  3. Coming into tonight's game, Frank had been to selective/patient with two out/runners on. He had come to the plate 23 times this season with 2 out RISP, and only com away with 2 hits. He did have 7 BB's though. But that's not the type of situation you are looking to take the walk. Maybe ozzie got to him.
  4. Frank has been f***ing Clutch tonight -- 3 2-out hits -- 5RBI
  5. Show is not being taken out, nor should he be -- 6 runs should be enough support -- 3 run lead id large enough to run him back out there -- He has battled for us before, and will do it again.
  6. He's also been a little shaky early in both of his last two starts... But he was able to settle down and get a good outing. I'm pretty sure he'll get through five, and probably even get run back out htere for the sixth...
  7. He's likely to throw 120+ pitches as long as he has the lead -- He's going to have to take one for the team... TO further answer your question, I think Jackson is the most underused guy in the pen and would be the first one trotted out there.
  8. 70 pitches in 3 innings --- Cleveland is doing something right.
  9. luckily I've never spent the money on that game -- Played the damn addicting demo a few times -- even won the WS , with the Sox -- But I don't really play computer games, at least not that I have to pay for.
  10. I was beginning to think I was the only one here.
  11. Murderer's Row Gload struck out swinging. Konerko struck out looking. Valentin fouled out to third.
  12. Cleveland had a good game plan there in the first -- They didn't really see many pitches yesterday from JG, today they are going up there and just taking, SS needs to recognize and take advantage.
  13. My decoder ring is broken -- I think I spilled some Yogurt on it -- Now it doesn't work. I've written an angry letter to the manufacturer and hope to be compensated for my lack of Hot Chick viewing.
  14. I've got to agree with Tex here. Like it or not, NASCAR is the best marketed entertainment(sport) bar-none. Advertisers wet them selves for chance to be paraded around a circular track 250 times on the hood of a car. Not to mention upon completion of the race, each driver goes into a used-car-salesman-like speech about how great thier sponsors are. The promotional opportunities are endless. I'd say the next best sport at marketing is Football, and they thrive on an opposite stance that Nascar does. They want the Athletes to remain anonymous and sell the team as a brand, the league as a brand. NASCAR wants to sell the individual, sell the car, they even sell the owners & crew chiefs. Nascar has rendered the Open wheeled racing curciut a minor leaegue -- NASCAR is to CART/IRL what NFL is to Arena Football. --

  16. I've thought at length about this very thing -- In 2002 Foulke had a bad month. (8.10ERA for the month of May) and really only one TERRIBLE outing. He had 2 losses and 1 blown save that month (He only blew 3 saves on the year) -- There was a 1 month span during his time here where his Changeup was terrrible, and his FB was not stellar (a dead arm period), and he gave up some 5HR's during a stretch of 12 outings because hitters were able to sit on one pitch or the other -- He came back from that and threw lights out the rest of the season, but at that point, after 3 Blown Saves, we had given up on him -- This is my main indictment of JM/KW/Whitesox fans -- Everyone is going to have some blown saves and some struggles -- The Yanks lost a WS because Rivera couldn't close out a game 7. -- I think that Sox fans in general have to lofty of expectations out of all of thier players, the result is we are searching for a scapegoat. In May of 2002 it was Foulke. He lost his closers job, even though he was still the best pitcher out of the pen in the second half. But KW/JR/JM & us had called for his head -- I wasn't one of those (though I'm probably biased as Foulke was definitly my favorite pitcher) He was practically run out of town, and we porclaimed Koch as our new savior. We overlooked his high WHIP or his ERA higher than Foulke even though we had just ran foulke out of town. My point is through all this rambling, (This isn't directed at you, but at everyone as a whole) We are too quick to give up on players... We are too quick to annoint the next coming of Cy Young and the Babe. I think White Sox fans in general have too lofty of expectations. Especially for our closers. Mariano Rivera blew 7 saves in 2001 as did Kaz Sasaki -- Niether were run out of town. They were back to blow 4 and 8 saves respectively, (rivera missed part of the season due to injury)-- I'd be very interested to hear the reaction around here if we had a guy do that -- For the record, Marte Blew 7 games last season, and leads the majors in Blown Saves this season, yet he's not Enemy #1 -- We are a fickle group who chose to throw our support wildly at some and just as wildly throw out wrath at others... I, for one, have been very conscience of my critisism of Koch. I didn't want him on "my team", but I'm stuck with him, so I'm going to support him while he's here. Good Job tonight BK.
  17. Nuke --- You could make a case for JG being our best starter over the last year -- Take a look at the stats for the last 28 starts Last 28 Starts Pitcher IP ERA Loaiza 181.2 3.72 Buerhle 188.1 3.73 Garland 180 3.95
  18. Interesting who has had "back spasms" this week-- Barry -- Missed last 3 games (back spasms) Sam-me -- Missed last game -- not in line-up tonight (back spasms) Giambi -- DTD (back spasms) :headshake
  19. Super stopped by last night (around midnight?) -- I think he made one post, that was it.

    "Whiplash"

I got rearended a few years ago -- same situation. I was stopped he was doing 45 or so -- I felt fine that night. Didn't think anything of "whiplash". The next day I was slightly sore, but no big deal. Two days after the accident was when it hit me. I was in alot more pain than I was the day after. It was bearable, but there's no way I would have thought I was going to be that sore when I felt fine immediately after the accident, and only a little sore the day after. In short, I didn't really believe in "whiplash" until my accident. You may wanna go get checked out by a doctor, especially if it continues to get worse -- I was an ignorant 21 YO w/o health insuranse at the time. I wouldn't have gone to the doctor unless I lost a limb, and probably only if it was my right arm -- I was fine after a few days with no lingering effects, but if I had known that I was going to be as sore as I was for a few days, I would have at least gotten some good drugs...

Ever since flame-thrower Ricky Vaughn emerged from the Cleveland Indians' bullpen to the strains of Wild Thing in the 1989 movie Major League, baseball's top relievers have been identified as much with their theme songs as with their on-field success.
