that's real smart... or not. Just go simply, a fan - the smart play tonight at games end was to talk quietly with one friends and not be going "Yankees suck" in the faces of their fans - usually all it needs however, you do bring a gun - I'll either testify that you are a character at the sentencing phrase of the trial, or I'll give you one hell of a funeral sermon. "He was nuts, but we loved him. Or like him. Or kinda knew him." you know I luv ya buddy! leave the gun at the amory

hey, you met the Sox dogs, I just remembered, Memorial Day Monday 2002. Tommy is still Tommy but Tenoch has a new middle name: MB. Please be kind and do not post what his old middle name was. And you can vouch that my dogs have real white sox - in fact, they are all white, but what the hell They don't do beer at all and while they would love the pretzels, too much salt for them so we stick to the premium dog biscuits on game days - they are sulking, the game is over, the treat bag has been pout away
-
whenever I yell, with hawk, "you can put it on the board, yes" the dogs come running into the room expecting their expensive dog treats, not the cheapie ones, and opf course they get them since I am not going to jinx the Sox by giving my dogs anything less than the best for Sox homers. (By the way, my dogs have been to USCF/Comiskey a lot and never on dog day - they are well known there in the Gate 7 area, my dogs are in fact Sox fans there more than many fans, and like me, the dogs do live two states away and still make it often) when mags hit that last one, I had to open a brand new bag of $$$$ dog treats. But the dogs are happy and the Sox are hitting so - blame all the home runs all season on my dogs - they send out a vibe, that's why we have played long ball so well they also get treats on every Michigan football score - yell Go Blue! and running they come!

as someone who went in full M gear in Illini stadium... I would never be intimidated out of wearing Sox gear in any stadium but I suggest, based on bad stories I've heard, you go as low key as possible ands till in Sos stuff - I'd do my subtle Sox hawaiian shirt and a crossed socks hat the first night just to see what it is like - also in other stadiums I tend to be, how can one say, less boisterous in cheering, no need to be in someone's face in their own stadium - after the 2000 Illinois game all of the M fans banded together in the end zone and we waited en masse until the Illini fans left, as close as I have been been to worrying about physical safety -

I will tell you nothing about Andy the Clown because your asking about him, knowing nothing about him, makes me feel very, very old, like I am fan from yesteryear. Which I guess I am but don't need to be reminded.

the books are excellent, some the best American writing of the generation, but definately not for everyone. The hampster cage was not in the movie - a lot of us held our breath on that one - the movie is probably the best one from his novels - problem with his writing is when people read it on your recommendation, they either say, "wow, this is among the finest, most evocative writing of our time period which really captures the zielgeist of the era" or they say "you are really, really sick."

GUG is not a superfan, he is a real person, a good person, a generous person, a die hard fan, and not seeking glory, just being a sox fan, and he is one of the kindest, most generous people I know, he is for real, and not for pretend glory - he is all about the Sox. I agree that show off fans are a joke but let me assure you that is not GUG. He is a very good person and a great Sox fan and like me waving my sock or Zach23 and Huge chanting "take him out, leave in him" or HSC yelling "nice ass" to Magglio (or Borchard), just another part of the real Sox fans being themselves.

Ghost, I didn't read your post before I answered Patrick_Bateman - good call, good memory yeah it is either BrandoFan and an American Psycho/Bret Easton Ellis fan - Patrick Bateman makes a brief appearance in at least one other Ellis book (Rules of Attraction) although it is his brother Sean who is the star of that one - I am not sure what to hope for, BrandoFan finally coming home or a brand new Ellis fan to talk great literature with (the movies all suck compared to the books but you can't do that stuff in movies...)
-
Agreed. Patrick Bateman - welcome now you would either be the return of BrandoFan or you are a brand new member you has a thing for the writings of Bret Easton Ellis (as I do) and American Psycho in particular so if you are BrandoFan, welcome back, and if not, I welcome another BEEllis fan to soxtalk but stay away from me with the hampster cage

you didnt like the bit of the lava lamp and the black velvet oil painting of elvis singing?????? you know the lava lamp and the black velvet elvis (or at least, black velvet) had their role in that movie - I went for that quote because it included your conversational threads!!!!!!!!!!!! gees, try to be inclusive and you get beaned.

since I had so many diverse answers on what this thread is about, I thought I'd throw something ad hominen in just for the hell of it. Might bring new dimensions to the conversation as it has religion, and why PK is getting no sex right now, and an alluison to the Foulke-Koch trade.

can anyone summarise what this thread is about, with a special BRIEF synopsis of the 5 main arguments in this thread?
