  1. definately agree on Little Ceasars reality is that you cannot get real pizza or even pasable pizza in Michigan, got to go to Chicago for it if your friends who are putting down detroit are WMU students, and I know WMU students well, used to manage the Jimmy Johns across from Waldo, they are suburban kids who don't know s*** about Detroit. Detroit is no Chicago in terms of things to do, places to go, people to see, but, having lived there and going there as often as I do with my grandson who admittedly is a 9 year old thug gangsta who packs heat to go to various rap concerts and other things, you can tell your friends they are full of s***. I cannot think of one part of Detroit I wouldn't go to, with the kid, whenever. The whole Ford-Comerica-Fox Theatre area is great, Greektown, the casinos, the UD area, the WSU area, up and down Woodward, where ever, a lot of great places to go. Think of all the s*** that cubbies say about the USCF neighborhood and there is your analogy. You do like Comerica more than I do. If I were a Tiger fan, I would love it, but all I will grant is it is ok. Usually a good number of Sox fans there representing. The tigers with baseballs in the mouths make me think of cats throwing up furballs. And it is almost impossible to crash the box seats, those elderly ushers will get you every time unless you tip them really well. It always gets me how much more their concession prices are (but I hear USCF is actually about the cheapest anywhere), the price of parking, but they have great large pretzels. And the statutes are neat. That field is a cavern and Tiger fans lack many traditions but it is a great place to watch a game. I definatly prefer it to Miller. At Comerica I feel like I am at a ballgame, like I do at USCF, not all boxed in like at Miller. And Comerica at night, all the neon, is really something to behold.
  2. and thanks for that you are right of course and it needs to be pointed out sometimes, alas it is not remembered as it should be some things are not tolerated my apologies to Critic and everyone that something like this happened
  3. sox vs sox would be fun for the pennent
  4. That was perhaps the quiestest big season ever. he did most of it after the All Star break when all the attention was on the north side.
  5. as 2K4 said, welcome to soxtalk I am going to disagree with you on Detroit, since I have lived there and get back there often, it is not a ghetto. I suppose some of us are as sensitive to that as we are when we are told USCF is in a ghetto or bad crime neighborhood. To the Bronco: I might go that day. I love Kalamazoo.
  6. you are lucky to have a father who is a Sox fan! In fact, you are blessed. My best to you and your father
  7. I was just married to the non ex wife, 6 months in, and we had moved from Detroit to where we were at then. To me Steve Dahl was and always will be a detroit disk jockey (and like Cheat, I never will listen to him but unlike Cheat I couldn't stand him in Detroit either) who was new to Chicago. It was a double header and we had tiger baseball on and announcer Al Kaline was stunned - and so was I. It was not funny, it was not remotely funny. Nothing ever made us look worse. We were at a game a few weeks later and the outfield was in pathetic shape and stayed that way through the end of the season. It was as if it had been gouged by giants. It was horrible. 2k4, tell your dad to re-check. I am not for correcting someone else's father but it was between games of a doubleheader. We forfeited game 2. But they did play the next day. IIRC.
  8. 11 saves out of maybe 678 mound appearances and 667 losses? Damn, he was bad. Trading him for Garland was one of the best all time trades ever.
  9. Miller Stadium parking sucks this is not profound, just that I really hate Miller Stadium parking Comerica parking is not bad if you are prepared to pay $$$$ We have it good at USCF
  10. I agree - although I never leave after a game - I stay for the band show and then meander to my car so I miss the immediate post game exodus
  11. good catch - I was going to comment on that and missed it - 20 minutes!!!!!!! may that be the longest wait of anyone's life!
  12. sox parking is about as good as it ever gets, anywhere. they do a good job. 37,000 people on Saturday means it will take time getting in. Get off at Pershing and not 35th, It is faster. Better yet, park and ride the CTA. From the north, usually park at Rosemont or Cumberland. Not sure from the south or west but you can park and ride a lot faster than driving many times, especially with big games. Now you know why regulars often joke about how great crowds of 12,000 are!
  13. nor I a meaningless trivia that throws off a players swing and sure did to PK last time
  14. On those very rare occasions that CLee watches a home run ball we get threads saying he is a showboat jerk who should be set to A ball or something like that Mr Dylan did an effective job of parodying those threads which have bashed CLee for doing what Jose did for the record, as I posted in the bash CLee threads, I have no problem with CLee - nor with Jose - on this
  15. a white sox shirt - oh really? I asked exactly what shirt - a 1983 home jersey the thread title is based on the liturgcal calendar of the Revised Common Lectionary by the way in my line of work it is important
  16. pregame trivia question - in Breafast Club, exactly what shirt is Carl the janitor wearing?
  17. take back your former governor and keep him on his ranch!!!!!
  18. no, does not cause damage or end careers, one just needs a lot of eye lubricant
  19. that was a better moment - what I remember as his most typical moment when there was a close play and the umpire called it and Bevington went ou and screamed at the ump to reverse the call and the ump did - which made it then go against the Sox yes, Bevington argued a call that was in our favor -
  20. and of course that is totally wrong
