  1. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) thanks ozzie, you frickin tool Ozzie and Hawk were both in the Crapper that inning.
  2. Good thing we've been playing for one run. :rolly
  3. 1 run lead. Always a good idea to peg the leadoff man. HR on the next pitch. Game.Over.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) With this bottom of the order, it's probably the right decision. I know it seemed like the bnttom of the order, but our #1,2,&3 hitters made the outs in that inning.
  5. Good thing we're playing for one run in this stadium.
  6. 1) Chris Young got screwed. 2) I didn't notice, but Rogo has slumped at the end of the year. He was over .300 for the entire year.
  7. I have to admit, the Soriano and Tiex strikeout numbers are damning. Delluci and Mench have seemed to foul off an inordinate number of pitches down there too.
  8. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) What a baffon. Yeah Hank Blaylock is over rated, Yeah the Best Defensive 3rd baseman in the game is overrated Scott Rolen, Eric Chavez, and an overemphasis on errors say high.
  9. First of all, this topic is hilarious because of who started it. 6 hours ago, BMac was a washed up loser, now you want him in the rotation? Second, if it was up to me, I would have McCarthy piggy back El Duque/count. They pitch on back to back games, and are prone to short outings. This keeps Brandon on a semi-regular schedule, and can help lighten the load on an arm that we want to protect down the stretch in Duque. If one of them is struggling, Ozzie should be ready with a quick hook to keep us in the game. This could win us a couple extra games down the stretch. (It's pretty obvious when either of those two guys just doesn't have it.) Just pull 'em early and hopefully BMac can eat some innings to give the offense time to get back in it. You're not really taxing the bullpen, cuz Bmac is just like a 6th starter, and Baj will be back up in a few days anyway.
  10. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) I'm not really worried about an improbable Indians comeback. The best the tribe can really go is 21-9 down the stretch and even with today's loss the Sox just have to go 15-18 to tie. Well we're putting that to the test with our 11-15 August. We might not be able to go 15-18.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Let's just ignore the fact that he has been hurt and doesn't have much support around him. :rolly Don't you think Podsednik would score more runs if he was in Boston's lineup? Well, you could put Tadahito Iguchi at #2 on the list then. Especially around here. Those two have been nothing more than average at the top of the order, yet you're not allowed to say a bad word about either one of them around here.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) Ok so Indians win-I never post again Indians don't win-You never post again P.O.T.D Post Of The Day
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Why is it, Buerhle and Garland, supposedly our #1 and #2 pitchers, and supposedly Cy Young candidates, can't ever pitch over an error? In Garland's defense, Today he allowed as many unearned runs as he had all year long. Buehrle? Well not so much. The real answer, and I know this won't get read because the Gamethread is all about neanderthalic rage venting, is that they don't strike enough guys out. You're talking about two pitchers with high groundball rates, who depend more on their defense to record outs for them than a strikeout pitcher. Strikeout pitchers are better equiped to give up less unearned runs, because 1) theres not as many balls in play and 2) they have the ability to pitch over the error themselves, without having to rely on the defense for another out. Simillarly, flyball pitchers have a low unearned run rate. But they tend to give up lots of HRs.
  14. QUOTE(whitesox247 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Wow. Just wow. What a f***ing idiot. I could have lived with him bagggin on Pod's OBP, but homers? Since when did leadoff guys have to hit homers. Rickey Henderson?
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) What's the over/under on the inning Hawk proclaims him one of the best young pitchers he's seen come up in some time? Baseball America didn't have him in the top 10 prospects for Texas before the season. However.... He supposedly has developed better stuff than the top 2 guys. You'll also notice that their #5 prostpect has done very well for himself this year at the ML level, and that #7 beat us yesterday.
  16. QUOTE(WhiteSoxLova6 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) what more can you ask for? A lead off hitter who's higher than 83rd in baseball in runs scored?
  17. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Francouer is going to do just fine. Crede OTOH isn't. You missed the point completely.
  18. QUOTE(alexgtp @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) FOCKER...TEXIERA WITH A 2 RUN BLAST.. I would hardly call that a blast. He was way out in front of a change up. Stopped. threw his bat at it, got it off the end of the bat. and it went out to the shortest part of the park.
  19. QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Crede showed some promise when he first came up, too. what happened there? Miniscule walk rate. Pitchers discovered that he would swing at anything. Gave him nothing to hit. -- Francouer they're coming for you next.
