If nothing else this connects to Bush because Bush is president. Leadership has responsibility. Bush wants to take responsilbility for nothing. In the way that it is, it is on "his watch." His watch. What does he watch? He has the lowest curiousity level. He seems involved in nothing and distanced from anything. American intelligence was outsourced, it was subcontracted. Bush did that. He failed to follow up, at the very least. Failure to be involved, to follow up, to be in charge, to be "on watch" during one's watch. I reflect that the problems in Iraq are not sui generis. Given they are third generation to whatever is happening in the news embargoed Guantanamo where counsel and family and contact denied to the detainees and no legal procedures but "intelligence gathering" and the same thing in Afghanistan and that the Iraqis have been complaining of the abuses at all detention facilities in their now third generational detainee situation - and dismissed because they were after all Iraqs... and this administration rushes to court martial 20 year olds as if all this is the result of 6 National Guard folk... consider an American, John Walker Lindh, was stripped naked, tied to a guerney, placed in a closed shipping container and, photographed... that an American Jose Padilla has been denied basic constitutional rights for 2 years - we have had hints of everything, if this is what they do to our own, what will they do to others. A president is charged with faithful execution of laws and needs to have a minimal curiousity to take leadership into ensuring that the law is enforced.

As I recall, Patrick Dennehy was murdered at the self proclaimed Christian school in Texas known as Baylor, a Baptist school, and was, in fact, beheaded. While I was looking to verify that, I found another news story that some Baylor students were recently charged with beheading a cat. It seems Baylor has a problem with cutting off the heads of living things, human and otherwise. Do we nuke Baptists, Christians, Baylor, or Texas?

I missed the Saturday night game (it is now Sunday morning) and will miss Sunday's game because I had to be in Detroit for a Michigan Democratic dinner, the big event of the year, and Senator Kerry could not be there as we all hoped but... By whatever quirk, I was honored as a special guest of the party for my work for the party and they put me in the front row on the dias... the seating, from right to left: US Senator Debbie Stabenow, me, another honoree, US Representive Richard Gephardt, State Party Co-Chair Mark Brewer, Co-Chair Butch Hollowell, Governor Jennifer Granholm, US Senator Carl Levin.... I must have been in 10,000 pictures tonight sitting in that group and as f***ing egotistical as it sounds, I loved the whole evening... tailgating is fun but what a meal this was, worth missing two games for... another way to look at is that the only thing that would take me away from a tailgate with my friends is to sit at the same table as my governor, my two US Senators, and the former Minority Leader of the US House of Representatives... just every once to get an evening with dinner companions like that is something so incredible - I don't deserve it but I sure loved it...

if the Sox winning or losing depended on who started the game threads, we'd be 162-0... on the other hand, baseball is superstititious - but if you feel you are lucky some day, go for it - but too late today!

Please be careful how you read. Comprehension is a skill. I spoke of "some in" not "the." Discuss the difference between "some in" and "the." It is vast. Very vast. I refer you to the last four years of Christian Century for reading on that score, as well as various articles in The New Yorker, the Nation, etc. for discussions of that. There is more to say - but no. What you ignored in this thread and what you chose to imply says a great deal, everything, in fact.

Christian fantacism dates at least from the crusades. We as Christians have no fingers to point. The historical record is repulsive. Does it end with voting Bush out? In many ways it is a necessary beginning. Given the out of touch nature of some in the administration and the open hoping we can set the trip wire for Armageddon of others in the administration and the holy call [sic] that many, including Bush have had with this whole thing, we need an administration that is dealing with the reality as it is and not trying to eschatologise this whole thing. Plus, the obvious out of touchness that Bush has and the conditions created by denial of any type of legal status and all constitutional rights as evidenced beginning in gitmo have created a field where we have seen and reaped the crop. We have issues to deal with, not a holy war. That is getting at the presuppositions of why the administration needs to be changed. I also suggest that the head of the administration is responsible and a change needs to be made to begin to heal with other peoples. When I think thatthe very conservative Senator Lindsey Graham is speaking of murders and rapes that will appall us, yes, we must make a change and do it within months, in 5+ months. CK, if someone says merely removing Bush alone brings a difference, we agree, that is naive. The Democratic nominee will bring as president a far greater grounding in reality and be freed form direct association with this administration and what it has done that gives us the only opportunity we have to turn this thing around. Bush must go. On September 11 2001 we had the support of the whole world. Bush's policies destroyed that in less than three years so now we are hated and live in the fear of what the responses to the horrors continued will be. Change must occur. CK, I wish we only didn't see you for the rare political post. I wish we had you here more often, muvh more often, for more frequent comments form you in this forum and indeed even more in the Pale Hose Side. You are a great Sox fan and person and I miss your presence here. You are always honest, and you know your Sox. I miss you, my friend. I know you will disagree with me with what I have posted above, mosty probably, but my respect for your fidelity to yourself and tyhe person you are emans that with a treasured friend we are merely exchanging insights and the respect is mutual. You are a hell of a good guy.

How many millions of people are saying "Screw the Christian religion, and the United States" with a whole lot of justification. We have one reason right there that no one should have nuclear weapons, no one. If the cycle of violence and hatred is ever going to be stopped, it is not going to be by the exercise of violence and hatred. How many years of human history do we need before we grasp that. God has called us a to a better way, a higher way. Just because so very few people live by that way is not cause for abandoning that call. I read CubSuck's post and I cry. My generation (the generation of G W Bush) and those older and those younger, say, everyone over the age of 20, of every culture, faith, nationality, and citizenship, ought to seriously ask themselves if we all should not be damned to hell for eternity for the world we are giving to CubsSuck and his generation.

There are so many ways that I disagree with you Mre Zero on every ground possible - every ground possible - other than the fact that there are a lot of pictures floating around that we are not allowed to see by our own government that things have been done that I could take your post and change a few words and end with a Nuke the USA conclusion... please do not invoke the Name of my God with those sentiments and not expect that in the most vehement way you will be disagreed with, which I do what God will put an end to... what God opposes...
