  1. If this is a basketball thread, may I take a moment, while I can, to celebrate the 1st place team in the Big 10, the 4-0 University of Wolverines, on their 11 game win streak, 2 games ahead of Illinois - it may not last, so I am enjoying it for all it is worth!
  2. HSC, you have my cell number, I will call you that Friday with my room number, and plan to meet you for breakfast (in bed would be fun...) and take it from there - hope to meet as many folks as we can - that is so much the fun of going!
  3. and how will it feel to hit 2003?
  4. congrats to you - now I humbly request an answer to two questions, meant because I do not know the answer, not because I am trying to be an asshole or argue: 1. Are you really a Sox fan, or primarily a Sox fan, or more of a sports fan who has favorite teams that are not the Sox? 2. Why the name? Because of its implausibility, becasue you want Porzio to get some respect, because you think he can do it, because it is a catchy, creative name, or other reason? I am just curious. Tell me to f*** off if ou want, I am just curious though.
  5. I retain my title as artistic coordinator.
  6. I disagree that Danny Evans should be GM - the man traded for Hundley for pete's sake - he is totally unimpressive as a GM. Manuel should be kept, IMHO, I would love to see him manage us again without KW as GM. JR can continue on as owner (as if our opinion makes a difference) because I know he does care, For the rest of what you posted: a major Right On! The biggest liar in baseball is almost too kind of a sobriquet.
  7. Yeah he would. No question he would. Unless documentation of Cobb betting on baseball was found prior to the vote. Jerks and scums can make the hall, but betting on baseball violates the intregrity of the game and cannot be tolerated.

we will do what we must do - the call to action has been issued.
  9. these boards deserve all the propers that they can garner. I have come to love these boards, not only for the hard work that has gone in to them, but for the assistance that I have received from those who put these boards together. That assistance has shown that the prime motivation is to have a forum for things Sox, not to construct an ego structure to themselves. Maybe that is why I never liked WSI but am thrilled and honored to be a member here where Sox and Sox fans come first, not monuments to egos.
  10. If IRod drops his price to the land of the real, yes. Cruz I could be open to. KW I trust like I trust a snake.
  11. until I figured out the MB and KW thing - no help from you, as I have b****ed to you in private, my love - I thought you were being a bit hard on KW, but when I started doing the math, one of my first thoughts was, 'that is why HSC is so angry.' KW is getting Jerry Krause like. He hasn't driven away the core of the team yet, but he is working on it, and it takes away my joy at the prospects of the upcoming season to know we have a melogomanic as GM. So I can longer think his past moves were victims to unforseen happenings and tough luck - he is just a man with no integrity and no respect for the platers who have made the Sox what they are. No one goes to Comiskey to see KW be GM. We go to see MB pitch. KW has better get that through his f***ing thick ego skull.

I will not let KW driive me away from the team that I love, but I can do what I can to drive KW away from the team that I love and that is about to begin.
  13. bulls*** to the opinion on KW. and get off of HSC on this. I thought she was riding KW hard until I uncovered what KW did to Buehrle and how KW lied to us. I went from being very neutral towards KW to detesting him. Dress it up anyway you want, to offer Mark Buehrle the same offer as last year - when the league minimum went up $100,000 - is a calculated insult to the pitcher we need for this season and seasons to come for the WS to be a winner and a consistent winner. That is not bettering the team, that is f***ing over what he supposedly is trying to build. That is not trying and that is not improving. We get Colon for one year and in the process drive MB away and lose Colon and we will be in such a bad situation we will be looking up at KC and Detroit. Even if we kep Colon and lose MB, what have we gained? What we will have lost is MB, Mr. Consistency. For what KW is doing to MB, he is "that bad."

thanks HSC - what is the purpose of a message board? Is it to argue about which opinion of ours is better than someone elses? To mutually masturbate each other on our quips about this and that? Or to convey facts that concern our team? Not guesses or opinions that cannot be verfied, but facts that affect our team? As soon as I put it together, I posted on the MLB board the truth that KW lied to us trhoigh the media about what he had offered MB. There were threads on here and on the WS MLB board which wondered why MB wouldn't take such a contract, some calling MB stupid or greedy. But KW lied to us, as well as jacked around one of the premier pitchers in MLB right now. Will it be easy to replace a MB who was driven away by being treated so shabbily by KW? KW offered MB the same contract as last year with one minor change, a palyry $10,000 bonus if MB is MVP. Does anything think a contract in the low $300,000 - remember the minimum salaray is $300,000 - with a $10,000 bonus is fair and anything else but a major, major insult? Does anyone think it is an offer designed to do anything else but drive MB away from the Sox? KW making deals we don't like is one thing. KW lying to us is another. KW treating our best pitcher like s*** is news. Setting the stage for our losing MB and all the wins he provides us is news. As soon as I had it confirmed, I posted the confirmed information here. It is cold, hard, unpleasant fact. We know what ACTUALLY went on. We know what happened because the Buehrle family has told us. Do some of us know the Buerhles? Yes indeed. And as I said, and HSC has said, the news will be made public at the right time in the negotiations. HSC says it is a 7 page document. I'd take book on that. Anyone who doesn't care, that is your right. But don't tell me you are a Sox fan if you think it is unimportant when our GM KW jacks around our best pitcher with extraordinarily insulting offers of just over the league minimum and lies to us through the media. At the moment we have among the best 1-2 pitcher combo in baseball. And KW is jeopardizing that. And with that, our chances of ever winning anything because KW is a lying, manipulating GM who woulld for whatever reasons drive away a pitcher who has ben key to us for several seasons and is vital to us ever getting back to postseason and winning in the postseason. What was put together and given to us are facts that have major impact on the future of our team. You may just not care. Your right. But then, you must not care about the Sox to be so blasé about this treatment of our best pitcher.

Calling out in public - and we were told when the time comes, it will be done - is a strategic decision. The time is not right, in the views of the parties. But they have tipped us off to what is happening. And that makes this not stupid, but news.
  16. If you put a Clayton jersey on KW and then said, look at that piece of s***, would you be referring to the jersey or KW?
  17. I thought $2.75 was day-of-game price. Garage sale price should be much cheaper..... base the price on the amount of pocket lint one has on their person while browsing hell, they may pay me to take them all out of there...

the name is 5986 and something HSC said in another thread tipped me off and I went back and read the thread entitled something like 3 things wrong with Buehrle signing and I came upon the following. Since I happen to know who was at the opening day tailgate because I was there and spoke to Mark's brother Jason, his other brother whose name I forget, and Mr. Buehrle, and because I could connect a few other details in the posts to things I knew (ie SoxFest and Dan and the Buehrle's favorite beer), that is how I figured the source of this post. And then I went and confirmed it. And maybe this explains why HSC has been so angry at KW... The post from the MLB boards: Well Hot, I have to agree with you! You know who I am and I know who you are. If you have a question in your mind, let me say this. Don't forget the Busch cuz I'm gonna drink some with ya when we tailgate on opening day. Tell Dan that I want to buy him another sandwich at the Taste of Chicago again this year. Okay now, on to the meat and tater's of this reply. For starters, I know where the author of every negative comment in here about Mark came from. They pulled it out of their gluteus maximus. I'm going to combine a number of comments here regarding some other comments. For one, KW is not negotiating with Mark. The Sox have a person on staff just for that. Mark does have an agent, not a lawyer. The reason Mark hasn't signed is because the contract offered by the Sox is basically the same as last year. It's like offering a kid two quarters one year and five dimes the next. I can say this with 100% accuracy of the facts...not fiction and you know I can. Someone said the Sox saved $15,000 when they screwed Mark last year. Well, that person was right. Anyone that knows anything about baseball knows the Sox doesn't want to spend the money for an all around quality team. They never have and never will as long as the current "Powers to be" are in control. It doesn't take someone with a degree to figure out why Michael Jordon isn't with the Bulls anymore. It's for the same reason Mark hasn't signed. So while they saved $15,000, they lost in the long run. But wanna know something? Even though Mark got the short end of the stick for the past two years, he still went out there and gave it 101% for the pure love of the game and for the fans of Chicago...and baseball in general. Anyone who says different is a real, complete and total dork and doesn't qualify for a spot on the roster of "real" baseball fans simply because they are nothing but jerks. Mark isn't arrogant as some have suggested. I defy anyone who dare say this to go one on one with me (you know I'll win too, don't ya, lol). I think people's problem is they can't stand to see someone as good as Mark do what he does so well - pitch like nothing Chicago has seen for a long, long time. I'll be willing to bet that the dummies that say Mark isn't worth it, couldn't throw a bar of soap in a straight line from one end of their bathtub to the other. Yet these are the same idiots that will boo Mark, or another quality pitcher when they have a bad day. I know, why don't these people apply for a position of pitching coach? They seem to know everything about baseball there is to know, so I'm sure they'd be a real "####"et to the team. Hot, you know what I'm saying it right and true. I wouldn't say these things unless I was willing AND able to back it up with fact, which is much unlike the falicies of those who write negative things about Mark. See ya opening day and again...have the Busch ready!

I am surprized because you don't f*** with the franchise players - pitchers of MB's quality don't show up every day - and because I thought KW had a modicum of honor. Not any more. I can't wait until SoxFest...
  20. If there is one, I will! You know that I felt towards the end of last season that I felt both should go - I have no regrets losing RC and I hope to see our shortstops of the future out there in April. And for those who did not know that I was RC's fan, yes, every player should have one fan, and I was Clayton's one fan. His only fan. And I did get his autograph, and gees was he stunned when someone (me) asked him for it!

Reading some of the posts on the MLB board, I came across a recent one that I was positive came from the Buehrle family, or a very close Buehrle family friend, to the effect that the actual contract offered by KW to MB was essentially the same contract that KW offered MB one year ago. I picked up on that, posted that, and since then Ncorg and Dan the Get Up Guy have confirmed it. Since I know Ncorg has friends in the front office and GUG knows the Buehrles well, that is sufficient for me. I hope that when HSC checks these baords later she will also confirm this. I am officially enraged at KW - angrier than I have ever been at WS management in my long life - not only for f***ing around with our #1 pitcher, playing penny ante mind games with our outstanding pitcher, but for being such a goddamned liar to imply that he offered MB millions when in fact he did not. Tomorrow I am calling the front office to b**** and I hope others do the same. MB is our pitcher and how dare that f***ing lying asshole KW lay these insulting tactics on MB.
  22. oh, I thought we traded him, now that would be a great Jose Valentin story... (picture me ducking baggio's swinging fist...) I'll retract that statment when he goes 10 games in a row without an error
  23. Oh HSC, I think you are as pleasant as you desire to be until someone breaks the code - and we Italians know what that means - and then, in any situation, I am on your side and I place my bet on you - you play it as it needs to be played and didn't I also post that someone takes you on, I won't have to have the bag of chips open by the time you have laid them out? You play it nice as often as you can and not nice as often as you need to and I am always, always your number 1 fan. You'd be Susannah in the opera, on the porch, slapping Little Bat and holding the shot gun to drive off the mob (they knew she'd shoot) because you are one real and together woman who takes s*** from no one. That's why I took you to that opera!
  24. My experience was different, which surely accounts for differing opinions. I met him in Detroit and could not have been nicer and would have signed anything that I had, as much as I wanted. As it was, I did get a bunch of autographs from him. But he would have signed more had I not run of stuff to sign. Different days, different moods, I guess.
