He created a media monster, cuz nobody wants To see Frank no more They want Hurt on chopped liver Well if you want Hurt, then this is what he'll give ya.... 50 home runs and an MVP sticker Some concourse shots that'll jump start your heart quicker than a shock when you get shocked at U.S. Cellular by the rest of the Sox who will co-operating When Frank's rockin the Cell and the Sox operatin (hey!!) You waited this long, now stop debating Cause Frank's back, Twins on the rag and ovu-lating I know that you got a job Mariotti but our 2003 Sox will be complicating So the Tribune Comp. won't let Frank be or let Frank be he, so let me see They try to shut us down in the MLB But Frank will lead us, in our victories.

got to be thinking that our out of state fans may not know what a parrothead is - why they always show up on Caribbean nites as well as a few other times, I have no idea, but people seem to enjoy wearing them - a lot of folks were in Hawaiian shirts too, and they had several bands around on the park and on the fan deck before the game, and some band play before the fireworks - very festive and the fans loved it - people dancing and no one left - of course Frank's 8th inning heorics helped there - it was one of the more lively Saturday night postgames I have seen, just very festive, lot of dancing in the aisles in the upper deck and people singing Day-O all the way down the ramps - this is not a picture from tonight, just a picture of parrotheads

Frank has always been an adequte to good fielder (not great, but good enough). I am very happy to see him playing 1st everyday. He certainly looks happier - as well as is hitting happier! CK, that was an awesome blast and the key to 2000 IMHO, that so often when the other team scored on us, we came right back and scored on them and Frank was usually a part of that. I see that happening again of late. Loaiza has been down two games in a row 2-0 after the 1/2 inning and we have won both games - we trailed today - we've been coming back not often enough (Wednesday and Thirsday) but far more than we were earlier on. Frank belongs at 1st. He's happy and we are happy. I understand he is just DHing tomorrow and PK is playing 1st but the intent is to rest Frank one day after all these days of being on the field after he hasn't been for a while and then he'll be back at 1st against Boston.

Wrong! We won AND we had fireworks AND on Caribbean Night, parrotheads were on sale for $7 each so I stocked up for Halloween! Trust me, I did not wear a parrothead, I merely put them in the bag for October 31 use.

Not sure if you were at the game and couldn't really see from where you were at, but trust me..... Lee dropped a ball that scored the tying run and it landed right in his f***ing glove . Me, Maury, and Guido all saw it from the SnR chopper If it was in his glove, that we did not see - the kid sitting next to me (an MIT student and an ump) were comparing scoring notes all game and we both thought the ball fell in front of Lee. Without instant replay at the game... you were watching on tv with replay so you saw something we didn't. And I did not have Ed and John at that point on so I missed their call of it, I would have realized CLee dropped it in that case. That called third strike on Frank in the 5th had us all angry - there was no way he swung, I have no idea what the 1st base ump was watching when he called Frank out on the appeal to first.
-
We won a division title with them both - although Valentin was hitting about 60 pointsd higher then - Lee sure had a timely hit tonight. He is doing that a lot. A stat from last night;s game on the scoreboard - I should have written it down - something like 9 of 15 (now 10 of 16) of Frank's home runs have put us into a tie or the lead. That is pretty clutch. I didn't realize that until the scoreboard posted that yesterday.
-
A lot of us in the upper deck were screaming something very similar to that when we saw Jose round 2nd and not stop - the dumb s.o.b. I would have yanked my grandson out a game and made him sit for that one!
-
The error was, according to my scorecard, on Burroughs hit in the 8th. now maybe Lee was closer to the play than i thought - there was no instant replay - if the ball was in his glove - which I didn't see - I don't know why the error is credited on the throw as I just checked the box score on the MLB site. Jimenez sure bobbled the damn ball in the 9th - could have been a double play to end the game - maybe not but at least one out - Maggs home run was just mammoth.
-
???? I have just gotten home from the game. The Padres first run was one of the stupidest and most unusual plays that I have ever seen - Graf is trying to tag out Klesko between first and second while Loretta is happily running towards home. Lee did not drop any balls. He had an error on a throw. He tried to make what would have been a fantastic catch and didn't make it, but he didn't drop the ball. It was a great game to be at because of Mags and Lee and Frank - Mags homer was a mammoth shot. Wright pitched ok. Anyone want to talk about dumb and stupid and could have cost us a run and maybe the game - trying St JosE6 doubling in 3rd and being thrown out by 20 feet trying to make it into a triple. Anyone wants to throw insults at a Sox player for tonight's game, Valentin is the player to throw the insults at. I have never seen a player be out by that great of distance. Then again, I never saw a play where the Padres scored in the 4th, with Wright throwing to Frank and Frank tossing to Graf who chases down Klesko while everyone forgets there is a runner on 3rd who is officially stealing home but more accuratley could be described as scoring on the old "hidden runner" trick.

Lee did not make two errors in one inning. Lee had 1 error for the entire game. Check the box score if you doubt me.

I'm at a friend's house and they are asking if they can use their computer - the nerve of some people! I will get back to you on what I know of Recife, probably tomorrow - take care!
-
didn't know there was such a list.
-
ACT a piece of cake if you can read - fortunately the way it asks questions is the way I understand things best - so I aced it back in the day which was my claim to fame for college applications - good luck! Hey if you really f*** up the ACTS, you won't get into ISU but there is always Iowa!
-
and I'd buy you a beer! I had cousins who lived in Recife (I think that is how it was spelled) - is that anywhjere near you I ask knowing that Brazil is a very very large country - and wasn't Dom Helder Camera from Recife? He is one of my heroes in the church.
-
AR played yesterday - I was there, I saw him play and bat - he didn't start but he played.

so at Friday's victory by the Sox, which I witnessed live, my 3rd trip to the Cell in a week, I got a free White Sox floppy hat - now what the hell am I supposed to do with it? I think it is a sin to own a floppy hat! But on the bright side, thanks to a friend of a friend, I had tickets in section 133, row 16 - very sweet seats indeed - best seats I ever sat in that I had a ticket for! Sat with the 78 year old mother of a friend who kept score in her head better than I do on paper - every inning she knew the season stats and game stats for each Sox player - I was never able to do that without looking at my score card - damn she was good! One of my friends last night it legally blind so I do a play by play for him since he can't see the field - he didn't believe me when I announced a Rios home run! Looking forward to tonight's game - but as a side note, isn't it wierd when we host the Padres and the scrubs are at Toronto? I still am not thrilled with interleague play.
-
I am missing something here - AR played a couple of innings on Wednesday, and played Thursday and Friday - so when is AR not playing?

Question asked and I hear you: so what did happen when Baylor was fired - same major market, this time owned by a major corporate news machine - with a hell of a lot higher attendance than the Sox - now if Jackson was going to make an issue, why not then? Or why not when Jackson was still building a name for himself in chicago in his young radical days and the Sox let go of a black manager? That is answer. Hell, most days I want Wally B or someone else to amnage and I want KW's ass out of here. Firing is not the problem. And as it has not been for Jackson, nor will it be now.
-
now you see, that is just another sign of you being very intelligent...
-
It was God's will.

I disagree with that assessment of Rev. Jackson. I have known him, I have my own opinion of him which is far more unflattering than you might imagine while I also salute some of the many good things he has done. The last time the Sox discharged a balck manager, what did Rev. Jackson say? Oh, not a damn thing? Precisely my point. Exactly my point. We have a track record here. We have history here. We have a reocrd to look at. It is very, very possible that JR has not fired JM for reasons other than what keeps getting suggested ad naseum. Maybe JR thinks JM is doing a good job, or it wasn't JM giving up a grand slam on Wednesday or Thursday, or is too cheap to pay off the rest of the contract, or won't make a change until the end of the year. I am the biggest proponent here (it seems) of affirmative action and I want KW's ass fired. Lots of reasons to do that and it hasn't been done. But you know what - just because some message board posters think someone should be fired doesn't make that a fact that that person should be fired - nor does it make it a fact that the only reason that the person who should be fired in posters' opinions is retained because of race. Look at the record. The Sox have discharged a black amnager before. Nothing was said about that by anyone - not anyone - damm it all to helll, not anyone - not by Rev Jackson who was then based in Chicago nor by anyone else - the Sox have a good record here and unless yout hink JM was hired to be manager for the rest of his lifespan, you migfht want to admit that someday he is going to go and the Sox knew that when they hired him - do you remember Rev Jackson saying a f***ing god damned word when Baylor was fired? Did Rev Jackson say a f***ing god damned thing when Baylor was fired let alone the Sox prior black manager whose name I don't mention bcause I want some people to look it up and learn Sox history. Did Rev Jackson say a god damned thing when Frank Robinson was fired, or Alou, or anyone else you can think of? No? he didn't? Exactly. The everyone STFU everyone about Rev Jackson and race in regards to why or why not JM is still managing. All Jackson has said - and all I want - is equal opportunity in hiring, which means, inclusive interviews. Everyone knows everyone hired gets fired in baseball. But until someone can show me what Jackson said when Baylor was fired or when the Sox discharged a prior black manager, quit playing the f***ing god damned race card. Now excuse me, I have some games to go to.
-
we have had this discussion ad naseum before I am very sick and tired of people playing the race card - get over it and only because I have a lot of affection for the people who created this site am I refraining fJom giving my true opinion on people who keep bringing up jesse Jackson's name - being a very tiny part of the operation here I will hold back my real opinions on this - but for all the white people out there: the Sox have hired and let go a black manager before - when JM goes, as all managers go, he will not be the first African American manager we have hired and let go, nor will he be the last - look it up in the Sox history if you are so unaware of reality - there was no big deal about the discharge of our prior black manager nor will there be this time - the fact that so many are obsessed with color is a sad commentary JM was not hired as manager for life and he will leave us some day one way or the other and race was not a factor in his being hired nor in his being retained now nor will it be when he is discharged and why oh why oh why do people keep playing the race card - it is f***ing tiresome we have a history here people, look it up, learn it, know it - the Sox hire and fire on an equal opportunity absis and that is all people want and that is why when JM goes it will because it is time, and not one minute sooner or later because of his ethnic heritage

Here is what I know about Kittle - at the overnight, Harold Baines spent a lot of time talking to people graciously - in fact at one point a Sox employee sent the grandkid and I over to talk to Harold to rescue him from some people who were just dominating the conversation. Harold insisted on having a picture taken with my grandson - Harold was graciosuness and class supreme and very humble. Kittle was there - standing in the center of things expecting to be recognized and acknowledged - acting like a big shot. (So we ignored him...) Put me down as a Wally Backman guy if and when we make a change.
-
how many times do we go through this - the guy is a big mouth on tv and that makes him what, the Jerry Glanville of the MLB? Valentine is a s*** manager. Look it up. 1. manuel's winning percentage is better than velentine's. 2. Manuel's % of years managed to teams in playoffs is better than valentine's. 3. Valentine has never won a division title, JM has. Those are facts. Opinion: 4. Valentine destroyed the Mets which is why they canned him. 5. Valentine is an assshole. 6. Valentine is just another retread. If we make a change, make it for something decent, not a has been loser.

attendance didn't reach 400,000 that season and most of that was me and the friends that I made go in my Save the Sox for Chicago campaign! I still had fun at Comiskey being with my friends - sountsider2k, while this 2003 team is underachieving, they are not going to improve because I stay away. Going with friends tonight and we'll have a good time.
