Couple two tree tings I'd like to bitch about

I don't even use an umbrella. The wind is usually blowing anyway and you're legs still get soaked. SO I figure why not just make it a uniform wetness.... -

Please don't ever compare to him. I was going for more of a Seinfeld rant. So what's the deal with Golf Umbrellas...I mean if ya don't golf...Can you buy one?? etc.... -
Bush, but Kerry will win Illinois any way.

Oh I want to be right in the middle of the maddness. Last year I had silver and black beads on with cork from bottles of wine attached to them all...

I don't wear business attire either...If I had to wear a suit to work every day I'd quit. Either way....there wouldn't be a backpack on my back... -
I'll be at that game with 5 other friends. All of us are sox fans. We have bleacher seats and I was wondering if anyone else has bleacher tix as well....Then we can get a big section together if we all arrive at the same time. We plan on getting there early. Last year we were there by 9:00 and got first row seats right in straight away center next to the bushes. It'd be nice to be surrounded by a wall on one side and some sox fans on the other....

As long as you don't where it with a suit....It can be anything ya want -
Steff I'll be needing a two for that Friday game at the cell...ya think Jimbo's is the best place to go? Maybe I'll have some clout since my dad used to own the place and I lived in the building. We'll you be there before the game?

First let me say that all this s*** is compounded by the fact that I'm hung over, sweating my ass off...from walking here in this f***in rain forest humidity, stepped in a puddle and the sox got rained out last night!! OK let's get to the topics at hand.... #1) Golf Umbrellas....It's right in the name people...GOLF. They are not for walking on the busy downtown sidewalks of Chicago. I mean some of these things have the circumference to cover a Volkswagen. Just what are you trying to prove....Bigger is not better when you are slowing down the transports of society. Perhaps you got someone fired because they were late due to the holdup of your colossal canopy!!!! Oh and even worse is when a little old lady has one of those monstrosities. She can't hold it up any higher when she walks past you, so it is right at eye level.....It's like dodgin chinese stars. You have to take your umbrella from over your head and use it as a shield or risk losing an eye. Take heed grandma...leave the umbrella in grandpa's golf bag and get yourself a babushka. #2) Luggage Carts....Ok I missed the memo...since when did wheeling your briefcase around become all the rage. I can see if you have luggage or tools, but nowadays people wheel around anything. Briefcases, backpacks, purses...How about we make a rule....if your bag or whatever can fit inside that little box outside the gates at the cell, then get it off the f***in wheel cart and carry the dam thing!!! #3) Backpacks.....If you are not under the age of 25, a student, hiking up a mountain or a world traveler...then it's time to ditch the Jansport buddy. Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look walking around in a nice suit with a backpack strapped on?? Get a briefcase or something...but whatever it is please don't wheel it around.... Ok that's enough for now

She looks pretty young...I'll tell ya that. Then again 18yr old girls look super young to me now. Maybe it's a sign that I'm officially old.

Always the devils advocate Tex.

Dude that's what toasting is....I've had mine get stuck in there once for only a few seconds longer and it burnt the bread....so you can't get much more toasting without burning.

I would much rather have Worrell, but I don't think Philly would part with him...

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-i...ov=ap&type=lgns Woman seriously injured by foul ball at Fenway Park cannot sue Red Sox, appeals court rules June 10, 2004 BOSTON (AP) -- A woman who was seriously injured by a foul ball at Fenway Park has no grounds to sue because she assumed a risk by attending the baseball game, a state appeals court ruled. The Red Sox ``had no duty to warn the plaintiff of the obvious danger of a foul ball being hit into the stands,'' the court said Wednesday in blocking Jane Costa's personal injury lawsuit from going to trial. The three-member panel said that even someone with scant knowledge of baseball should realize that ``a central feature of the game is that batters will forcefully hit balls that may go astray from their intended direction.'' Costa, who was injured in 1998, sued the team for $486,909 in lost wages and medical expenses. She had been sitting about 20 rows behind the Red Sox dugout when Boston's Darren Lewis hit the foul ball. Costa had to undergo reconstructive surgery that installed eight plates in her face, said her lawyer, James R. Burke. According to court documents filed by Burke, an expert calculated that the ball was traveling about 90 mph when it struck Costa about 141 feet from home plate. ``I'm more than angry. I was in critical condition,'' Costa told The Boston Globe. She said Red Sox management and players are ``bickering over millions and millions of dollars to hit a ball, and when one of their fans get hurt, they don't care.'' According to Red Sox officials, three to four dozen patrons each season are injured by foul balls. Ridiculous lawsuit. It was an unfotunate accident...nothing more.

All the work I went through with that Sox Cubs analogy and you didn't even acknolwledge it. I don't believe we will EVER have a governement run news. It wouldn't be allowed to happen by either party. We will always have our own news. It is what this country was founded on. I am just asking for it to be equal. I'm glad I heard what Clarke had to say in his book, but there is NO reason I should have to switch the channel to get what Clarke said two years prior. That was a pretty big story IMO and totally contradicted what he said in his book. That guy was the lead story on every newscast for at least a week....and never did the big three mention his comments. It got to be a game for me where I went home every night and flipped through CBS, NBC, ABC news at 5:30 to see if they would say it and they didn't. Fox broke the story and besides the radio(I'm assuming they had it...I don't really listen) and alternative media, it wasn't played anywhere else. I want both sides...that's all I'm asking.
-
What you are asking for is a bit unrealistic...you want the GOP to complain about the the very minute percentage of news sources that slant thigns their way, before complaing about the oppostions. Let's put it in the perspective of Cubs and Sox coverage. If both organizatoins were suppose to be covered equally, but it was very clear the Cubs were covered more favorably in say 85% of the Media Market and the Sox were covered more favorably in 15%....Would you expect the Sox to complain about their 15% of favorability bias in the media or the Cubs 85% of favorability?? We would complain about the Cubs... If there were 14 broadcasters in Chicago sports 2,5,7,9,32 and 12 of them were cubs fans and 2 were sox fans...and reprted the news as such....then I wouldn't say Im sick of this bias in the media with those two sox fan reporters....

We had this convo on here many times....Here was one thing that really made it stand out to me. There was an onlsaught about what Clarke said in his book, but I still have yet to see any of those networks ever report on what Clarke said back in 2002. WHY?? This was from am old post... I still want to know why, ABC, CBS, NBC or any of the papers I have seen, havent' said anything about Clarkes comments back in 2002. Am I the only one who gets a little pissed off on this?? Whether you are on the left or right don't you feel you are getting half the story most of the time?? I mean seriously, I can not BELIEVE that the only place this information is on is FOX NEWS. This is an important story....I mean here is a bitter man absolutly tearing into Bush, yet he had praised him in August of 2002 for stopping Clintons roll backs on terrrorism and increasing the pressure 5 fold. Isn't this important?? If the major networks don't even want to do a whole story at least publish the f***in transcripts!!!! I can read the Clarke ripping on bush transcripts in the Lava Hot Springs Idaho Post, but I can't find the transcripts of him PRAISING the administration on any major news network??? The news is suppose to be NEUTRAL...at least give us both f***in sides. http://www.soxtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=16439&hl=clarke

Yeah that quote is legit YASNY. I saw Ozzie say it on tv. I can't find it printed anywhere, but I saw it. He went on to say something like there's a lot of options, we'll go by situation.... and it didn't come off as bad as it reads. By the way...as disappointed as I am with Koch...I do love what he is coming out of his mouth...He seems very undelfish and to be genuinely behind the team. Here's some of his quotes... "It's not my call," Koch added. "I think everybody in that bullpen is able to become a closer. We actually are closers. You're closing out whether it's the sixth, seventh, eighth or ninth. I think everybody has to go and get the job done." "That's Ozzie's call and if he wants to [make a change], that's fine with me. I just like to be here.'' ''Maybe I ruined their [fans'] kid's first baseball game, and he's a diehard Chicago White Sox fan,'' Koch said. ''Maybe I ruined that for them, the first Chicago White Sox game they went to, they lost. 'Yeah, Billy Koch gave it up in the ninth,' you know. So I feel like I do have an obligation to apologize. "You have to at least relate to the fans, I think. You can get your point across to the fans. Yeah, they're going to boo you. They're going to be upset if you blow the game but they have the right to be." "I think it's an obligation," Koch said of talking to the media. "I go out and not perform and give it up, and I think it's your obligation to talk to the media to explain a pitch or to explain how you're feeling or whatever the case may be.

I saw it! Awesome.....Does anyone know who ChiTownPackFan is? He posted a good post on that cubbie site and he also said he knew the guy that made that Cubs vs Sox cartoon thing a while back. We need that guy to do one for the sox. I remember we had a post full of ideas here a while back.

Yeah and it sucks cause I really wanted Koch to be the man this year. I thought he could come back and be the closer he once was, if we just gave him the chance and showed confidence in him, but when you have Jolbert Cabrerra confident that he can pressure our 6.3 million dollar closer into walking in the winning run...then I think the optimism is out the window. I mean I'm glad he is pissed off and all, but you only get that "hey, give him another chance, he's a stand up guy" thing so many times.

Quote from the Times: Even Sox opponents stand at the plate knowing Koch probably isn't up for the task. After the Seattle Mariners scored two runs off Koch in the ninth inning Sunday to tie the game 4-4, Jolbert Cabrera, who had one walk all season, was feeling pretty good about his chances with the bases loaded. ''I crowded the plate, and I was going to take the next two pitches,'' Cabrera said after he worked a 3-1 count off Koch. ''He was going to hit me, he was going to walk me or I was going to strike out looking. He was probably more nervous than I was. I didn't think he could throw two strikes right there.''
