how to grade this, I ask ohters - is there any possibility this could still happen or is this a dead thing?
-
I can't give points on this one, never heard that is was ever close to a possibility (note to self, thank God tonight).
-
can't knock this one since it was indeed a real rumor with some substance, glad it didn't go, but at the time if posting, it could have happened
-
what do we grade on this - it was kind of something that happned, but only MJs name is right -
-
how reliable is Rosenthal? if Rios is a jerk, trade him to Brewers for Richie Sexson.
-
I don't get too much into the "if this player comes along and develops, what do we do with that player..." Injuries often say why we need as many players at a position as we can gather -- I feel there are no guarentees that Ring will be as dominating as he is expected to be, I sure hope he is. But highly touted players dont always work out and maggio, LDF, your hesitation is wise just in case Ring isn't the Messiah. I do have high hopes for Royce Ring so I can be there the day that baseball excitment overcomes baggio and he yells out, "Let's Go Royce!" Can't wait for that!!!!!

not argung, just talking - doesn't barrett offer field percenatages and batting averages equivilant with JP who we already have for less money if Olivo is a bust? I just don't see the need. Not arguing with you, but I would be interested in your opinion as to why we need him if we have Paul. You may have an insight that I have not thought of yet.

Guido is just his on-air moniker since he's so pro-Italia. Guess what his real name is? "Hi..... I'm Mike. This is my friend Mike..... this is my friend Mike....." Most of the time, we call each other by last name or nick-name. Just too many studs with Mike as their name. It's not our fault. One of my best memories of SoxFest 2002 was being with my friend Mike and running into all the Mikes and going, Mike, this is Mike; Mike, Mike; Mike, M ike; M ike, Mike; Mike, Mike." I felt so left out not to be a Mike myself! And best yet - all of the Mikes are way cool people - and HSC's son Mike to a great kid, as is his brother who like me is a not a Mike.

Ummmm..... the D-Rays are in the AL then I should quit smoking the hash pipe on Sundays as that is a f***ing stupid mistake that I made - and I confess, I've made it before - I can't get a fix in my mind that the DRays are major league let alone AL. And all Florida teams look alike to me! Well, the will be one of damn stupidest things that I ever posted! Thank you for pointing out my bonehead mistake so politely!
-
then I go back to my original question - why would the Sox want Barrett?
-
You get a 50% on that rumor, which is passing.
-
Not a handsome face or a svelte body among any of them, but all are/were pretty damn good pitchers. kinda my point
-
how bout to cat. more clues! Since we only had a last name of a non Sox player. wasn't sure who was meant. But the phrase "to cat" makes me think it should read "to catch" and that means we are talking about Mike Barret of Montreal. Should have guessed that with the Josh Paul comment. request: please when people post, include a bit of information for those who do not have every teams' 40 man roster memorized - to id "Barrett" as "Mike Barret, Montreal catcher" takes a few seconds more to type but it really helps us stupid people like me. Without looking up is stats - are they good? - what do we gain with him, in anyone's opinions? Asking to learn, I do not follow the NL much at all so I know little/nothing about their players.
-
In Lane 1, Bart Colon In Lane 2, Wilbur Wood In Lane 3, David Wells In Lane 4, Micky Lolich In Lane 5, Terry Forster 50 yard dash - who runs 1 mile run - who finishes
-
Interesting ida on JP - very interesting, I ahdn't thought of that, and might be worth it to make him an all around utility guy since he does offer something with the bat and on the bases - I like your idea!
-
very little to argue about in your post --
-
Not sure what you eman by that - I have always admired Parque's attitude. I wish he would be able to stay with us, and come back from all the tribulations of last year. If he is going to the DRays, then I wish him well and glad he is in the NL so I don't have to root against him.
-
Olivo does have a huge burdern on him, and I hope that he is able to handle it. I think that Alomar will be catching 2-3 games a week, though, and maybe the reduced workload will keep off the DL. I wonder if Alomar will be Colon's designated catcher, given their past working relationship and all the good things Alomar has said about Colon.
-
That is pretty sordid. I wonder if the cubs run a unique or particularly exploitve and abusive program for young Latin American players, or if this is typical of many MLB teams' operations. Does anyone know what, if anything, the Sox do such as this, and if so, what the conditions are?
-
Hey, that was not a slam, just an observation that Mike is obviously the quintessential male Sox fan name!
-
no idea if I will line up for MB's autograph or not but a day or two before SoxFest post something and maybe we can find a place to sign hi - as far as finding RPS, etc, look for a group of about 10 guys, 9 named Mike and one named Guido. It would appear that the mothers of Sox fans were not all that original at naming their kids.

There are four ways to get baggio to show up on the boards, it is a psychic thing with him. One, talk about Evans vs KW. Two, trash on Valentin. Third, trash on Durham.. Four, mention JB. Baggio should be here soon... No way IMHO to signing JB. His high era even when he was on, which was never more than a half season at most, coupled with his stats from the past two years, coupled with, we need to go forward, not going for former players, is enough for me. I never heard of a few people on your list! I am always impressed with those who keep their fingers that closely on the pulse of things, because I can't do it! I admit though I am a bit more of a a fan than I am an expert.

Hunter has talent, no doubt. I also see the development of a selfish attitute in him, which is why I think he has great potential to turn out like Sosa. Just my meaningless opinion. And I do prefer Mags over Hunter, too, in my case, a lot.
