Wood out for possibly a month
Gene Honda Civic replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I tried to do a search -- I can't find it, but I know I said both would be on the DL this season, and that Zambrano would be thier most valuable pitcher and win the most games sometime this offseason. -
I was thinking about this last night -- There is a real possibility that at least two of the following three are gone next season. Maggs -- No more O-E-O chant Pauly -- No more Pauly, Pauly, Pauly Lee -- No more El Caballo There is even a very slim chance that none will be on the Southside next year.

Priceless.

Yes -- And I'm not even on the Garcia bandwagon. Also, I think Rauch is being shopped -- We would try to put him into most any deal tht gets done.

The must hand those things out like candy out there. Seriously though, Congratulations.

Has AROW earned another look?
Gene Honda Civic replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Aaron has earned the right to play CF and hit #2 against lefties -- He has thrived in the #2 hole in the past, and has done the same this season. vs. RHP vs. LHP Willie Harris 2B/CF Juan Uribe 2B/SS Juan Uribe 3B/2B Rowand CF Magglio RF Magglio RF Frank DH Frank DH Carlos Lee LF Lee LF Valentin SS Konerko 1B Konerko/Gload 1B Valentin SS Timo/Rowand (CF) Crede 3B/Willie 2B Olivo/Alomar C Olivo/Alomar C -
What would it cost to get Garcia? Well, What woud other teams who are interested be willing to part with? -- The Yanks are currently the only team I've heard that is as interested as us in getting Garcia NOW. All they have in the minors is a Catcher who is years away from the bigs. With only two real players (ChiSox, Yanks) there's not much they can get for Garcia rigth now. So until more players come into the fold, which will happen as some teams heat up/cool off and we get closer to the trade deadline, The Mariner are going to hold onto Garcia and wait for the market to pick up.

Post hot chicks pics in here
Gene Honda Civic replied to whitesoxfan99's topic in How Does That Work?
better save those pictures of Lohan for future reference -- She's going to blow up to be somethin' huge -- I see Carnie Wilson in her future. -
There is no reason to think that all of them, if they make the ML, will be playing in the outfield. I envision a time where it's likely that they will be playing 1B, DH, or the OF -- That is another reason to keep around Borchard, He may end up as our 1B or DH.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=1713129 Kip avoided arbitration this year. They're not going to be looking to move him at all -- He won't command too much more than his current salary in each of the next two seasons, and theres still a possibility that they could lock him up long term on the cheap.

Never has such an accurate comparison been made--- 2004 Reds (24-18) Runs Scored: 197 Runs Allowed: 206 2003 Royals (83-79) Runs Scored: 836 Runs Allowed: 867 Those number don't add up.

Well for right now, I stand pat. -- I know KW is working the phones. After this offseason where KW wouldn't make a move just for the sake of making a move, he gained a ton of respect from me. I know now that KW will no longer mortgage the future of the franchise. So I have faith in him. As rex said before the Sox may be going to a 4 man rotation until June 13 when this becomes an issue again. I think they may throw Cotts one more time out there(saturday is rumored). I'd have him throw again on Tuesday to set himself up for that -- Then, I wait until June -- More teams will be out of the race by then. There will be more players available -- Garcia may be the guy. I may even be willing to part with Lee at that point, but never in combination with Borchard -- For right now, I just don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, perse.

Prior to spring training I thought Rauch was going to nail that spot down. I've was wrong, but not by much. Hear me out here. Rauch has been pitching well again at AAA -- International League » Charlotte Knights 4/8 to 5/20 W L SV ERA G IP H R ER BB KO HR 5 2 0 3.10 9 49.1 37 19 17 18 39 7 He pitched well there last year. International League » Charlotte Knights 04/05 to 08/30 2003 W L SV ERA G IP H R ER BB KO HR 7 1 0 4.11 24 124.2 121 60 57 35 94 16 So the question is, Why isn't he the universal choice to fill the 5th spot? Here's where it's time to get out the tin foil hats. --- Rauch has not been allowed to work deep into any game this season. He's averaging just over 5 innings per start. Why isn't he working deeper? --- There's only two logical explinations for why a guy who should be close to the major leagues is being held with such a short leash. 1)There is some sort of underlying injury (Rex has hinted at this) or 2) He is being babied to protect his trade value. He's not the answer at the #5 spot, but maybe he can help get us one through a trade. The second is my pet conspiracy theory. Maybe the Higer-ups in the White Sox organization have told the guys at Charlotte to pull Rauch late in games to protect his ERA from himself -- They could also be setting hiim up for some Bullpen/long relief stuff, but that's not exactly what I think a minor league player of the year whould bwe used for. Just my radical theory -- Take it for what it's worth, which probably isn't much.

It doesn't compare well with any of our starters away from USCF though Pitcher Road ERA Home ERA Garland 2.57* 4.28 Schoeneweis 2.48 4.82 Buerhle 2.31 5.00 Loaiza 3.79 4.67 Garcia 3.72 2.00 *Does not include todays start -- Ok I didn't want to seem like I was manipulating numbers, so I crunched them myself -- JG's New Road ERa is 3.85, still less than his ERA at home -- So what can we expect from garcia if he were to wear black on the soutside? I think every home start would be an adventure -- Just like Loaiza's have become, as he's had problems with the longball at USCF this season(7 HR's in 27IP compared to 3 in 35.2 on the road). Again -- I'm not ripping Garcia, I'd be downright giddy if we had a starting five with JG, MB, SS, EL, and Freddy Garcia -- I just don't wanna give up the farm to get a guy who may not be suited to play in our park.

I thought that was Ryan Seacrest I Only caught about 5 minutes though
-
I was going to show you the stats that say that it's the best place to play rowand, but I was too lazy -- I guess he showed you anyways.
-
Yeah he got healthy -- He had the hamstring injury to start the season, then his back was bothering him -- Like I said earlier, I had listened to two games eearlier this week, and JB was flying all over the field, 3 infiled singles in a game, stealing bases, diving catches in the outfield --

I like Rick Rielly and Barry Rozner.

While I would certainly welcome Garcia on the Sox, His numbers away from Safco Field have been anything but dominating. Home (4 starts) 2.00ERA .197BAA Away (4 starts) 3.74ERA .274BAA Most Disturbing is his GB/FB ratio -- 74/72(1.03) would not cut it in USCF. Garland(1.20), Buerhle(1.33), Loaiza(1.19), and Schoeneweis(1.28) all have better ratios. Hell even Neal Cotts has a better GB/FB ratio than does Garcia. All four of the Sox starters have a better ERA&BAA away from home -- USCF(especially with the new roof) is a hitters park. To succeed there, you have to keep the ball down and get the ground ball -- Garcia is a good pitcher, but he's not the best fit on the southside. Again, I'd welcome him to the southside, but his ERA would take a beating if he keeps throwing those flyballs at USCF

yes -- It's FieldTurf
-
it's only 2 officially -- Offense trying to put 'em back in it -- Homers by Olivo and Uribe

Hey, I actually know where you're talking about -- I camped there one night, right next to the little creek that I'm sure has left it's banks to cover the baseball diamond.

First of all Borchard still as too much potential to give up on -- Especially considering the $5.3MIL price tag he brought just to sign him -- Second, While I would certainly welcome Garcia on the Sox, His numbers away from Safco Field have been anything but dominating. Home (4 starts) 2.00ERA .197BAA Away (4 starts) 3.74ERA .274BAA Most Disturbing is his GB/FB ratio -- 74/72(1.03) would not cut it in USCF.
