That Twitter guy Not Cishek, if you believe he has sources, has said that internally McCann is not happy being a backup and the Sox are trying to work a trade as a result. Officially, among legitimate reporters, there hasn’t been anything said. McCann is being a pro. But it would only make sense that a guy who came out of nowhere to be an Allstar last year would be upset to see his team sign the premier free agent catcher of the offseason and change his role to backup.

This already happened with Alonso last year and everyone was right. But I think EE will be fine.

The Sox could be holding out for their price or an injury to a starting catcher for more leverage.

Trade McCann and go with Collins and Mercedes as your last bench spots. If their defense is so bad it causes issues, acquire a defensive catcher with no bat.

I’m going to guess they switch roles to start the season. Engel will revert back to his bad self, as always.

It makes no sense to wait for the deadline to trade McCann. His value is at an all time high right now. If you wait until July, he could either not get enough appearances to prove his value or revert back to his Tigers line.

Collins starts 0-2, works it to full, and hits a 2-run homer. He is also leading the team in walks. Trade McCann.

Imagine if we had also gotten back Devers as the third piece over Basabe.

That isn’t exactly an accurate summary. The concern was also that the Sox would never be willing to sign a top free agent to a $200+ million dollar deal.

I honestly expect playoffs. So much talent. I really think Hahn needs to focus on upgrading the bench if he can.
