  1. Besides... we all have battered woman syndrome. What would being a white Sox fan mean without immense disappointment after irrational expectations?
  2. Those memories were created by enjoying something together with your family. Whether it was Durham, Karko, Martinez, or pablo ozuna, willie Harris and Chris widger... it didnt matter. They all found a way to give me some sort of happiness or anger. It's a game that takes up 3 hours of ones day... an escape from the daily grind and reality of life. But its played by people... and no matter how popular or unpopular - good or bad - they all can provide a moment of escape. Phillip Humber threw a perfect game! I understand being angry - I was as confident as anyone we would land manny. It sucks. But we've been the little brothers in this town for a long time and we should be able to take a few blows. Its frustrating but people usually are. The white Sox are the players - past and present - not ownership. Winning is always more fun than losing but man... you appreciate it and enjoy it more when it's not a common occurence. Anger is a natural reaction but dont deprive your kids of those same memories your dad and you had watching people play a game. Those memories weren't made because the white Sox gave bill Melton baseballs biggest contract. Memories are built win or lose - its merely a way to enjoy something together on a warm summer day. Or pass the time at work or home... or even gives you good conversation with family and friends. Relationships were built through that commonality and they're built thick. They have to be. We're white Sox fans. Here's to the Billy Piereces of the world. He missed out on the hall of fame by ONE vote because he played for the worst offenses baseball has ever seen. Billy loved white Sox baseball because it built memories for life. Billy was a family friend who helped instill that love of the Sox into my mind. It's just a game. Love the memories.. dont let a couple dopes deprive you and your family of that. Billy loved them and you could very well say they cost him a chance at the hof.
  3. Beat, not match. My goodness. He didnt say hey, they offered 10 years 300 million can you match it and we'll sign. He asked teams to beat the bid after the blind bidding. Not match. There is a very big difference.
  4. They would be/were asked to BEAT the offer. Not match it. They got a chance to BEAT it. Not match it. There is a monster difference.
  5. Yes. "We had a pretty idea where this was going." As Kenny said, they heard "rumors" of a 300 million dollar offer. Nothing official from Lozano but leaks. They bid and lost. Phillies had no interest in bidding. Lozano checks backs and they say same.
  6. Pal it's not rapport. You're not telling a team hey give me your best bid so I can go tell the team we want to play for to match. You're never getting a teams best offer that way and you're certainly not asking for best offers and turning the one teams around and telling the other team. You'll destroy your word in any negotiations going forward.
  7. No one is using fangraphs WAR valuation. That is outdated with old albatross contracts inflating it. Fangraphs doesnt even agree that 1 WAR = 9 million
  8. You can say this 1000 times but its not true. As I said, MAYBE, if you played somewhere for a while or something crazy like that, the agent may give you a chance to match and its understandable and acceptable practice - ie the nationals with Bryce (MAYBE). But the white Sox were undoubtedly in a blind final bid and went to bed thinking it was the best offer and woke up to a call from Lozano telling Hahn they took the Padres deal.
  9. This did not happen and rarely EVER happens in professional sports negotiations. You are asked to submit a final bid blind - this is how a guy like arod gets 50 over next team. An agent cant lie about another teams offer and consider that negotiating in good faith so blind offers are usually how this works and is sure how it went here... as was pointed out Lozano asked for blind bids at turn of new year and wasnt satisfied so started back up and did it again.
  10. So what... I'm pointing out you can attack Jerry for a lot of things but not acting in good faith in regards to a contract signed is not one of them and you cant argue he doesnt take care of his people.
  11. He didnt owe ANY of it. I'd love to see you give 3 million away. Puhleeze. You arguing he should have paid the guy his contract too while he career was over?
  12. Give me evidence of this organization ever cheating out on their own players and doing something like this. The Sox paid out bonuses they didnt owe after world series.
  13. Manny wasnt worth 8 years 300 million imo so if you're arguing his last two years are worthless then you should feel better about missing out on this.
  14. I could list examples all day but Jerry reinsdorf paying Jay William's his entire bonus despite there being a clause in his contract saying its void if he rode a motor cycle... then Jay williams had the nerve to RIP the organization. He also lent money to Thomas during his divorce. His loyalty within with former players and etc shows that. Giving a job to randy brown when he was going bankrupt and pippen. Jerry is a loyal guy.
  15. Once again... if manny is good enough to warrant the contract then having dumb silver slugger and gold glove incentives should make that an easy sign for him. Just my opinion.
  16. So he DH's. If manny is do bad years 9 and 10 that you cant even bank on him starting then arguing you should guarantee those years is risky imo. Then you're giving 8 years 300 million which is too much.
  17. Idk. Unless the 350 was bs it seems had other ways to earn another 30 million in those too. And as I said, say what you want about cheap Jerry but he takes care of his players.
  18. One of the most loyal organizations in professional sports to their stars and their gonna screw him in year 9 and 10 if hes healthy? Zero chance of that.
  19. What the fuck? Manny should be pissed or hes just a dumbass. Does he plan on sitting out the last two years of his deal with the Padres? This makes it much worse. Incentives arent even that hard to hit.
  20. Maybe if the outlash is strong enough and they lose money they'll give Harper the 10 years 350 million lol
  21. I dont get it. So you were willing to put 350 million in with incentives but wouldnt just take those out and offer 300? Wtf.
  22. They gave a max deal to Carlos boozer. Give me a break. Bulls have offered the MAX they can offer multiple times. Stoudamire. Melo. Lebron. Wade. Etc etc. Money isnt the problem in the NBA. There are max contracts.
  23. Who did the Astros sign? Must have missed it.
  24. Grow up. It's a game and a team you root for. It sucks but life will go on. Guy wants to say hes not a fan because they didnt spend 300 million dollars. Please. What a joke. White Sox fans - the most demanding fanbase in the world that doesn't show up to games or watch them on tV. It goes both ways pal. You aren't a fan if your fanhood relies on one player that has never even played for the organization. Trading sale day was 1000 times harder for me as a fan than this. Manny was never a white Sox. Shit happens. Its oh well because I like the young guys and if manny didnt wanna join that then so he if. Let's go burger.
