  1. This game was flashback 1959.
  2. His manner at the plate continues to remind me of Fisk. I feel like he takes control of the game.
  3. Can't argue. He has been a nice player to watch. That's why I'm looking forward to getting Madrigal up with the Sox. Teams need some of these guys that play big league small ball at a high level. They make things happen with speed and smarts. The big thumpers need someone to drive in.
  4. Two games in a row that were ENTERTAINING!
  5. His framing was not thought to be good by reputation but for my money he is an exceptional framer. Best in my mind since AJ.
  6. On the other hand...Spanish speaking to todays game is a nice plus and players do seem to relate to him. I don't like some of his actions (bunts, etc.) but this is not an easy bullpen to manage.
  7. Definitely want James signed to a nice extension. I don't think luck has anything to do with the fine job he's doing both catching and hitting. Pitchers seem to love pitching to him.
  8. I agree! Earl Weaver was famous for saying you only get 27 outs. Don't waste them.
  9. I'm the same way. They were always fooling around and Benetti was differential to every thing Stone said. Now they are working to stay on baseball topics and Jason has an adult conversation with Stone. Growing on me.
  10. Hard to imagine how unhappy most of us are with Sox this year. Anderson, Moncada, McCann and Abreu will legitimately receive ASG consideration.
  11. Between injury and agent...Rodon will not be part of the glory years.
  12. Who would look at Yogi Berra and think left fielder.
  13. Now this game is what I call entertaining.
  14. McCann looks to be under control in his at bats. I know he probably won't hit .350...but it doesn't look lucky. He had 10 or 11 pitches on that drive caught at the RF wall. Very impressed with him.
  15. Great game against a team and pitcher we supposedly couldn't beat. We even did it with Nova pitching who I'm not very fond of. Did you guys notice he pitches faster with a nice lead. Maybe we should get him a nice lead whenever he pitches.
  16. You and me both.
  17. Don't disagree but would like to get something out of this season like major league adjustment. Also, something is needed to keep fans interested.
  18. People will say it's the wrong baseball move but I think it would be a smart marketing move. I don't necessarily agree with those who believe you can't learn at the major league level. Isn't that where we have the best coaches. Who cares if he makes some rookie mistakes. At least there would be a reason to watch the game.
  19. As hardcore fans... most of us follow the teams day to day struggles during the rebuild. Bad pitching and lack of hitting frustrate us beyond words. Frustrating to look forward to the game only to have it be over in the third inning. My question....what can JR due to make the game interesting while this is going on? The stadium is empty and not many are watching. Bill Veeck was someone that understood that baseball needed to be entertaining even if not good. When hardcore fans are bored it can't be good for the long term health of the organization. Hey Jerry...DO SOMETHING!
  20. My guess is he's traded by July 31. The log jam of potential 1st basemen / DH has to be broken up sometime. Might as well be now while we can get a useful piece in return.
  21. poppysox posted a topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just released by Cincinnati. Any interest?
