Look at the body of work over those 6-7 years. Last offseason’s acquisitions outside of McCann were awful as well.

Yermin should have gotten a chance last year but they wasted those at bats on AJ Reed. I don’t see him getting a chance on this roster. The Sox would be doing him a favor by trading or releasing him but that wouldn’t make much sense for them to do.

Not a movie but The Outsider on HBO is probably the best Stephen King adaptation so far. Its pacing is pretty poor as the first two episodes were a good chunk of the book and a ton of the action and then it moves extremely slowly from episodes 3 through 8. But it’s still a well done adaptation. It probably would have been fine as 6 to 8 one hour episodes as opposed to 10.

With his lack of a position, I will be surprised if he gets his shot.

I complained about wasting money last year instead (i.e. Herrera, Alonso, Jay), which was much worse than this deal. $31 million thrown in a fire. Yes, Hahn does stupid things but I don’t think this deal will be one of them.

If someone wants to complain about giving a reliever too much money, Kelvin Herrera and his 2-year, $18 million dollar contract is a much better target.

I was showing how $13 million, or even $16 million isn’t all that much money... but it sure can be spent a lot more wisely. Giving it to two old garbage vets is a bad idea but spending it on many years of control for a good young reliever who could become a top closer is a good idea.

I wonder what Puig said in the meeting to apparently scare the Sox away. Abreu’s comments are a bit surprising.

The Sox literally burned $13 million dollars in a fireplace when they acquired Alonso and Jay last year. I am surprised anyone would be upset about this signing for a young reliever who could have closer potential. If he repeats last season and gets a few saves, his trade value would be through the roof.

Adam Jones is probably a good comp offensively, but at SS, so more valuable, especially if his glove gets better.
