Controlled Chaos replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My point exactly...They didn't even discuss the pitching matchups.....or maybe how the last time we had a 4 game series against the yanks we swept them!!!!!!!!! Let's go SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Practically the whole dam article is Yankees. :fyou Chi White Sox (1-1) at NY Yankees (2-2) Preview - Box Score - Recap Javier Vazquez didn't mind one bit when manager Joe Torre decided to pitch Mike Mussina and Kevin Brown twice before letting him make his first start as a Yankee. After all, how many 27-year-old right-handers have made their New York debuts on opening day at Yankee Stadium? ``I don't think I'll be able to imagine what it's like until I'm there,'' Vazquez said of getting the nod for the home opener against the Chicago White Sox. ``It's going to be awesome. It's a big deal in New York.'' Torre used Mussina and Brown to open the season in Japan last week, then called on the two again at Tampa Bay on Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving Vazquez with the golden opportunity to start the defending American League champions' first home game of the year. Vazquez, acquired in the deal that sent Nick Johnson and Juan Rivera to Montreal, stayed in Tampa while the Yankees traveled to Tokyo. He made his last two starts in minor league games, including a six-inning, two-run effort against Philadephia on Friday. ``I'm thrilled,'' said Vazquez, the ace of Montreal's rotation last year with 13 wins and a 3.24 ERA. ``I know that every game (in New York) is big.'' The only other time Vazquez pitched at Yankee Stadium, David Cone tossed a perfect game against the Expos on July 18, 1999. Vazquez is doubtlessly hoping to be the one grabbing headlines this time around. ``The home opener is huge,'' he said. ``I'm happy to have this opportunity.'' After the Devil Rays bombed Mussina for a second straight start Tuesday, Brown again bailed the Yankees out, pitching seven strong innings in a 3-2 victory Wednesday. Alex Rodriguez delivered a game-tying RBI single and converted a 5-5-3 double play to help Mariano Rivera escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth, sealing the win. ``That was too close for comfort,'' said Rodriguez, who switched form shortstop to third base after being traded from Texas to New York. ``Everything is new. It's fun, but stressful at times. ... The game on the line with Mariano. I've never practiced that in my life.'' The White Sox bounced back nicely from an opening day disaster in Kansas City, beating the Royals 4-3 on Wednesday. Chicago, which surrendered six runs in the bottom of the ninth in Monday's gut-wrenching 9-7 loss, used homers from Miguel Olivo, Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Lee and some much-needed solid relief to hold off the Royals. The victory was Ozzie Guillen's first as a big league manager, also making him the first Venezuelan-born skipper to earn a victory in the majors. ``We have a lot of political problems in our country, like in a lot of countries,'' Guillen said. ``To help my country, to give something real positive to my country is something I feel good about. I feel proud. I'm pretty sure my country feels real proud right now.'' link to article: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=240408110

We need those bats to stay hot!!! Can anyone tell me why Schoeneweis is getting the start ahead of Garland? Was there a reason given for it? what gives?

Ok I didn't see the game...I was stuck working and just listened to it. However, after reading the papers, it seems like Konerko was really swiping that base. He talked about how the steal made sense with Rownad up and 2 outs, cause if he was nailed, Rowand leads off the next inning and he has speed. He also mentioned that they weren't paying attention to him(did they ever?) I was under the impression it was a hit and run without the hit. Anyone else have any info or if you watched the game...did they say it was a hit and run?? Has Ozzie spoke of it? I can't believe they actually called for KNoerko to steal a base...
-
Whew, I'm glad I'm not alone. I was gettin worried there. I think Koch can get to 30-35 saves if we stick with him and let him know he is the man.
-
Dude you're killing me....I think we need Koch.... When you say he's done it makes me think the season is done....and I'mnot ready to do that just yet... He will overcome...the talent is still there and the desire is still there... How would you like your crow served?
-
Yeah I think E-Lo will get the job done....and he will get the run support to let him pitch relaxed in his first start....gettin all the kinks out
-
If he is the man....then let's start over. Ozzie needs to tell him...the ball is yours when the game is on the line and that's that. All the pressure falls squarely on your shoulders. I think Koch needs to know he is the man....he can't have the concern of being yanked out of the game floating thru his head when he pitches. That's what happened last year and he definitely did not improve, as we all know. I don't blame Ozzie for the loss at all. Marte needed to get the job done, but I would like Ozzie to lay it on the line now. Tell Koch we are sticking with him now no matter what. Tell him he controls his own destiny. If Koch doesn't work out and he blows up....then fine...experiment over...he's done...but let's give him at least 10 good quality save chances where he doesn't have to worry about coming out. If it doesn't work then let him know...we are goin closer by committee. 10 games ain't gonna break us, but what it could do, is make us... If Koch can get his confidence back where he knows he is the s*** and nobody is gonna stop him then we will be all right. If he stays like this...too many things float in his head. Come on Billy!!!!

We are going against Darrell May.... 1-2, 6.75 in 2003 vs. CHI 3-3, 5.96 lifetime vs. CHI Let's smack that ball around.... Score prediction Sox 13 KC 4

Ok I left work real happy yesterday....Everything looked so optimistic...Konerko hitting the ball...Sandy hitting the ball...Buehrle pitched pretty good...I loved the aggresiveness on the basepaths...I loved the 3 double plays we turned. My only disappointment at that stage was Crede's 0-4 cause I expect a big year from him...but I was willing to overlook it.....It's opening day and the sox were winning 7-3 going in to the bottom of the ninth...All was well so I left for the day. Imagine my shock and awe when I got home and turned on the news just to hear them talk about the cubs win and then say "let's toss it to KC where the news for the sox isn't so good" I was like what the f*** could they be talking about.....I thought somebody got hurt. Man talk about a buzz kill.... I'm trying to look at all the good things that happened yesterday and forget about the few bad things, but man they stick out like a playboy bunny working in an ice cream shop. In all fairness...I dont really blame ozzie for this...Marte has to get those outs....you should be able to count on him to do that. Maybe Ozzie was a little nervous being in his first game...and Koch...didn't help those nerves by giving up a double...so he made the switch...was it right? I don't know....but I know if I was watching it I would've felt confident with Marte coming in too. If Marte K'd the next 2 batters we wouldn't be having this conversation. I think the decision could have went either way...but neither should have resulted in this outcome. This loss isn't on Ozzie's shoulders. Let's keep up those good things we did yesterday and eliminate the mistakes!

I remember screaming...MILTON BRADLEY YOU SUCK. GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL...DO NOT PASS GO DO NOT COLLECT $200.00!!!!!! and I do recall him f***in up an easy pop up that game that resulted in a triple. I'm not sure if this is the same instance SS2K is referring too. I'll stick with Rowand. I just want so bad for this kid to get a legitimate shot. He impresses every time he is given a chance ...except beginning of last year and I beleive he was still injured at that time.
