  1. I tend to agree with you. So if you're the Yankees, and intend on resigning him, why bother declining his option? to save $2M? This is the yankees we're talking about. I just don't get it.

  3. Do a search in SLaP. I know it's been discussed here before.. I'm an eBay virgin though, so I can't really be of any help.
  4. I'd be a little worried to give him a long-term deal, even though he did prove his arm was healthy. Also I don't think he was their best pitcher. He's not a #1 or #2 starter anymore. What he is though is super consistent, a grinder, and a guy who you can count on every 5th day...Something this team has been lacking. I can't fathom Georgy boy finding a better replacement for $8M.

  6. Why? They don't have ANY worthwile programming on it anymore, without the Bulls/Sox/Cubs/Hawks... yipee on saturday I get some second rate Pac-10 football game. Color me unimpressed. FSN will be dropped completely within a year.
  7. Whatever. I keep hearing that the democratic party has to become more centrist, move farther right, but that's just not the case. A Majority of the world hates America, and a slim minority of America hates it's own government. This gloating that your favorite party has power only stokes the fire of hostility. There will be a backlash to the recent trend to the right, with it's freedom-for-some attitude. You can say they're out of touch with the "heartland", but by and large the democratic party is more in touch with the world in general. So there's four, or 8, or 12 more years of agression and intolerance draped in the cloak of patriotism. I can deal. Alienating yourself from part of the country may cost a few years in office, but that cost is far less than alienating yourself from rest of the free world.
  8. red = Universal heathcare, decriminalization of Marijuana, equal rights. Green = oppression in the name of the good book. and gun racks in cars.
  9. Yeah, Illustrating my point. The country was founded on religious freedom... yet they refuse to elect an official who practices a different religion than them. Jihad.
  10. I'd agree with you if he wasn't on a division rival, If he was a pitcher from the NL Centra, but he's not. He's on the three time defending division champion Minnesota Twins.

  12. I read that Cleveland would offer him a 2 year deal that would pay him $9M next season.
  13. From a blog and a NY Times Op/Ed piece
  14. I'm becoming increasingly conviced that this is Brando with a well played dose of sarcasm.

I think you have to put something about having a mullet for those to be rated highly.

    Beer Quiz!

Do you like the taste of yak's blood, vomit, or Coors Light? I hate Coors. -------- It didn't so much work for me. Sam Adams, not so much. Dos Equis, only at La Margaritas after 2AM Amber Bock, No why? Heineken, ewww Michelob, ??? Mikes Hard Lemonade, ??? isn't this a beer quiz.
  17. Did you notice the difference in the electoral college from 2000>2004? 8 EV's got moved from Blue states and ended up in Red states. California was the only blue state to gain an EV. 8EV's is more than the state of Iowa. foil hat>
  18. The DJ would be the 5th best SS on his team. He'd finish second in MVP voting and win another GG.
  19. I'd put money on him starting more games than Freddy Garcia next season.
  20. Nope it was on all major news organizations pages the night that it happened. It was taken by an AP photographer.
  21. Bringin' new meaning to the term "bubble gum pop"
  22. His running was largely selfish. He wanted to reach 20/20(which he failed to reach, as he did in 2001). This is the complaint with Carlos. There is no doubt in my mind that if he wanted to he could steal 25 bags a year. There is no doubt in my mind that if he wanted to he could have an OBP above .375. Carlos has a ton of talent. He is able to do so many things well, as evidenced by his singles laden 28 game hit streak, or his 13 HR(1.134OPS) July just after Maggs and frank went down, or his .407 OBP after the ASB in '02 when JM was in his ear before every AB telling him to be more patient, or his vastly improved defense. Carlos has a hard time staying focused. He wants to be considered a GG outfielder. He's taken pride in the effort that he's put in there. Sooner or later he'll get caught up in another aspect of his game (maybe the longball) and his defense and other areas will suffer.
