The deal for Keuchel is fair. I did not want to give Ryu 20 a year because he's never healthy and the Sox need somebody to take the ball every 5th day. Interesting for the Jays none the less, their payroll is like 50 million and they probably won't compete for a couple years. The Ryu deal is better for the Jays than it would have been for the Sox if that makes any sense. Angels and Twins are just sitting on their hands.

Yeah I'm fine with this. Trading Collins instead of McCann is extremely short sighted if they get EE.

It makes no sense to trade 5 years of Collins who can still develop over 1 year of McCann.

I just think if you bring in EE one of Collins or McCann has to go. I'd gladly trade McCann in this scenario for anything really. Sending Collins back to AAA is an option I guess but he really doesn't have much to prove at this point, at least offensively. He would probably be better served working with Grandal at the C position and they already have a relationship.

This doesn't really work imo. It's half in half out which doesn't maximize anything. Grandal is going to need DH at bats as well and might get time at 1B and I'd figure Mazara will get some too. It's just way too many moving parts and if you are paying EE 10 million bucks to hit dongs there is probably no chance anyone other than Grandal is getting in there.

I think it's really foolish to punt Collins for EE. He should be our backup C in 2021 and we have no idea how he's going to look at the plate based on 100 ABs last year. You can pick up a DH at the deadline if he sucks or try our beloved fat body in AAA.

They have to upgrade RF next year. They should have plenty of money to do that. I just don't like the odds when Springer, Mookie, and Joc are the options. I have a feeling Springer takes an extension, Betts is unobtainable, so you put all the chips in on a platoon bat in Joc.

Wheeler has a ton more upside than 32 year old DK. Especially over 3-5 years.

Sure, my point is you have less wiggle room now with DK over someone like Wheeler who could have added another 1.5-2 WAR. The floor has essentially lowered. If Kopech and Cease hit it won't matter in the long run.

He's a solid #4 on a good team. He doesn't put us over the top but if he can continue to eat a bunch of innings I'm okay with it. You really have to hope Giolito remains and one of Kopech/Cease emerges as a #2.

I really hope they don't stand pat at Mazara in RF. Engle as a platoon mate looks disgusting.
