  1. This seems ridiculous. Once Robert hits the majors, there will be a lot more autographed cards of his on the market. Not a good investment IMO.
  2. Castillo can go right now and it wouldn’t matter. He’s already a sunk cost for this team. The downside for a lot of the players Hahn acquired last offseason was that they sucked this season but they cost a lot more than $50K. $50K is chump change for an MLB team so that’s why I said there is no downside.
  3. What else is it then? Waste their service time in this shit show of a season? I am still praying that an entirely new coaching staff is here before they both arrive. Wishful thinking, however.
  4. True, I agree with you. He will likely suck but I still don’t see the downside. We are eating Welington Castillo’s money regardless and he is gone after this season. Cut him loose and try Swihart. For the cost of a waiver claim ($50,000) the Sox can get a catcher/utility lefty who they can give a few at bats to until the end of the season. If he beats the tiny odds and actually looks halfway decent, you have control of him for three more seasons. If he sucks, you are out $50K. I’d rather see what Collins can do but it doesn’t sound like he will be back up this season according to Hahn.
  5. Further destroying the argument that Robert and Madrigal should be up now or for 2020 opening day. You don’t lose a full year of control over 9 or less games.
  6. The Sox lineup gets to face both Greinke and Cole in one day? Oh boy...
  7. Bos and AZ don’t have Todd Steverson! Ah, I give up. Good point. 😂😉
  8. Yermin is a DH and Zavala’s K rate screams career minor leaguer. Also, Hahn has already said Collins isn’t coming back up this season. There is more than enough room for both Yermin and Swihart if Hahn would stop wasting at bats on Castillo, Jay, Goins, and Skole.
  9. I’d give him a tryout for the rest of the season. After all, we are wasting at bats on Goins and Skole already. Jay is as much of a sunk cost as Castillo right now. I noticed Swihart has played C, 1B, LF, And RF this year. That is some interesting versatility, but he has to hit of course.
  10. After a bad stint with the Dbacks, Swihart is available once again! Who wants him? It’s worth noting that Swihart only had 70 plate appearances with Arizona because he has been on the IR with a strained right oblique since June 1st. I could see the Sox possibly biting this time because he might make it to them via waivers. The Dbacks traded for him last time around. Hahn loves other team’s former first round picks. This time around, it makes even more sense. No one wanted Beef Welington at the trade deadline and he is simply dead weight at this point. Swihart probably sucks but has 3 more seasons of control and the Sox aren’t planning to call up Collins again this season. McCann, Collins, and Swihart could be a decent trio to start next season with if the Sox won’t throw money at Grandal. Diamondbacks designated C/OF Blake Swihart for assignment. Swihart was batting just .136/.186/.273 in 31 games with the Diamondbacks, who acquired him from the Red Sox in mid-April. He missed most of June and all of July with a severe right oblique strain.
  11. Listen to Walton, breh. https://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu/bill-walton-called-into-the-white-sox-broadcast-for-a-preview-of-his-mlb-debut-naturally-it-included-him-singing-and-having-no-idea-how-many-innings-in-a-game He is either high or losing his marbles. Or it’s the worst schtick / gimmick of all time.
  12. It’s amazing that Semien was managed in two seasons by a six time Gold Glove third baseman and the manager couldn’t teach him anything. It just goes to show that great players don’t always make great managers, even though the Sox organization seems to think so.
  13. This is a great point. Does he develop the same way with the Sox if he wasn’t traded?
  14. You need to look at players outside of Eloy, Abreu, and the Sox roster. What Tatis Jr. is doing at age 20 is far more special than anything Eloy has done thus far at age 22.
  15. Hahn’s trades have been good for the most part. The Samardzija trade was obviously bad but not the end of the world. However, the Tatis Jr. trade for a broken down starter will never be topped. Tatis Jr. at 20 years of age is currently a better player than anyone in the Sox organization. Unless the Sox win a WS with this current youth movement, he will never live that trade down. Meanwhile, Hahn’s free agent acquisitions overall have been about as bad as anyone could do. A monkey throwing a dart at a wall of free agent names written on paper could likely do better.
  16. People mostly just want to see Yermin because they are sick of seeing at bats wasted on the likes of career minor leaguers like Goins (31) and Skole (30). I doubt anyone would be surprised to see Yermin fail miserably in the majors like Palka or Reed, never to be seen again. But we already know guys like Goins and Skole are just wasting at bats and have no future with the Sox so we may as well give Yermin a shot at DH.
  17. Mazara is a .750 OPS corner outfielder. I don’t understand why the Sox think that would change, especially with their hitting coach and mentoring. Plus, he only has two years left of control and his agent is Boras.
  18. It’s still a larger than normal cost related to the player. It’s not like they only signed with the Sox for $7 million like Andrew Vaughn.
  19. He’s a DH and it’s looking like he won’t even hit the majors until next year at age 27, if ever. Last offseason, we were excited about the possibility of signing two free agents who were 26 years old. I agree that it’s tough to call Yermin a prospect at this point.
  20. That was about as bad as a major league lineup can look.
  21. He didn’t look so good there and it doesn’t really matter cuz his glove will never make up for his putrid bat.
  22. Yep, and this is my fear for this upcoming offseason. That they add more cheap veteran options to plug holes, using the excuse that they need to save money to lock up their in-house core of talent in the near future.
