Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Eh, I thought his stake was a little larger. He clearly answers to some people... he doesnt have a majority share - he just has the largest share. I dont know if it actually matters or impacts things but I do wonder it...

Donate that $500 to a good cause. Plenty of people could use the assistance. Dont waste it on some billboard that accomplishes nothing.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Lol why? Its their own fault. Sox let everyone know very clearly they were not bidding on Harper. People who chose to ignore that are fools seeking misery and disappointment.

Jerry only owns 19% of the White Sox... my curiosity has had me wondering if Jerry is the face so he takes the fall for investors saying thanks but no thanks.

2019 ZiPS Projections
I think Anderson is going to destroy that number. Tim goes 3.5+ WAR this year.

Let's talk about player development
Eh, those guys weren't striking people out at the rate Lambert was, nor were they preventing baserunners at the clip he did. Lambert had a FIP of about 2.75 last year with a K-rate north of 10.5. Guerrero was probably the closest to ever matching his production so far, but Guerrero always lacked the stuff imo. Jimmy has the stuff at least.

Let's talk about player development
Jimmy Lambert is actually a great example to use showing the White Sox advancements with arms; Lambert's progress is classic White Sox for a pitcher. Instill the high fastball in his mind as being not a dangerous pitch, but an out pitch. Lambert's ability to maximize his fastball that way has led to his incredible improvement. His changing of the hitters eye level, paired with keeping his breaking pitches down, turned him from a pitch to contact organizational piece, to a strike out oriented pitcher with an impact ceiling. Lambert is maybe the most underrated story coming into this season, as his stuff is really playing up now, and it pairs terrifically with his above average (already) control. Lambert could be a right handed Quintana. The White Sox were actually the first team to really push the high fastball back into the game - well, them and the Rays I would say. I have no idea why fans don't think the White Sox are heavily invested in pitching analytics and data collection. They are. They say Cooper doesn't embrace them but he clearly does - he simply just doesn't talk in new age verbiage. Cooper plays the psychologist - which is very important for pitchers - and he sees pitching through a different lens. I actually believe they compliment each other perfectly - they being the White Sox analytics department and Cooper.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Once again... the 175 has nothing to do with that. He didnt sign for 225 or something. He signed for 300 million. Padres wanna say they got involved because he was in at 175 and then determined after a meeting that he was worth 75% more than that and was actually worth the 300 million? It took preller that long to get ownership on board would be my guess. You dont say you got involved because the price was only 175 and then sign for 300. That makes no sense at all. If I see something on sale on accident for $1000 and show up to the store and buy it for $1750 I cant claim I bought it because of the sale.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
That was his expected price before the offseason - 300 million. If the Padres were willing to spend that then it makes no sense that they wouldnt have been in from day 1. It's all nonsense to me. They jumped in because they thought the bidding was at 175 and then paid 300 which was the expected sign price before the offseason began? Not buying it.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
This isnt your local fantasy baseball league. The owner should have more class running a billion dollar operation than to take jabs at his fellow owners.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Lol they ended up paying 300 million. I have no idea how they could even say this.

Sox signing Ervin Santana (pending physical) to milb deal per WSD
What opportunity cost? No risk with some reward. Nothing wrong with that.

Or its 4 years of marwins. It's a window piece for 4 or 5 years to assist the team.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
I dont think Bryce Harper is worth 350 million if manny was worth 300. I especially dont think the Sox should be interested if they though manny was worth only 250. I dont want the Sox to hurt themselves just to appease angry fans. That contract wouldnt be a good one. Mannyz was. Just because you fucked up with manny does not mean you should overspend for Harper - that's not how a good organization runs imo.

40 million is two Marwins. It's not cheap.

Bonds won like 97 gold gloves in a row and he stole 600 bases. Can we please stop even using bonds as a barometer for Harper?
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
If you can hit like Barry bonds, nothing else matters. Sure.
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Barry bonds is the greatest hitter of all time. My goodness... those two are not similar. It would be the largest contract in baseball history and you guys think it's ok to give it to someone you see dhing in 3 years.
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Agree to disagree. I dont want to overpay just because... that's not a smart move by the FO and is even dumber.
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Yes I'm citing WAR which is a culmination of all aspects of the game. Bryce Harper is not worth more than manny Machado. Certainly hes not worth 100 million more.
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Whi cares? Uh.. I'm not paying a DH 350 million.
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
He has been GREAT before. Historically great. I have never argued otherwise but the moral of the story is that Harper has had one Great year, one good year, and 3 years not worth the contract.
-
Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
It's not worth 9 million by any actual measure. Fangraphs will admit such. That number is heavily influenced by guys like pujols shit contract. If that's truly what teams paid, manny would get more than 300 million.

Sox signing Ervin Santana (pending physical) to milb deal per WSD
Which means 4.5 million if hes a starter. Not a bad deal at all. cut him and pay him next to nothing.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Cherry pick? Lol. It's WAR. How is that cherry picking? Btw, getting hurt is an issue with harper. 3 WAR isnt worth 350 million pal. Sorry.
