  1. That's not necessarily true. The Brewers were legit world series contenders in 18 and didn't even have a bonafide #2. Braves, I think, had as good a chance as anyone and Soroka was on a level with Giolito on a WAR basis. People put too much stock in what it takes to win in the playoffs, because at the end of the day what it takes is being present and a bunch of dumb luck.
  2. Something barely coherent I'm sure
  3. Would have been awesome if he added something like 'We'll see if they come to play' and dared Jerry to do something.
  4. Happy, that team should be able to win baseball games. I'd like a swing man too, but whatever.
  5. Excellent contribution
  6. I'm sure MLB's new friends in the desert will be pressuring them hard to take care of this.
  7. I think the big difference between this year and last is that they’re actually interested in filling holes, whereas last year they just wanted their one guy.
  8. Welp, I’m ready to be hurt again. All aboard the hope train toot toot
  9. Lmao that was such a dick shot
  10. I'm under the impression that they will do absolutely anything to win baseball games and it's basically a certainty that they are cheating in many other ways.
  11. Could have done without the metaphor tbh
  12. I mean their OPS was worse at home than on the road, so while it's shitty, I don't think there's a need to go that scorched earth
  13. Proud of them for not attacking the people who reported it this time at least.
  14. Saw some athletic writer on twitter saying basically 'actually this shouldn't be considered cheating, and is smart and savvy' and get all the way out of my face into turning the actual on field action into an arms race. The difference in technology is wide enough just with scouting.
  15. farquhar steps of at the 2:58:40 mark of this replay. It is suuuuuuuuuper obvious before that what was going on.
  16. He did work for McKinsey after all
  17. They set up a camera in the outfield that fed to a monitor in the dugout, they weren't watching the broadcast, and they were only doing it at home
  18. Farquhar is a super smart dude, and the Astros are really outing themselves as an uber gross organization.
  19. Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez both average >95 mph and didn't throw one single cutter. Stop pushing this like it's uniform fact.
  20. There's a pretty good chance Odorizzi is more valuable just next year than either of those guys combined over their entire career.
  21. Fact of the matter is it's hard to actually expect much at all when you get outside of the top 6 or 7 picks. There's almost 0 reason to not give up picks for a good pro.
  22. Bruce has got to realize that spending 40-50 mil in FA and targeting Calhoun and Hamels are incongruous ideas, no?
  23. Especially as it pertains to the Sox, it seems
  24. If that person that is taking over third is less good than Anthony Rendon I would tend to agree. But Anthony Rendon is really really good.
  25. Too many good players is a good thing
