been promoting this BS since day 1. He very clearly finds this funny and not to be a big deal. As do many old drunk dullards on the internet who have gone through their lives with no regard for others.
  23. 100%. Tired of wealthy people and famous people and etc not having to follow the same legal system and laws that the majority do. Im glad you think that's cool. Maybe they'll toss you some scraps from the big boy table for all your water carrying. Poor - go to jail. Rich - get handys from weird guys like harold who would be going to jail of they did it. Hopefully your hero gives you the proper attention for all your hard work.
  24. Lol. It was a fucking dui. He tested over the legal limit. Them getting off on a technicality doesn't change what happened. In fact its just more embarrassing now.
  25. Hilarious that you think this is funny or cool. Yes, how great that rich and wealthy people like La Russa with billionaire friends don't actually have to follow the law and can endanger peoples lives with no repercussions. Get fvked for this one, harold.
