Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Trading for Mookie Betts is pushing all of your chips in on 2020 while simultaneously leaving the exact same holes as you had in '20 going into '21.

It makes zero sense to me. If they had signed Wheeler then mayyyyyyybe it makes sense then, but that's even a stretch.

Sox have checked in on Pineda, but he signs with Twins
They need another, maybe even 2.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
He threw 140 innings last year, I'd think whatever limit he's on at this point would be unlikely to actually limit him.

Maybe not in this hypothetical

Aren't the Sox more likely to be ready in 2021 than 2020?
How? These teams are like 100x more valuable than they were 25 years ago, that's not some happy accident that fell on a bunch of hobbyists.

I don't think this has been true since like the seventies.

I don't give a shit about Jerry's money, if it were up to me he would have to give most of it up. But I'm not under any delusions that billionaires are suddenly going to stop operating their businesses like a business. So I want the FO to be smart with the dumb limits they have.

$250M to burn
I mean yeah the pressure is on, but that comes with trying to be a competitive baseball team. Doesn't mean not converting on 100% of targets is an failure of epic proportions. If missing Machado didn't sink this thing (it didn't), I really don't think Wheeler will. The Wheeler reaction has been 90% Machado PTSD.

$250M to burn
What's bothering me is that there doesn't seem to be any middle ground between a home run and a disaster off season. Last year was definitely an unmitigated disaster. But I find any offseason that includes Yaz can't be a bad one, and there's still going to be moves made.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
If it's any consolation, the Twins still don't have any pitching.

Sox in on MadBum
If Bum is as expensive as there are reports of, he can pound all the sand in the world. But, he'd still be at least a 3-4 win improvement to the rotation and that's not nothing. Even still, target Ryu.

The Mets I assume

Tsutsugo - UPDATE: To Rays
I have a hard time imagining it'd be for much more than ML minimum.

Sox in on MadBum
Idk why people are so anti-Ryu

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
Walk away dude

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
I’d have a beer with Lucas and mr. giolito

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
That's 17 million less than Jacob DeGrom was given 9 months ago, with all kinds of crazy deferments. Yes, I know it bought out a year of arb. Wheeler might not be getting ELITE dollars, but he's getting more than he's proven to be worth.

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
he elaborated in this article

Nightengale, if that's worthy

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
It is?

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
I understand that. But acting like Zack Wheeler is a no brainer at, idk, 150 is ridiculous. This sucks, but I'm not going to stomp my feet over it.

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
They offered him a 20 million dollars more than anyone thought he was going to get when the offseason started. Probably closer to 30.

Zack Wheeler: To the Phils (5yr 118); Sox had made BIGGER offer
You seem to be implying that there is no number that is not worth going to.

Sox in on MadBum
He pitched a billion innings
