I would like to see documented proof of that for the record.

Since Fidrych only lasted a season plus a few months, I sure as hell hope not. And what is with the Metalica. Why can't we find some players with some taste. Hell, even Korn is better than the tired musical cliches of Metalica. I suppose we should be thankful he doesn't like Rob Zombie.

what you say is all well and good, as is what I posted - our problem as observers is we just do not know what the real market is because none of us are in it. We can only speculate. We can only assume based on what we think went on behind closed doors in a world that we have all watched from a distance but have never been in. I was none to happy when the Durham for Adkins trade was made but as I look back, I am not sure that that was not the best deal under the circumstancess. There is no way of knowing. I do believe that whatever route KW went there would be weeping and unhappiness and complaints. In that case, I think the thread title says it all. For every GM, what is the deciding line in our own minds? None are as smart as they think or as dumb as we think. I get tired of the constant complaints against KW when I cannot get past the fact the Schueler signed Navarro over Clemens and hired Bevington. So anybody after Schueler was a good deal for me. Others will disagree with me on Schueler and point to other things positive that he had done. It is all a matter of picking and choosing what we think we want to make an issue out of. That is not to say that I am a big fan of KW either. I have my complaints about him. But I simply cannot make up my mind on him overall. I do know that continually looking back at the Durham deal is not going to help the cause one bit in 2003, but that is what fans do.

You knoiw HSC, I have KW lined up to meet you in a blind date situation - you keep knocking him and I fear the date will not go well.

If we had just lost Ray, there would have been so much yelling and screaming we all would ha ve gone deaf. that would be so especially if the sandiwch picks were eliminated as everyone thought they would be. "We should have traded Ray and at least get something rather than some damned sandwich pick." The fact that Ray slid over to the Giants tells me again that his value is not what we all thought it should be. Sad but true. We put Ray on eBay and got Adkins. The As put Ray on eBay and what did they get?

what did psycho do now?

i don't recall Jose ever leading off; he may have and I missed it, but I keep score pretty closely and I simply do not recall him ever leading off. I think given his price and his errors, we are seeing the last year of Valentin in a Sox uniform. I'd just as soon have Jimenez start at shortstop despite the adundance of young players we will have out there if he does. Kornerko, Ordonez, Lee, and Rowand will just have to supply veteran leadership. (Lee supplying leadership, what an odd thought. Maybe he can comment on Frank's baserunning some more... )

So, how do the Sox stack up against the Twins?
cwsox replied to Cerbaho-WG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
absolutely right. We have nothing clinched, other than the St Louis rams and their super bowl of last January and the Miami Hurricanes and the Fiesta Bowl win. We have more players, more tools, but we still have to win the games. And that requires our ability to do, just as HSC says. -
anything possible but I doubt it

are you saying that before or after you made that hot choir boy priest love to KW? We are all waiting for that solemn vow to be delivered upon, with proof...
-
Love the idea! I hope KW picks up on this!

fair enough HSC and chisoxfn, but I think the man is figuring out his job and may stary delivering as we hope he can, it just took him time to learn the ropes.

That is not at all what his agent is asking, which is significantly more, much more. And isn't IRod a bit of a stretch now that we have future coach Almoar on board to catch 60 games and mentor Olivo? And for the idea that we get Pudge - there is only one Pudge, and he is retired and in the Hall of Fame and I doubt Fisk will catch for us again, even though he is close by in Lockport. Pudge = Pudge = Fisk IRod = IRod = Rodriguez IRod ≠ Pudge. There is only one Pudge. IRod has a cool nickname of his own.

what are the numbers now, and projections for next round of cuts?

glad for the continual tweaking to make this place always on the up swing - and such a happy time to do it!

liked what you said so much I thought I would quote you so I can read it again...

like Crede, he needs just a bit more seasoning to be all that we wnat him to be when he comes to stay
-
good to hear as we go for the chemistry thing -
-
Murcielago has been strangley quiet - on the phone to KW setting thinsg up, or, thanking KW as promised?

that is a top 3 prior to this week. Other top 3s prior to this week: Snyder/Navarro for Valentin/Eldred and SoSo for anyone/Bell.

doesn't matter who was the driving force behind the trade, something we will never and only speculate on, but points must be given for seeing opportunity and taking advantage of it, at least. And KW may well be growing well into the job, just like a player who needs a year or two to get comfortable in the major league level position.

I'll agree with Cubkilla on this one - JB midseason at earliest

I hope it doesn't pass and the owners are assholes at all times they are together and most times that they are alone.
