  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Ha, ha, ha.. they tried to get on the scorecard but we got it.. Who's "we" Steff??
  2. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Probably your "on the march" title clouded my thinking there (That's a Bush line, ya know.) That and I've read a half dozen pieces regarding the same thing in the last few days. I'm excited about the prospect of a more stable and democratic Lebanon. Maybe then Beirut will once again become the "Paris of the Mid-East." The only thing that clouds your thinking is your utter disdain for anything that may shine a postive light on this administration. This article doesn't mention Walib Jumblatt...but you bring him up just to state that a conservative columnist used his quotes. You dont mention them cause they don't fit your right bashing. So you mention a quote given by Jumblatt to the Al-Sharq Al-Awsat on February 12, 2004, not two months ago. So basically your whole reason for even posting this garbage is to say that a conservative used a quote from a guy who hates America. Thanks for your insight. What it was that Walib said just a few weeks ago as opposed to last year was this "It's strange for me to say it, but this process of change has started because of the American invasion of Iraq," explains Jumblatt. "I was cynical about Iraq. But when I saw the Iraqi people voting three weeks ago, 8 million of them, it was the start of a new Arab world." Jumblatt says this spark of democratic revolt is spreading. "The Syrian people, the Egyptian people, all say that something is changing. The Berlin Wall has fallen. We can see it." The point here isn't that a conservative columnist used this quote from Jumblatt even though Jumblatt has been very anti american in the past. It is that a man as radical and anti american as Jumblatt now sees some good in what is happening in the arab world and attributes that good to America. Clouded thoughts from a title??? I don't think so. You're not excited about peace or stabilization in the mideast. You'd only be for peace if Bush didn't get any credit for the process. If he was going to get some credit...you'd just assume they continue on as is. Clouded thoughts.....yeah I'd say so.
  3. Jose Padilla can kiss my ass...there's enough info out there for me to know that. They can hold him forever for all I care. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0601042padilla1.html
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) I finally got done reading this gem of a thread. I have one question, and people don't have to answer it. But was anyone who replied in this thread anything other than a teenage to 20's white male? (besides Soxy and Noam of course ) I am 31 and a lyrical genius. Khaos OUT!!! wait...was that too white??

    Cliches

Here's some clichés with answers: "It's raining cats and dogs." Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the dogs, cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence, the saying "It's raining cats and dogs." "dirt poor" The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying "dirt poor." "saved by the bell" England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a "bone-house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the "graveyard shift") to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be "saved by the bell" or was considered a "dead ringer."

  8. QUOTE(shagar69 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) for u guys who think that you can write lyrics better than 50 cent or for that matter any body with a record deal, LOL, r u f***in joking? 50 is very talented lyrically. but of course u can criticize him. Nothin wrong with that. And yes, I like him, but I will admit that all this s*** hes doin about dissin everybody in rap and proclaiming that he got shot 9 times is ridiculous. But look at it from his point of view: wouldnt you keep doin the s*** that he's doin if your debut album sold 11 million copies and made u filthy rich? yo did you check out my oratorical fireworks....I was off the hizzy fo shizzy...

  10. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) So, do they have talent or not? Which is it? Agreed that they market violence to inner-city youths and that isn't a good thing. But to say that someone like 50 Cent or Eminem isn't talented is just plain wrong. Eminem has mad skills... oh yeah and by the way I now wish to be refered to as "Khaos" or maybe "K-oz" hyphens are good....what you guys think? the name is the hardest part....
  11. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) 50 Cent is an idiot who is only alive because somebody else was an incompetent idiot & missed the mark when he tried shooting him. Getting shot a bunch of times is not "cred", it's being a f***ing idiot to put yourself into a position where you would get shot. He's not a lyrical genius. I'm sure an 8 year old with Downs could write the lyrics for an entire 50 Cent album. At least 2Pac put time into lyrics and had some significant songs with good lyrics that have insight. As for why the Game is getting kicked out -- 50 told Flex he was disappointed with comments Game made on the station Saturday night, when Game revealed he would not be getting involved in the beefs 50 is stirring up with "Piggy Bank" (see "50 Cent's LP Pushed Up, Harsh 'Facts' Sound Like Disses On Leaked 'Piggy Bank'" on MTV.com). According to Flex, Game even said he was going to do a song with Nas. "He's gone," 50 scoffed. "He might as well make the record." 50 also said Game should stop saying "G-Unit." "He thinks he's doing me a favor when he says that." Word Up! The names are f***in hilarious to me...50, 50 Cent, 2Pac, Flex, Nas, Game, G-Unit, Piggy Bank Clearly without a good name you're going no where
  12. One of the attorneys here writes for a small sports magazine and they sent him that. He knows I'm a big sox fan so he asked if I wanted to make a copy. I said yeah...bada bing bada bang bada boom...there ya go!!

  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) Agree. Would go so far as to say it's the Understatement of the Year. A Punchinellos story ... One time I walk in there by myself before a Sox game, it's before the gates at the park opened up, maybe about 5 pm. I'm thirsty so I walk in. Here's 6-7 guys with suits and ties and dark glasses, all yukking it up and having a few beers, two extremely attractive blonde women cavorting amongst the guys, and two well dressed bartenders behind the bar. The place almost stops dead when I walk in, I happen to be wearing a blue dress shirt and dress slacks. I immediately know I do not belong, and start to walk out, just as one of the guys yells out, "We're Closed!" It was just like that old Sesame Street song ... "one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong." Well it didn't seem that bad to me since I am welcome there
  16. Not sure if you're interested...but attached is the prospectus passed out to the media.
  17. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) what about ponchonellos???? is it still there... ??? I actually danced there.. and "picked up" !!!!! I would not go to punchenello's unless you are from Bridgeport or know someone from Bridgeport and I would advise you DEFINTELY NOT try to pick up chicks there. The place is very cliquey... JMO... I would stick with Jimbos, Shallers, or shinnicks. You also park for free at Shallers...
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) Do people really make decisions on liking him based on PC's...? JMO, but if nothing else when he speaks it's obvious that he's not the sharpest tool in the shed and I pay no attention. Well I usually make my decisions by what comes out of the horses mouth. The only time I really hear him talk is PC's. Race has nothing to do with passing Ruth and him wanting to beat him cause he was white is messed up IMO. When he says I say bulls*** to that....Im sorry...if anything he had it easier than most ball players...black, white, brown whatever.... I never had a problem with Barry being selfish...distancing himself from teammates, not talking to the media or whatever. Every player has their own way of getting mentally ready. I admired his ability to swing the bat and I have read some great articles on how he studies pitchers and approaches the game and I was extremely impressed. However, I will not excuse the race card and I will not excuse steroids. Those are a couple of reasons I base my decision on whether I like a player or not....if he happend to mention those things in his PC then that's all I have to go on....
  19. From Bonds press conference, courtesy of Mariotti article.. He just gives more and more reasons to not like him.
  20. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) thumbnail, click to make bigger: this would be an awesome pic for the top of the page
  21. For what it's worth she looks better as brunette....
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Holy crap CC.. I just about spit my water all over the place when I read this. Being Italian, and having 3rd and 4th cousins of my mom's who've been in the "big house cooking gravy in a back room", seen pictures of "Big Al" playing cards in my Great Grandmother's basement, and learned how to play poker on illegal poker machines that my grandparents "ran" in the mid 40's.. I get such a kick out of this stereotype that I can't do anything other than laugh when I read stuff like that. Not to mention.. I had an "Uncle Vito" also.. Both Uncle Vito's, Both call sauce gravy...I'm convinced we're related. or at least we played together at armor square... Maybe you even came in Jimbos as a little s*** when my pops owned it. It was called M&M tap back then. My grandpa owned the building and we lived in one apartment, my aunt in the other and my grandparents in the other.
  23. I will post what my "joke" or lack there of, was going to be just for the sake of explaining. When winodj posted the pic of his car last week...some were bashing it and some weren't. I was simply gonna post. "That car is gay" Just because I thought it could be taken both ways 1) was the way we weren't suppose to use "gay" 2) winodj is the resident gay poster so in a round about way it was fitting. I mean what could be considered a gay car if not a car with a gay driver. I figured he would find it funny, and be like... hell yeah it is...thank you!! I mean it isn't even that funny, but it was just something that came to mind and I just started replying without thinking...., but then it hit me...I had to think. I realized that the joke while it may get a or a it wasn't worth possibly offending anyone. Honestly, I dont think it would have offended anyone...but some skin is thickier than others. It wasn't really a derogatory statement...but I guess better to be safe than sorry...I mean think about what was missed by me not posting what I wanted to....nothing...I'll live... but next time I read Dago, Wop or All you Italians are in the mob...you'll be getting a visit from my Uncle Vito!!
