Who is George Romero? If you heard that they are building a statue in front of the park, that is BS, there is already one in the oversized batters box whenever there is a man on first and less than 2 outs. What is shakin? Any reason for them to keep my money as a deposit? I told the ticket guy that if Colon doesn't come back, seats will not be hard to come by and my season tickets will go the way of out pennant hopes, out the window. He chuckled and agreed. lol fan of mine.. i figured the zombies pic that was posted with the original comment would tip ya off.. have you ever heard of night of the living dead???? hes the guy who made the movie happen........sorry sometimes i foreget how young most of you guys are lol........lol no statues.. and is your window open??? now would be a good time to use it...... You made a $10 referance to a $3.00 crowd it seems - I can't believe anyone hadn't heard of George Romano - and you even gave a picture clue! no respect at all for the classics Kids - what's the matter with kids today... (think anyone will get that referance? ) I got the Romero reference and thought it was hysterical. If I had thought it would be missed by so many, I'd have posted my kudos to you. I got the "Kids" reference too. Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way? Just the advantage of age. Oh, and bye bye Jerry. anyone old enough to be Al Lopez' ghost should get those referances! oif course, I am old enough to make them! but HSC is not old enough, she is just very smart!

why is Bell a factor in this conversation? He was never our manager. As for Backman, I very much disagree with you. Cw, the reason I say Bell is because I am reading Bell and Backman are top 2 to replace JM. I have never heard the name of Bell mentioned as a candidate except by you today where have you heard that elsewhere? Bell would be, IMHO, a bad choice I watched him manage in Detroit and I was not impressed at all in any way even though I thought originally he'd make a good manager - but his actual managing showed that is not the case, as I saw it
-
CW you like Backman , I do not , you got your opinion on him so do I. you miss the point it is not about opinion it is use of the word "s***ty" to describe someone who has been a very successful minor league manager tell me exactly why he is "s***ty" to say you don't think that he is the person for the job is one thing and that is an opinion, right or wrong, it is legitimate to use words like "s***ty" to describe makes it something different and that is the point If you used the word "s***ty" to describe Manuel's record, that is also not the point because there is a track record there and whether I agree or not it is fair use but what has wally backman ever done to deserve such harsh language, that is the point

Those are harsh words there... ... and very undeserved when used against Mr. Backman.

they have 10 games left, we have 11 do the math last night's loss was killer we can do it, but hardly likely at this point, especially as we essentially need to pull an 11 game winnig streak. We win 3 in a row and they lose 3 in a row beginning tonight and the odds change dramatically - but that is hardly likely. If the twins blow it, it won't be the biggest flop in abseball - maybe the '64 Phillies have that honor for this stage of the race - but hardly, remotely likely that will happen now. Do I still hope? yes. Am I making plans to come to Chicago in october for baseball? Not at all. Have I given up? No. Do I think we will do it? No.

I didn't think active service personnal were allowed to drugs! Bush loses in 2004. And it needs to be, before he totally destroys the American economy. Oh, and it has been your combat pay that he tried to cut that the Democrats in Congress lkept. Bush defeated on attempt to cut combat pay When Bush tried to cut your combat pay, the congressional Dems raised hell and then the GOP got in congress got on board so as not to look bad, but get real, don't ever live in the fantasy that Bush is the friend of the enlisted personnel.

D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one. Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Otter: Germans? Boon: Forget it, he's rolling. Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... [thinks hard] Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! [runs out, alone; then returns] Bluto: What the f*** happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer-- Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part. Bluto: We're just the guys to do it. D-Day: Let's do it. Bluto: LET'S DO IT!!

have you actually listened to any Bush speech in which he says 9-11 and Iraq and Al queda and Hussein in the same sentence over and over and over? The text of the speech the night we went to war with Iraq - the state of the union (in which bush failed to mention bin laden at all) - Bush has over and over and over and over linked these things. No he never said "Iraq did 9-11." That is the art of cya in politics. But he has inferred, implied, and pushed his policies on that basis over and over. Check his speech texts. Same sentences he uses these words to create linkage in the minds of the American people for something that is not so to justify his policies.

These fantasy questions may seem more real at 16 than at my advanced age but I would say, never. If it were only to happen once, why have it and then have nothing ever to look forward to again but guarenteed failure? The way it is now, I always have hope each spring. I'd rather live with hope, knowing that it may never happen, then live with certainly that it will never happen again. And if I chose to have it, say, this year, would honor and intregrity compel me to immediately kill myself so that I wouldn't live a long time thus keeping it from happening again in my long life rather than die to allow it to happen in someone else's lifetime? -
I don't know how anyone can give up yet. But this cannot hold a candle to some past most disappointing seasons. 1994 and 1984 have been mentioned - 1967 is the one that I would give the award to as most dissapointing - pick any season from 1960-1966 and find disappointments and missing out by 1 game - but what about 1920 - crusing in first, a few weeks away from the series and the Black Sox thing broke and the team fell apart and there went that season and the next 38 after that.

I take it that that is an incredible compiment of strength. No male has the balls to go through the discomfort and then pain of childbirth, because men are such pussies. In that the future of the species depends on the strength of those with vaginas to continue to show their great strength in giving birth, then this phrase must surely define a person of tremendous strength!

1. what did Paul consider an intentional act of sabatoge? The mixing of Long and Winding Road, as it came out on album, to make it even more sweet and syrupy than it already was - that of course was the only non George Martin produced album. 2. the original White albums were not entirely white covers - what was on the cover that wasn't white, only on the originals? stamped numbers 3. What was on the album Best of the Beatles? saongs by Pete best, who was kicked off the Beatles for Ringo - a lotr of people bought it thinlking it was Beatles hits 4. original Ed Sullivan appearance, Beatles sang a song from a broadway show and it was...? Til thgere was You, by meredith Wilson, from The Music Man 5. Who announced John's murder to the world, in terms of being first on the air, and on what tv show? Coseelll, as discussed 6. According to right wing religious idiots, what was the real meaning of the phrase "Norwegian wood"? They were wrong of course but it was a part of their attempt to say the Beatles were an evil influence. 7. Easy: who originally came up with the phrase Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? Julian, John's son, and John always maintained to his death that was the origin, off a picture that Julian drew 8. What is the musical secret of Do You want to Know a Secret? It was written to have what, and why? the most limited range of notes as possible so George could have something to sing that didn't tax his limited voice at that early stage of their career - I think the entire range of the song is 6 notes, the original intent was 3 notes - or it is 3 notes total with shaps and flats included - very stressful day at work and I am remembering nothing right now - anyway, that is why the notes go up and down the way they do, to make it easy to sing too - hum it very slowly and you see the simple structure of the song Edit to add two tough ones: 9. What is Paul's real first name, and besides John's song asking the question, how did Paul sleep according to the early fan magazines? James, and in the nude 10. The first Beatle to visit the United States was _____ and he visited _______ because ______. George, a few months with his sister in downstate Illinois in the early 1960s, maybe 62, but I can;t remember anything right now, and damn I know the name of the town and I forget it right now as it is very stressful at work today - if he had stayed in the states, history would be altered - but he returned to England and thus was history made
