QUOTE (hogan873 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) I had the sound turned down right before the game started when they were showing some of the players wearing the Sox hockey jerseys. Does anyone know if those jerseys are available anywhere, or were those just for whatever they were doing with the Blackhawks? If they can make some money on em....they'll be for sale.

Well I haven't been on here much lately, but just wanted to say....Love the Palin pick. Loved the Palin speech. Love seeing and hearing the fear in every Obama groupie I come across. I thought McCain gave the speech of his life. It didn't come off as political bulls***....it was genuine and touched a lot of people. There aren't too many speeches I have ever said that about. If you're a democrat I know you think it sucked and was a bunch of $#&^%....this post isn't directed at you.

Can Palin be a mother and a vice president? The left would normally scoff at such a question. This was part of the feminist fight...the liberal fight for women. (Those on the right just wanted them home, pregnant, and in the kitchen.) The opportunity for both a career and a family and not having to chose between the two. That was the goal. So liberals are all for the advancement of women, but only one that fits their mold.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) So I have an observation on Quentin....all these HBP are causing him to bail a little at home plate. He's been struggling the past few games with that low and away pitch. I don't know man...hasn't Q been getting hit like since birth. I bet the doctor dropped him on his left tricep with his first breath....Q shook it off and crawled over to the scale. -
Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) Yeah but trading Swisher at his lowest value for a setup guy then replacing Swish with a 38 year old corner OF makes even less sense. Swish has been as advertised with everything except for his hitting. It's a slump...Kenny got exactly the kind of player he wanted...he just hoped he was more productive his first year. No way he gives up on him so fast. -

Who needs a DH right now? Can this be part of a 3 team deal where we just flip Griff to somewhere else? -

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:58 AM) The Sox are paying about $2 million (assuming they take the buyout) for Hall's 76 AB's of .289/.341/.368/.710 soft stick and 192 innings of catching allowing 25 SB with 5 CS. Why are they so afraid to play him? Couldn't AJ use a little more rest down the stretch? Before anyone points to me of Hall's .406/.457/.531/.988 line against LHP, consider that it's only 35 PA's and he was helped by a 3 single game against Barry Zito. I'd like to see a name that has been mentioned as being available in Miguel Olivo. His line is .255/.285/.465/.751 and against LHP it's .283/.338/.617/.955 and that's in 65 PA's. Almost double Hall's PA's against LHP and a good percentage of Tubby's entire PA's this season. In 282 innings caught, he has 10 SB's against and 9 CS. Hall career against LHP: .282/.326/.405/.730 in 693 PA's Olivo career against LHP: .291/.322/.534/.856 in 562 PA's I think the defensive upgrade and the fact he puts up a better line in more PA's shows he can give AJ more rest during the stretch run would be worth making the move. Send Hall back to the sunshine state. Marlins could use some "veteran leadership" (although Hall has mostly always played on loser teams.) I would not remove Hall from this team right now. He knows his role, he plays it well. To me it's not just as simple as looking at some numbers and changing out some parts. There's definitely some 'glue' Hall provides in keeping this team together. As much as people want to believe that means nothing, I have to respectfully disagree. I think removing him for what amounts to a minor upgrade, if that, would be a bad move. I mean the only negative you have on Hall is he has less PA's...and it's only a negative because you're assuming if he had another 30, his line wouldn't stay as is. -
If MB continues his consistency and he plays out his contract, his spot on the concourse is waiting.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) I remember it as Nick & Vito's, too. It was accross the parking lot from Groucho's. I don't know if I ever ate it, though. We always got Angie's (which was about a block down on the other side of the street. Yeah we went to both. Used to have our baseball pizza parties there. It's weird if you google nick and vito's there's a couple sites that call it that. If you look at the main website though they have a sign that says vito and nicks from like 1930 or something.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) Not a big Vito and Nick's fan and never had Phil's Obbie's could be the best deep dish pizza I am startign t olike Begger's more. Waldo Cooney's is ok and Hoem Run Inn frozen is as good as the restaurant. Yeah if you don't have a HRI around you, the frozen is pretty damn close. HRI is tops for me!!! Best sausage I've ever had on a za.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) :headbang sooo good. I'm craving it right now, sausage and mushroom. They just did two days of taping this month at Vito and Nicks for an upcoming episode of Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" show. They spotlighted White Palace a few months back, another Chicago food joint I mis dearly. I have no idea why, but I remember it as Nick and Vito's. I grew up at 79th and Pulaski and went there all the time. Have I lost my mind??

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) This is true, I think he had a OBP of 1 pont better. Slugging was up a little bit with Dye too. But there's a lot more to a player than just the offensive averages line. Dye was just edging him out in those areas too. Dye would have been a good AS player too though. Both were very close. The fact that they were so close, with Dye actually being a little better, and you chose Longoria is why you were called out.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) It doesn't matter. You still see your guy running and want to protect him. But I like Ozzie's take. Don't stew about it, just say something, get it out of the way, yell, kick, scream, make-up...done. What happened to the OC that was the "team leader" for the Angels? Is he pissed he was traded? Weird. It's one thing to have disagreements and say something like JD did. OC could have said something back or let it go and be done with it. But what he did spreading his arms out like he wanted to throw down and s***....is what I think is BS. Unless he was really being like...lets hug it out b****es. Honestly, I think JD was just frustrated and probably wouldn't have said something otherwise...and I'll bet he admits such to OC and this is over with as of today.

Ben. Highest ranking was 43 in 1889 and hasn't been back in double digits since 1911. currently sitting at 610. I'm happy with my name...There aren't too many of us roaming around. -
It is FAVORITE Sox player....So I bet Frank will be #1 on only about 1/2 the lists.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 08:06 AM) I agree with YASNY up to the point of the full scale recognition part. Veterans should be commended for making these types of sacrifices and sincere shows of thanks to the individuals by buying drinks or greeting them at the airport is more likely than not a genuine show of appreciation. I also love that the Sox give veterans a break on admission. I just do not think the camo uniforms, especially on 7/4, are appropriate. It just seems overblown to me. Man, I have started and stopped a post multiple times since seeing this thread yesterday...your comment really rubs me the wrong way. I'll just say this...there is no such thing as overblown when honoring the men and women of the armed services.
