  1. Most of eatons defensive value in his one great year was tied solely to outfield assists. For a guy with just an average arm, that's an anomaly. He was never very good off the bat in center or right, but the sox did a nice job positioning him, he made a couple plays he didn't usually make, and he threw out a lot of guys. A perfect storm. Eaton was a shit center fielder which had a lot to do with Arizonas desire to move him in the first place. He was never expected to be a great defender in the first place and he ended up being worse than expected and now he's old. Defense deteriorates faster than offense on average. .
  2. Huh? I don't think Dane dunning is an ace. Im literally responding to a hypothetical question.
  3. Couldn't disagree more. The problem with this assumption is it assumes they wouldn't win with dunning at anytime. Playoffs are a crap shoot. Goal is to get there as much as possible to Increase WS likelihood. 4 years of dunning as an ace gives you a better chance than 1 year of lynn being good.
  4. From the sound of his post, hahn didnt run over his dog because he was getting ready to take him for a walk.
  5. Imagine stealing 10 billion dollars, buying a baseball team with it, and then saying you need to keep "payroll flexibility" with your stolen money lol. Wonder if Steve is going to hire some more people to call team employees late at night to intimidate and harrass them hoping they quit their job so he can capitalize on it.
  6. I might have gone all in on the laughing emoji yesterday after I read his pain.
  7. I just want mod privileges just so I can see who is always using the laughing emoji at our buddy ragahragah, so I can buy them dinner for cracking me up everytime he flips his shit at someone using it on his posts.
  8. Agreed, think they're a dark horse out west actually.
  9. Hey hey, don't forget about SS2K boycotting his mortgage with guaranteed rate who then directly charged the White Sox for the lost revenue. We're in this together.
  10. 1. That article was back when Deadspin did investigative work; this is not the new deadspin and there's nothing in that story that has been discredited. 2. You can search out other avenues of reporting on Dan; he is the bottom of the barrel in that industry which is like the floor in the bathroom from the Fosters story.
  11. Nothing sucks more than someone making a decently clever response, and all my brain returns is "I got nothing, you're on your own." It's how I imagine Adam Eaton freezes up when his kid asks him why he named him Maverick instead of Goose.
  12. Dan is a different breed of evil and shitty, even in industry filled with scum https://deadspin.com/dan-lozano-albert-pujolss-superagent-king-of-sleaze-5861982
  13. I had this exact message typed out, glad I didn't post it and start a soxtalk conspiracy!
  14. I'm not gonna waste time in a sports thread humiliating someone who has no idea how wages have been effectively exploited for over 40 years by a very select few in this country, and how wages are actually set... all I'll say is what you said is 100% categorically false.
  15. You literally have no clue what you're talking about.
  16. They seem pretty accurate because it says MVP under mind and who's gonna argue with that? ?
  17. Oh look, this narrative again. No one is asking for them to operate like the Dodgers or Yankees; how about the other 26 teams in the history of league who have signed 100+ million contracts? My goodness; everyone plays in that range in baseball but for five teams. The Sox have no business being one of those five but they are. No one is asking them to operate like the Dodgers; we're asking them to stop operating like the Oakland Athletics.
  18. When you say consistent, you mean bad right? Since 2015, he's had one season where he's graded out + defensively. Every other season he's been below average to bad. He's not an impact right fielder being a bad fielder and having no power. Adam Eaton hasn't been an average or above Major League player since 2016. It's amazing how anyone can paint this positively.
  19. Supposedly the PA has told players to assume that negotiations will lead to a DH in 2021; this is after the owners told teams there would very likely not be a DH in 2021. I imagine this was just a negotiating tactic, but I would listen to the players side in the ordeal. I also assumed there would be no DH following all the reports from within.
  20. More than 50% of mlb players are conservatives. Can we stop with that stupid narrative that Republicans and conservatives aren't prevalent and welcome in the game. They're everywhere, and no one cares. It's a job and it's baseball.
  21. I agree on your first sentence I just dont think tim strikes me as a guy whose gonna hate on a fellow player to his bosses. Lets grind and get it done seems more up his alley. Could be way off base though as I've never met the guy.
  22. Yeah, I think it would be really rare for a fellow union member to say don't pay that guy; especially when their boss asks them. I also don't think Timmy gives a shit about Adam Eaton, and Abreu likely isn't the kind of guy to blast anyone. Neither of those guys strike me as big drama queens.
