QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 16, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) I look at how many times we've beaten ourselves and think we should have 32 wins. I have yet to see a team totally dominate us to where you can say, ok that team is just better or more talented. 32-6 would be the best start in baseball history by about 3 games... THERE'S A REASON FOR THAT. You have to give credit to the other teams. These are major league clubs, and nobody wins at a .900 winning percentage.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 16, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) I think blown saves is a better indicator of whether we're costing ourselves games rather than looking at it in terms of number of leads blown overall. Thusfar I think we have 4 blown saves so actually JIMB408 wasn't far off in his statement that we should have 32 wins. Closers only save about 80-85% of games... if you consider that a blown save can occur in the middle innings when a reliever is attempting to gain a "hold", the blown save % would be even lower, I'd guess 75% or less. The White Sox are 1st in the AL in Saves. 1st in the AL in Save % and 2nd in the AL in Holds. I don't know how you can argue that they should be 5 wins better because of leads given up.

ESPN 1000 just said that Sheyer was going to hold a press conference tomorrow to announce his college plans. Any ideas? Illini fans scared?

Yeah, I just wish that offense would wake up or something.

I really wish people would put their birthdays in their profiles so I could tell if some of these statements were youthful naivety or just plain stupidity.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) No you're not alone, that ball was fieldable. Why wasn't he guarding the line-I have no idea. I agree with you Willie. Derek Lee makes that play while drunk off his ass, and one hand tied behind his back.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 15, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) All in all, it was a good and fairly written article. You're nitpicking. ESPN gets less than a 1 share with some of it's primetime programming... Why? Because it's on freakin' cable. ESPN recently discovered they can air something called "Bowling Night" and get the same ratings, or better, than the NHL games that were supposed to be airing, for much cheaper to boot. I don't know why I went on the ESPN jaunt, but I just read that in an article, and well I thought I should write it here. NHL= in big trouble. Comparing a subscription service such as cable TV to a freely available service is almost universally going to yeild the same results. Add to that the difference between the Mets and the Devil Rays and you've got yourself a stacked freakin' deck.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 15, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Here's the best column-feature-story, whatever, of them all, as far as I'm concerned. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Rick Morrisey's column is also very good. Ah this was pretty shoddy... Why not check and see what it was on Thursday when the Sox were on GN, and the cubs the lowly comcast? Cuz it wouldn't have made his point that's why. I now realize there wasn't a cubs game yesterday. D'OH. the point still stands.

OK I realize that I'm bumping an old topic, but this just came across as "news" in my google alerts... Yep Rectum is still at it, only this time he's writing for a CUBS site. He's still beating the same drum. What a douchebag. http://www.cubsnet.com/node/227 -

Bristol is the rookie league affiliate for the White Sox organization. Players there are generally 4 or more years away from the majors, if they make it at all. 10 years ago Frank Thomas was the most feared hitter in baseball. He's still an elite player when healthy, but I don't know if we're ever going to see a completely healthy Frank Thomas. Last years demise was largely due to not having our two best hitters on the field at the same time after about this time last season. Nobody here is going to blame you. Our current team is playing over their heads. Nobody plays .750 baseball. But the team is well placed for a run deep into the postseason. They could easily play .600 ball the rest of the way and wind up with the best record a White Sox team has had in 20+ years.

I don't think there's anything too it. Ozzie's got to play Timo or Ozuna with Carl hurtin'. Ozuna just had a 2 week break without seeing any action.

http://cubsfun.blogspot.com/2005/05/kiss-y...os-goodbye.html Lots of good stuff at this site.. http://cubsfun.blogspot.com/ -
Why Not? Because then you show yourself for who YOU are. You're are unaccepting of a person who makes a mistake. When said person then admits the mistake you call them pitiful for admitting the mistake.. I'm done, obviously you're not going to admit that you can't have it both ways, and if you do... Well, you're pitiful :rolly.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) EXACTLY! I'm glad that I'm not the only one to get this point. He is backtracking like crazy. It's pitiful. But which is it? Is he a hack because he makes a mistake? Or is it pitiful when he backtracks? It can't be both..
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Okay, whatever. You asked for the quote and I supplied it. GMAFB. I'm not a sportswriter, Neyer is. What's his friggin' excuse? :rolly Oh yeah, his excuse was blaming it on his source for missing the Dye acquisition. Yes, he is such a great sportswriter! :headshake http://proxy.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1980522 You can continue to be all high and mighty, but as you're here long enough your opinion will be put out there for all to see just like that sportswriter. Expect to get called out when you're wrong in the future. Maybe there will even be a f*** ......... thread too. Wouldn't that be fun?
