  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 8, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) Yes, serious back problems because he was a fat, drunken slob. This is the same guy who criticized Frank for not playing hurt. And what happened to Wells that season? Yep, he got hurt and didn't play for the rest of the season. Where is David Wells right now? Yep, on the DL for the Red Sox. "Boomer" likes to run his mouth but he doesn't back it up. :headshake So what you're saying is, you'd fight through that hangnail and post on Soxtalk?

  3. Shingo's last save was anything but routine. If that's pitching well, we're in trouble when he's not on.
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 8, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) I just read the little blurb about it on the recap. What happened? It doesn't sound intentional at all... ??? for Zahn. It was intentional on Zaun's part. He didn't intend to get injured, but it was Zaun's intent to use his body to break up a double play. That his head collided with Pedro's knee was acidental, but Zaun was looking for contact on the play.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 8, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) 2-1 Cubs top of 9. Abreu on 2nd with nobody out. Now he's on 3rd with one out. Ryan Howard is up. C'mon Ryno!! Bad move to keep howard in there. Would you want Joe Borchard up to bat with the tying run on second and less than 2 outs.
  6. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 8, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Wow....thats cold... at least it wasn't another bumped thread.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 8, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Yeah, really... I'd think 2 ER, 2 U-ER. It's three earned -- The only unearned was the guy who reached on Uribe's fielding error.
  8. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ May 8, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Just saw Crash with Ludacris, Matt Dillon, Don Cheadle, and Sandra Bullock tonite. One of the best movies with a spectacular message about racism and stereotypes. Perfectly written and acted I thought the viewpoints in this movie were very realistic. It is a must see, 4 star movie. Anyone else see it? and if not, do yourself a favor... I just heard about the movie last night. Definitely on my "must see" list.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 7, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) Next trivia question please? When was the last time the Sox didn't have a lead at some point in a game.
  10. Um TIMO?!?!? WTF? was that? I figured I could turn this into the beating a dead horse/ Calling people out for a single play thread.
  11. QUOTE(Brian @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) He was turning the ball over left and right. I know, but he's your best shooter. Where is he when you're down 3 with 10 seconds to go?
  12. Anyone know where Ben Gordon is? Scott Skiles can't seem to find him anywhere.
  13. Seriously where were you guys tonight.... I was there and the place was empty.
  14. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) f***, Cuba probably only has one stage in the whole country anyways. Yeah, and it's made out spare parts from early 1950's US automobiles.
  15. The funniest thing about his criticism is the "but who have they played?" dart in the wall. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi?sortColumn=sos Sure the sox have played a bunch of teams who have a losing record. Their Strength of Schedule ranks just 26th. The Cubs meanwhile, suck, and have a Strength of Schedule of........ Drumroll please..... 30th. Last in f***ing baseball.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Kenny-Get it Done. something along the lines of 3 years $13 million plus and team option for a 4th year would look good to me 06-$3.5 07-$4 08-$4.5 09-$5 with $1 buyout. I don't know if that will get it done... Damian Miller and AJ's replacement got 3/9M -- I don't think either of them are in AJ's range. And they're both significatly older. We got a break because the market bottomed out for AJ last season. The "cancer" tag drove the price through the floor. He probably would have commanded about $5M/yr before that. That's probably going to be the starting point with new contract.
  17. I picked El Duque. He hasn't just solidified the 5th spot. He's served as a mentor an calming influence on El Conde. Is it a coincidence that Contreras has been throwing better with El Duque in the dugout? I don't think so. I've seen him drop down side-arm and throw a variety of pitches from that arm angle. Who do you think is in his ear telling him to do that? It's not AJ or Coop, that's for sure. I don't think there was a better fit for this pitching staff than El Duque.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 5, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) The original "Catch the Pigeon" Hanna Barberra cartoon was "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" (which I wrote a song about once and still play on the rare occassions I play out anymore). The same basic premise was carried forward later in the 70's in "Wacky Races" and to a lesser extent in "Laff-A-Lympics." Dick Dastardly and Mutsy and their gang were the bad guys. I saw this topic this afternoon, and I couldn't figure out where I heard Penelope Pitstop before... I'm 25, that was before my time. I was racking my brain all night. I knew it was in a song. Cinco Margaritas later it finally came to me... Jurassic 5 - The Influence http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jurassic5/theinfluence.html
  19. Even I don't have a Timo Perez thread to showcase his prodigious out-making ability.
  20. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ May 4, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) So whats new? That's 2 more than our clean-up hitter has had over that stretch?
