  1. I saw your soul up in Winnetka trying to find a home with some rich family.
  2. Louisiana Tech and UM have never played a game of football. Not sure they have ever played a game of anything. What happens to MSU is merely a matter of amusement to me.
  3. All that is probably JM's fault too. Zach, the post you are replying to - that one stuns me - for the first time ever I am at a loss to know what to say - I fear we will lose 27-0 because of it though
  4. If I were Rob Gallas, I would shoot myself but before I did that I would schedule "White Sox Optomology Week" with a special "free depth perception test" night for 90% of our fans. Other than RPS yelling "get out" on an infield pop up, every game features Sox fans sitting in every area of the park going "oooooooooo" on fly balls to short center and medium short and second, and "oooooooooooo" on balls going foul by 30 rows. The reason I often take the el is I don't want to be on the road with so many depth-perception challenged people. Sox fans may know baseball as well as they say, but they often cannot tell the difference among a ball that is going 20 rows deep beyond the bullpen, one falling twenty feet short of the bullpen, and one going 20 rows foul. It astounds every game. Get your eyes checked, people! It is not where you sit, its not the upper deck - you have vision problems! Check it out; Sit in USCF with your eyes closed. Listen to the crowd go "oooooooooooo" and count to five, then open your eyes. The left fielder will be catching a ball well in near the shortstop. Do it when Frank is at bat: the higher the ball goes in the air, the obvious trajectory will be the center fielder catching it a hand shake away from the 2nd baseman but the crowd noise makes it sound like a possible concourse shot.

  6. for an admitted republican (and isn't admitting that like admitting you are a drug addict?) you say some very wise things about baseball!
  7. depends what you are used to I can track everything perfectly in the upper deck when I sit in the outfield or anywhere down below it takes me several innings to get oriented it is not the upper deck that throws your perspective off, it is merely what are you used to in actuallity - unless I ever inherit enough money to buy club level - I vastly prefer the UD to down below and the upper deck is my seating of choice

I don't understand half of what I say either but the two versions match enough - Paul saying it was an affair and John saying the phrase Norwegian Wood was word play and not coded language.

The so-called immorality of the song was to be found in Norwegian Wood not being a statement about interior decorating but meaning "knowing we would." John always denied that in every interview I read. That was in the days when people were burning Beatles albums because they were so immoral. Paul McCartney actually told that story the night he was the only guest on Jay Leno (along with his new wife). I never watch Leno - I missed that! Right now I am very, very grateful that Paul gave the same explanation as me - would be very embarrasing to ask a trivia question and have Paul tell me my answer was wrong!

John, at the time doing heavy political songs, was angry about the trite lyrics of Paul's songs. Paul's musical response to How Do You Sleep was Silly Love Songs. You'd think that people Would have had enough Of silly love songs I look around me and I see it isn't so Some people wanna fill the world With silly love songs And what's wrong with that? I'd like to know 'cause here I go again I love you, I love you

Right. Dolphins were playing, I think at Jets, anyways it was a Dolphins game and Howard Cosell suddenly stopped for a second in an exciting 4th quarter close game and then said something like, "here is news that makes all of this meaningless" and then announced about John's death.

More trivia: 1. what did Paul consider an intentional act of sabatoge? 2. the original White albums were not entirely white covers - what was on the cover that wasn't white, only on the originals? 3. What was on the album Best of the Beatles? 4. original Ed Sullivan appearance, Beatles sang a song from a broadway show and it was...? 5. Who announced John's murder to the world, in terms of being first on the air, and on what tv show? 6. According to right wing religious idiots, what was the real meaning of the phrase "Norwegian wood"? They were wrong of course but it was a part of their attempt to say the Beatles were an evil influence. 7. Easy: who originally came up with the phrase Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? 8. What is the musical secret of Do You want to Know a Secret? It was written to have what, and why? Edit to add two tough ones: 9. What is Paul's real first name, and besides John's song asking the question, how did Paul sleep according to the early fan magazines? 10. The first Beatle to visit the United States was _____ and he visited _______ because ______.

Stu's girlfriend was named Astrid and cannot recall her last name but she took some early photos of the Beatles and helped them get their look together before they hit it big. Those photos by her are famous amongst the old times, about as important for the early iconic look as the Avedon photos, the photographer on the Meet the Beatles cover.

    1) first solo album was done by Ringo, i believe. Wrong. It was Wonderwall by George, sitar music. The group Osis ripped off the album title for their drippy song of the same name. never sit near me when that Oasis dreck comes on the radio. 2) Prudence I don't exactly remember, Julia was for John's mom. Mia Farrow's sister. 3) Dylan introduced them to marijuana. Either he or George's dentist, both are credited from different sourcees. 4) Stu was the original drummer of the band. Stu was not the drummer, that was Pete Best. Stu was an art student, close friend of John's, and they gave him usually a bass to stand around with. he couldn't play nor sing but was such a close friend and artistic inspiration - when the 3 (J, P and G) had to make a decision about Stu, keep him or dump him, Stu died unexpectedly. Some of the p[oety and some of the early darkness in the Beatles music is the reaction to Stu's death. 5) mop-top i believe - see my comments about - when asked, George named it "Arthur." 6) got me on that one, didn't cover that. "In the middle of the night..." John did many things but sometimes, "... I call you name, O Yoko, o Yoko, I'd love to turn you on."

everyone things Ram was the first, but they are wrong. and for what was John bitter in that song - it was very specific - in the original interview at the airport, the Beatles gave the hair cut a name: they were asked, what do you call it and George replied with a male name.

give me a break kid!!!! There are more Beatles fans out there! And I yield as a Beatles fan to no one! 9 February 1964 is a sacred day in my calendar. And December 8, 1980 remains a tragic day in my life. I am at work and hadn't seen this til just now, otherwise would have jumped in sooner. Best album is the White Album, 2nd best is Sgt Peppers, and Meet the Beatles (which isn't in the catalogue anymore) remains a personal favorite because that was the first one we could have in America. And if in the right mood I can still sing "She Loves You" in German - some things you never forget!
  21. KT, you make a big deal out of ND when they win, expect to hear it when they lose, especially when yu dissed the team they lost to when you you were celebrating the week before. The "Houston ain't Washington state" comments were particularly interesting when UM's victory was put down. And please remember, when you make a big deal when ND wins with "here come the Irish" the expected response is so very obvious when they lose... and not just alone alone but ALL the ND fans who went into hiding - all of them - a year ago when Michigan lost the final gun was still being fired when the email and the posts stgarted coming my way from ND fans. Probably not from you since you weren't here a year ago, but they came. This year all the ND fans were -- no where to be found. But you asked for it with the Here Comes the Irish thread. Had that not been posted, I for one would have never posted about Michigan beating (stomping, destroying) ND this year. But you can't taunt when you win and expect to hear nothing when you lose, especially when you put us down last week, and DoubleM's outrage by the way is so cute, so typical ND. And so many other ND fans - where are you? Even Jason was so fast to post when Michigan fumbled on its opening drive and we heard nothing the rest of the game. Can't have it both ways. I have taught my grandson not to trash talk, ever. I have my expectations for this season. And I know damn well that Michigan will lose some games in my lifetime, some of them to ND, so you don't see me posting here after any Michigan win - well, you might after the OSU game and the bowl game, but that is it. I never would have posted after this game in this place had it not been for "here come the Irish" and the simultaneous put down of Michigan's 50-3 win over Houston and the s*** that was said last year. You got what you asked for, and every ND fan who hid - tell me for real that every ND fan was posting on 9-6 and every ND fan off line on Saturday AND Sunday 9-13 and 9-14??????? Had you won - as happened last year - we would have flooded with ND rules UM sucks posts as has happened in the past. That is why CK and I among others were so struck by the absence of any ND fans this year.
