So What Happens to Zack Collins?
BackDoorBreach replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
See, but this is exactly what they are doing with RF. It would have made more sense to sign a RF and shuffle the DH spot imo. -
Free Agent relief pitcher ideas besides Betances

He's going to be on an innings limit so maybe? It would probably depend on what his innings were at and if the Sox were in contention. -

Projections for non established players is goofy to go by. -
The Sox' moves have me interested as a fan again

There's genuine hype about this team though. -

Because he's really good? You aren't getting prime Arenado as a salary dump lol. -
Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
BackDoorBreach replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I played in College with Cingrani. He was always high. He also hasn't been that good for awhile. -
I am without a doubt certain that Mazara has been projected much better than he has been, probably every year in the majors. Puig isn't great but he is definitely a better player than Nomar and has been for the last 4 years.

JDM makes no sense and neither does anybody else on the Sawx right now that wouldn't cost Vaughn++. I really, really, really, want Castellanos as the dude has been 3rd in the majors in XBHs over the last 3 years and would be a serious offensive upgrade in RF. I don't think they are going to be making any big splash in RF at this point now though for whatever reason. It bothers me to get all these pieces and spend all this money and still have a replacement level platoon player as our RF. Mazara is an "upgrade" over negative WAR players we had last year only. The Sox aren't competing against themselves, they are in fact, competing against the rest of the league. I like Mazara as depth, not as a starter when clear upgrades are still out there. I would bet they go for some unsexy RH platoon partner at this point as many of the mouthpieces have basically said that. You can't be taken serious if Adam Engle is that guy. He is a terrible hitter.

Unless I'm making this up, isn't this like the only tweet/report that has linked us at all to him?

I think it's incredibly foolish to even consider trading him at this point. Especially for a RP, which would be the only thing we'd be trading for. -
FS: White Sox open extension talks with Luis Robert
BackDoorBreach replied to Rankin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This would be really nice. I don't think this happens with Madrigal though as his ceiling is a lot lower. Having Robert up OD and buying out a FA year would be fantastic. -
This is what peak Joe Maddon looks like whether you like it or not.
-
?? it's funny because he reads like a bit but isn't one.

I agree. Mazara will be our starting CF and Collins to RF but only against LHP.

I don't think there is any chance Wood agrees to be a straight bullpen piece. He needs to raise his value and prove he can stay healthy. Not unlike Walker. -
This isn't a rebuild anymore though. We have a glaring hole in RF when there are several bats available right now to fix it. They aren't spending 350 million dollars on Betts next year. Springer could easily get an extension, if not he's going to cost probably 100 million on the wrong side of 30. And Joc Pederson is fine, but he's a platoon bat and will likely have many other suitors. They could get Nick right now and solidify RF for the next few years and upgrade substantially. He has like the 3rd most XBHs in baseball over the last 3 years.

We have no idea what he is right now at the plate. So how?

So what do we do in 2021?

There just aren't a lot of power hitting high OBP catchers. And he's LH. He can do a lot of things the Sox need.
