Where do you draw the line between "effortless" and "indifferent" or downright "lazy", though? There has to be a reason why he basically sucked while playing in SD. Agreed, it was a great trade precisely because DJ wasn't a guranteed commodity and we were giving up the AA All-Star Home-run Derby champ in Alex Fernandez...it worked in our favor to say the least. Could prove to be the trade of the year if Sox make playoffs and DJ mellows out in the clubhouse. The only thing I wished Kenny would do differently is get Adam Piatt for Ray Durham. That kid is underachiver to say the least, but if Kenny pressed, A's might have given in. Afterall they traded away Carlos Pena, Jesus Colome, Corey Lidle, etc. When was Colome still with Oakland, and who was he traded for to the D-Rays.

Agreed, he'll probably get into a decent stretch very soon. Working the pitcher for 13 pitches in only 2 at bats is a positive(so far). Especially when the pitcher in this case Rodriguez, is doing so well. But to stay in the starting lineup he'll have to start hitting or we could be seeing Daubach more and more often.

Again...why not bring in White? It is the second game of the year, and you gotta get him in at some time. And last year....once he got out of Colorado(thin air), he threw up a .82 ERA with St. Louis in the playoffs. Fast forward to this year....he is terrible in Arizona(thin air).....when he escaped that s*** and went to KC....where the air is not thin....he will pitch better. Given....he didn't exactly make a good pitch to Randa....but you can't expect that to happen. I thought Rick White was supposed to be the long reliever. That sure wasn't a long reliever spot.

I agree we shouldn't have brought in White, but do we bring in Marte in the 7th inning to face a bunch of righties? I think we should have brought in Glover.
