QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) 54 ABs isn't WAAAAAYYYY too much playing time. but he does suck the balls. That means he's on pace to get 200 more AB's this season than he should.

GAME THREAD 5-27-2005 SOX VS RANGERS

QUOTE(JimH @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) He threw a few changes but not enough. Blalock stayed back on one change he threw and poked it into RF for a hit. But yeah, I agree completely, he cannot leave pitches up like he did. Teams like Texas and Cleveland will kick the s*** out of him. To me this start reminded me of Diaz V. Baltimore last year. Felix got through the first few innings unscathed, but then came apart in the 5th i think. It might have been cleveland now that I think about it. But, in the first inning you could see that he was always up the the zone. He was going to get punished, and eventally did. Konerko HR... We only need 5 more of those to tie. -

QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) With the exception of the home runs, he didn't pitch that badly. He got behind the count a little more than expected, but at least he was around the plate. Yes he did. The first three pitches I saw from him, I said he's got to get the ball down or he's goingto get lit up. He was way up in the zone for 2 innings. He did bring it down, but he didn't trust his stuff. He refuses to throw a Change. THat makes him a 2 pitch pitcher, and you've got a line up full of guys who eat 92 MPH fastballs for lunch. If he's not getting every curveball he throws called for a strike, he's going to get hit hard. -

QUOTE(JimH @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) This is a good spot to bring in Vizcaino, let him go two innings and see if he can start to work things out. Over/Under on hanging slider HRs allowed? -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) 4 homers? That is tee-ball. There were no HRs in Tee-ball... They don't even keep score. -

Can somebody point me to the thread we had on this for Jeter's injury? It was the same thing. Big 'ole swelled up elbow. Jeter played the next day. -
Jenks has struck out 10 in his last 3 games -- 3.2 IP, 10 K.

I wonder if Cubs message boards had 4 threads about El Duque going on the DL? It's the Cubs. Who the f*** cares. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Did anyone think that they were going to hit sub 200 for a month at the same time. Pitchers in the NL can hit that. Yes. See July. 2004.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Same swing. The only difference is this year they keep challenging him with fastballs. Last year they would get cute and throw a breaking pitch that would break into his hitch and he would golf the home run out. He looks like he is flipping a switch when he hits its very mechanical. What's so frustratingly obvious to anyone watching on TV is the deep knee bend that he does... If he eliminates that, or just cuts down on it, all of those infield pop ups turn into line drives and HRs. -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) I am not sold on Konerko yet. Far too many less than two outs and RISP sitiuations he has bungled for me to get excited about ten games. Coming into tonight, he was .294/.410/.529 for the last 20..... Does that make you feel better.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) We are 24th in the league with BA with men in scoring position. But you can mask having a low RISP Batting Average by having lots of chances. Unfortunately, as you'll recall the Sox were last in the AL last season in number of RISP at-bats. Where do they rank this year? 29th of 30 teams... You can be poor at one or the other and still be effective, but not poor at both.

Did Ozzie call the pitch to McPherson?
Gene Honda Civic replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah I don't like second guessing, and like Jack, I would have been mad if he pulled El Conde right there... But after Ozzie walked I said becareful this guy'll swing at anything... Don't throw him first pitch fastball (which I almost always want Conde to throw)... The blame for the loss doesn't fall on Contreras... We simply have to score more than 2 f***ing runs.. 2nd &3rd and no outs should be 1.5 runs. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 26, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) What, you don't use the word deity in your everyday conversation? It's quite fun to say. (No dictionary.) I was feeling diety the other day... So I decided to just have some subway. Me & Jared are gonna take over the world.

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ May 26, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) I'd take Vargas...and Day. Day would be very solid... He avoids the longball, and puts the ball in play on the ground. -
