How can I say this nicely. Billy Cannon, white, caucasian winner of the Heisman Trophy (1959) is also a convicted felon. No one has suggested his trophy be taken away nor that he lose his Heisman vote. I work in a law office and have for many years. I personally think OJ is guilty, guilty, guilty. However, he was acquited of all criminal charges. Now, on what grounds do you throw someout out of a Hall of Fame after they have been acquited? Because he's black? Pete Rose signed a consent agreement to keep all the evidence sealed. No way should he be allowed into the HOF - and we forget, he is a convicted felon who served time. Because he signed the consent agreement BEFORE he was admitted to the HOF, we can keep him out. HOWEVER had be been admitted to HOF BEFORE the gambling evidence was there and he signed the consent agreement, then how do you throw him out? Is there any procedure in place right now for expelling someone from a HOF? But with Rose and OJ, we are talking two different HOFs anyway so how some of you see these things is parallel confuses me. I don't give a damn how Charlie Hustle was such a great player. There is another meaning to the word "hustle" and that's what he did, he hustled everyone. A cardinal rule in baseball is you do not bet on baseball. And you sure as hell don't bet on your own team and others from the dugout. Am I making this up? Pete Rose signed the consent agreement, not me, and he continues his hustle and his con job (which is ok because he is an ex-con) by plying his trade as a victim. Victim my ass. As for as Jackson, anyone who believes that he did not take money is just ignoring the facts. He himself admitted it, he went to Comiskey and told Comiskey he took the money and knew of the fix. If nothing else, read Eight Men Out and get some facts to go along with the prejudices. Now should Jackson posthumously be admitted to the Hall is an entirely debatable question but at least do it honestly, in that, yes, he was a part, maybe not the lead part, but a knowing part who took the money, of the fix, and given that, should be still be allowed in? And my personal opinion on Jackson: no way should he be in the HOF. I despise him and his 7 friends. If they had not done what they had done, we would have won the World Series in 1919 and for many years after that, my White Sox would have been what the Yankees became, those 8 players cost us how many World Series and how much history. Without them, maybe we would be the ones with 27 world championships, because what they did threw the Sox for a long, long time because of all the after effects of losing 8 players, most of them among the best that ever were. How anyone feels affection for people who cost us our World Series and our history is beyond me. Just my opinion. I expect to get flamed a bit for it. I get tired of people taking macho poses that are so separate from facts.

That was a great moment in WS history.

Presentation name of the game, You say, hey look you jerk, i'm tired of saying you only have 50¢ and not $1.00 so here's 4 bits and flip it at him. That's a loser, it is rude, and would be dismissed. We are Chicagoans, we are Sox fans, we are creative. The person who has the best sense of humor, the one who comes across well, have him say, hey, we saw in the paper your quotes about the 50¢ and so to help you you, cause we love you, you know, and we love our Sox, we took up a little collection for you." And you walk up with several rolls of quarters each wrapped in gift paper with a bow. Everyone laughs, KW has to accept the funny gag gift given in good humor - but the point is made and he will het the point. Sugar it all, sugar the rapier that you are planning to use. How I ask my Buerhle question, I'm planning on wearing my clerical collar (yes, I am an ordained minister, can't you f***ing tell) and I'm gonna be what I am, a small town rural area pastor who loves te Sox and thank you Kenny for all that you ahve done, but I was just wondering, when the contract for $15,000 less was put in place for Buerhle, is there any way that it might have been as an insult that will make current or later negotiations difficult? I will ask in my best small voice and attitude. If we attack him, he gets defensive and can dismiss us. Might even leave if it hets all hostile and confronational and people in attack mode. If we sweeten him up and play it right, we can ask all that we want to ask and he will have to answer and/or at least get a real sense of what we fans feel, because he'll see the sugar coating for what it is, he'll figure out what is really happening. He will know of our anger and our discontent.

and people complain about our ownership and GM... there are a lot worse out there. Ours might not be the best but they are far, far from the worst.

At one of the forums that I was at, anyone could go the microphone, it was open mic Q&A.. Fully half if not more of the questions were of the "how did you like Jose imitating Sammy" and "be sure to beat the Cubs" as if those 6 games were the mlst important in our schedule "we can lose them all but just make sure we sweep the Cubs." Most of the rest of the questions were irrelevant (Todd, do you think you will like Chicago?). Open mic forum and no one asked a tough question of KW. I applaude the preparation of your questions. Mine will be why did we insult Buehrle over $15,000. But you guys have got to make sure you get to the mics, in line fast, before the yahoos get there. Make those plans, to get there early and sit in the right spots. I would also strongly advise that no one ask the question - however blunt - with any attitude at all. No confrontations. No outrage or anger. In the calmest 'I love the Sox and I was just wondering about this' sweet and nonthreatening style you can get a lot further asking the toughest questions then if you go to the mic and say, KW, what's wrong with you, why'd you do this... Use the sugar coating on the rapier questions.

That is the offensive theory I want to use, especially in the early innings, get the lead. This offensive strategy should pay great dividends for us. And it will help the pitchers if they are working with a lead.

If you don't let them in, you don't have the problem with kicking them out. What happens after induction, you are stuck with. The only control is before. Who was that Heisman Trophy winner, the name escapes me, who turned out to be a criminal. You can't take it away after. So, when you can, don;t give it to him. Now Rose has to have lots of space in the actual Hall, ikn displays, his bat he used to break the record, etc. I am sure he is represented within thr Hall. He kust can't be in the Hall of Fame. So his talents and skills and contributions are recognised and as far as I am concerned, the ban is approproate - and the dude with legal counsel signed the agreement to ban him to keep MLB's documentation from being made public. A man who signs an agreement has given his word. And now he wants to break his word. I don't care so much for that on top of everything else. Why don't you and I have a fun conversation about this - which will settle nothing, just present various perspectives, on the radio show sometime?

Boston having a 28 year old GM is an interesting factor in it all. He is a gutsy kid or is he is afraid to act, is he his own man or a puppet. How he factors in the equation makes it kind of interesting in a spectator sport way.
-
When Pete Rose is dead, then, and only then, will I agree that he has served his lifetime ban.
-
What is up with that least team you mentioned - you are covering them as well? Not a good thing.

This proud Italian says pick your fights, and only go with winners.
-
I agree that Rowand brings more than just numbers. I also think his numbers, especially the BA, will be better than what was suggested, and that home run total is about 5-10 lower than I think it will be. The rbis will take care of themselves.

from a legal standpoint, not a good idea.

Just noticed that talking about Sandberg's wife, the thread title is "Sandberg got screwed." I guess only by the Hall, huh? Or was it that when she told him, "you are one in a million," that was the truth?

Is she the reason Palmiero needs Viagra?

I'm too cute ignore for long. The main reason I made sure that I got my seasons ticket renewal in immediately was that special first 500 people only forum with KW and friends (assuming they do it this year like last year). I hope you are planning on being there too. I think we could come up with some good questions And besides that, seeing good friends is a real reason to so to SoxFest anyway. I surely don't need to buy any more jerseys.

HSC could take us all out. And look very hot and very sexy doing it. Now that I think about it, it is a nice thought to picture in my mind...
-
No hockey gear. I only wear that during Stanley Cup time anyway. And if you did rush me, I'd just beat you in overtime anyway. I am going to stay at the Hyatt so if you need a place to leave your stuff while you are wandering SoxFest, you got it. You are one of the people that I most want to see and spend time with and I think we could have fun at the sessions with KW.
-
Would you like him more if he beat on his wife? Whatever the facts of his domestic life, we certainly don't know those facts, and it is none of our business. The truth is never simple in a domestic matter. I'd suspect it takes a strong person to get attacked and not respond in kind. You have to be a pretty hard core person to have your private life discussed and mocked all over the sports media world and still stand tall. So Finley is cool as far as that goes. Now whether we should sign him or not, I don't know, he is getting up there in age for a baseball player and after the Whitesnake incident will he even consider Chicago? If the cost was low enough, why not? But if rejected arbitration, the cost may not be low enough.
-
I will be there Saturday too. Maybe I will bump into you. Since I will not be wearing any, ahem, hockey gear but only WS stuff, will you talk to me at SoxFest?
