  1. Harold is a nice guy and was a great player but he could be the most boring person on the planet.
  2. Only the Sox could blow that scoring opportunity. What a bunch of clowns.
  3. But you also enjoy watching an aging and declining Abreu play everyday. Who are you to judge anyone’s enjoyment from game to game?
  4. Skole with more stupid baserunning. Is this stupid players or awful coaching at this point?
  5. Listening to a stoned Bill Walton talk to Benetti about baseball isn’t my idea of enjoyment.
  6. Okay, look at his strikeout rate in the minors then. His first taste of the majors was no surprise.
  7. Safe to say at this point that we lost the Samardzija trade.
  8. 26 years old and hitting .218 in AAA = organizational player
  9. I think the jury is still out on McCann. He has been bad at the plate in the second half and closer to his career numbers. It would be an excellent idea to improve the lineup and the catcher position by adding Grandal in front of McCann.
  10. It would be stupid if the Sox don’t go after Grandal with the money they have available.
  11. Because McCann still hasn’t proven he is worth throwing all of your eggs in his basket with his awful second half, that are much like his usual numbers. I like the idea of McCann backing up Grandal and Collins being able to DH, play 1B, and catch every once in awhile. Signing Grandal and a RF would make a huge improvement to the lineup.
  12. If they were what Hahn thought they would be, he would have been able to trade them at the deadline. Jay missed too much of the season and Nova didn’t start pitching well until too late. Herrera has been awful.
  13. Yolmer should be non-tendered and Leury won’t get much but Colome will get around $10 million.
  14. Whose idea was this? Talk about intentionally embarrassing your franchise when they are already in the dumps. https://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu/bill-walton-called-into-the-white-sox-broadcast-for-a-preview-of-his-mlb-debut-naturally-it-included-him-singing-and-having-no-idea-how-many-innings-in-a-game
  15. Toronto just released former top pitching prospect David Paulino.
  16. Abreu is 9th in OPS and 22nd in WAR among MLB first basemen. Greg — the grass IS greener with other MLB first basemen.
  17. I don’t think you can assume McCann will be a good enough starter next season just yet. His numbers after the Allstar break are more like his career stats. Adding Grandal and a decent RF would make a huge impact to the lineup for next season, along with Robert and Madrigal joining it shortly after the season starts. The Sox need 2 starting pitchers, a RF, a catcher, and bullpen help.
  18. Neither is an even better option.
  19. I’m pretty sure Tatis Jr. just said that no one cares about your BABIP statistics. He’s a young phenom and star. It’s over, my friend. No stat is going to make this trade look any better. Stop trying so hard. This could potentially shape up to be one of the worst trades in MLB history. He has better numbers at 20 years of age than the “young” Sox players we are all excited about that are 3 to 6 years older, lol. He is better than Moncada, Anderson, and Eloy right now. The Shields trade should be etched on Hahn’s gravestone. What a clown. See below for further evidence. Maybe we can sign Tatis Jr. when he becomes a free agent at age 26 by offering him an incentive-based contract in years 8 and 9 and a chance to earn more money than other teams’ guaranteed contract offers? 😂 Fernando Tatis Jr. finished 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a 9-3 win over the Rockies on Thursday. Tatis opened the Padres' half of the first inning with a leadoff homer, shooting a Jon Gray pitch just over the wall in right field. An inning later he plated a run with an RBI single, and in the sixth he reached on a throwing error and scored on a Wil Myers double. The 20-year-old now has 22 homers and 14 steals to go with 51 RBI and 60 runs scored overall, batting a healthy .326/.387/.607 across 79 games. The NL Rookie of the Year race between he and Pete Alonso is shaping up for a very interesting final few months.
  20. Everyone hopes we sign some top free agents this offseason. But like Ron pointed out, Abreu’s $68 million is the largest contract ever signed by the Sox and they haven’t historically doled out big long-term contracts to free agent starting pitchers so fans have every reason to be skeptical. If the Sox don’t spend big this offseason, they never will. At least we know this going into the offseason. This offseason will be the true and final test. If it doesn’t happen, we get to resort to praying for new ownership.
  21. Fernando Tatis Jr. clobbered a two-run homer -- his 20th round-tripper of the season -- to power the Padres to a 9-4 victory over the Mariners on Tuesday. Tatis Jr. drilled a no-doubter to left field off Mariners lefty Wade LeBlanc to extend the Padres’ lead to five runs in the fifth inning. It was his lone hit in four at-bats. He also walked and scored an insurance run in the ninth. The 20-year-old sensation has gone deep six times in 22 games since the All-Star break and is on pace to become only the fifth hitter since 1999 to record a 20-homer, 20-steal rookie campaign. He owns a sparkling .322/.383/.592 triple-slash line with 56 runs scored, 20 home runs, 48 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 339 plate appearances. This is what a franchise cornerstone looks like in 2019.
  22. “We were happy to be at the table with Gerrit and we made what we thought was a competitive offer, with a chance to earn more money than the guaranteed offers others teams made, but ultimately we fell short of our plan. We will continue to be aggressive with our targets in free agency and the trade market, as well as looking to lock up our own core long-term. The money will be spent.”
