Help Wanted
Inspired by this article by Studes over at hardballtimes.com. Studes did a graphical representation of how each team in baseball produces runs. The White Sox have been amazingly clutch this season, second in the Majors in BA w/RISP, and that's the only thing that has saved them from competing with the Royals to avoid the Central Cellar. The problem is despite being clutch with men in scoring position, the Sox have the third fewest opportunities in baseball, last in the AL. As seen in this graph. Our OBP is about middle of the road in the AL, and is exactly in the middle of all of baseball. Here's what Studes had to say about the sox: So how do we reach scoring position more often? We need contact/OBP guys. Contact to ensure we can move guys over. OBP to reach base more often. (no more third worst in baseball.) At least 2 of the Konerko/Lee/Valentin/Uribe/Crede-Crew need to be gone, replaced with a guy who doesn't strike out much, can get on base, and move runners over, preferrably left handed, though not required. In short we need a more balanced line-up, and if it doesn't get addressed, we will not win the Central again next season.

Lineup Move
The sox #2 priority behind addressing the glaring hole @ #5 is increasing thier contact/obp.... I'll explain further in a separate post in a few minutes.

Lineup Move
Difference between borchard and carlos lee... Carlos batted 300 as a rook with no protection... The reason I wouldn't put Borchard #2 is that's a spot that he's never going to play. Any increase in his numbers would immediately disappear when he's subsequently dropped in the order...

Realization Is Sinking In
I looked at PA's (PA's, HR's) Ruth -- 10617, 714 = 1 every 14.87 PA's Aaron -- 13940, 755 = 1 every 18.46 PA's Bonds -- 11462, 696 = 1 every 16.46 PA's

Jaime Burke
Here's some advice to Jamie. Hold on to the ball on plays at the plate. Before the Torii Hunter mess I had my own personal tally of how many times he blew a play at the plate. 5 outs/runs he cost us prior to the Torii Hunter thing (which I have yet to see) cuz I was on Vacation.

Mike Jackson has been released
That should be qualified. MJ was a good Major league pitcher once. But his time has passed. It's sort of like saying I'm a better hitter than Ted Williams. It's true right now, but for most of time it's false.

Does Baj deserve a 40 man roster spot?
I would have liked to see more K's at AAA, but you can't argue with the results. Selfishly, I'd like to see him, just because I've never seen him before. He's honestly the only player I'd be excited to see in a call-up role. That being said, I'm pretty sure he's headed to the AFL, which may or may not effect his chances of being called up. MJ getting released is a good sign for Baj, though, IMO.

Frank Thomas -- He has a better arm than thriller.

It's taken you guys long enough.

2004 Sox Least Valuble Player
I'll get flamed for this but -- Timo Perez is the Answer... can explain in detail now -- tonight I'll get it.

2004 Sox MVP
Our Record without Frank speaks to his value to this team. Our OBP has gone from among the best in the league with him, to league worst w/o him in the line-up.

Joe Borchard
Nope we've been over that one before here.... April of 97 -- Less than 1000 fans. (I don't remember that one -- I think it might have been snowing) http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04090CHA1997.htm -- 746 fans

2004 Sox MVP
I think a solid case can be made for each guy on the list. Present your case.

Mike Jackson has been released
Neal Cotts is happy.

Mike Jackson has been released
It would open up an extra spot on the 40 man though, allowing one more call-up.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
That's a hollow argument when you realize that when Uribe was "hot" -- Maggs and Frank were in the lineup.

Weekly soxtalk league
12 players is way too much... In other keeper leagues I've heard of, they've had 3 or 5 players to keep.

Thankfully it was #2 on the list. I was a little worried, but they filter most of that stuff out.

It's amazing he can hit so many homers with Tim Kurkjan on his knob the whole time.
