Maybe Engel hasn't put in the work himself? Okay but still the Sox fault as well for not unlocking his potential.
-
All we can do is try, If the Sox are so lazy as to not try for a players potential, then shame on them.
-
Haha I will take u up in that. We can fry your hat if you would like.

If this is true, and there is no room for improvement, then let him go. It doesn't matter how good the defense is,if he can't hit .200 then I'm not sure he is worth a roster spot. (Although I'm not sure I can stmach watching Leury in CF).Does Engel have options?
-
Ok but just as the OP says once he goes to a different team we see better results, why can't it be here? If he can improve,I'd live to see him starting in CF for the next 6 years.
-
To be honest I would send him down to AAA and let him work on these things with a competent hitting coach.
-
I disagree in the fact that he may not develop into a superstar but can still be atleast a reliable leadoff hitter if they develop him properly. His AA numbers look promising although his 129 strikeouts to only 18 walks last year is not MLB type player, and we can tell he hasn't improved much this season. If I were hitting coach I'd turn him into a poor man's Juan Pierre where Engel makes alot of contact, beats out throws, bunts, slaps singles, cuts back on K's,and wreaks havoc on the bases. .275 average, .345obp 50sb. Problem is, his clock is getting shorter.

I agree with this. The White Sox lack in developing players as they are considered the worst at that. Engel is nice to watch player center, he makes plays look easy and can get to balls others cannot. If like you say he could only get on base. The key here is get on base because he also has a great speed and would be a terrific lead off hitter. Maybe the Sox messed him up by trying to force him for more power when as a lead off hitter getting basehits and walks and torturing opposing pitchers on the base paths is what we need, and we need it now.

I don't understand, Ed Farmer praised Cordell on his Fielding and terrific mechanics before Cordell got sent down. But watching Cordell, he looks like he can get to the ball and way better than Palka, but he only uses one hand to catch the ball, like he is hotdogging it. Why don't outfielders catch the ball with two hands anymore?

So showing someone up and taunting them is ok? Allowing too much celebrattion is going to get tempers flaring too, there will be a negative revenge factor. Maybe we should let the players box after the game? I'd rather watch a classy game where players are humble than some sort of theatrical show. If I was a player I would never have time to throw a bat, I'd be running too hard to first base. -

No tanking, never tanking. That's not White Sox baseball. Plus, this division is up for grabs. -

They need to bunt or do something to knock off Norris from his rythm. -

"Castillo giveth Castillo taketh away" I'm starting to think Benettisms are catching up to Hawkisms, and Bennetti is a youngster. -

My last post was not directed at Anderson specifically. "The South Side, we're different. We're different over here. It's a grinder side. We want to go out and attack. You expect to hustle. And we're moving forward. We're going to rise up today and carry those South Siders. Let em know" - Tim Anderson in spring training. He is a major impact on this team. I like him. -

This is all about the virtue of temperance and sportsmanship. A little celebration is ok but shouldn't be taken too far (as 5 minute dances and skits in the NFL), and it also depends on the circumstance and intention. Circumstance in that the celebration after winning a championship is different then a player hitting a double. Intention in that if a player taunts the other team it is not sportsmanship. -
Tim Anderson to be suspended 1 game for... language?

Suspension to Timmy and Ricky... Just deal with it.... More importantly, let's go and win this series vs. the Tigers!
