You missed a good time -- There was MAYBE 2000 people there when the game finished -- Detroit opened up a 10-1(?) lead on the sox. I stayed. Watched us come all the way back within a run in the bottom of the ninth, with HR's by Everett and Lee -- I don't remeber that being the first week after the all star break though.

Thanks Rex -- That's pretty much what I had remembered -- I just remember a monster ERA in April, then I watched it fall all year. My point was that because of those four outings/ his slow start last season. He was able to fly under the radar -- When he was in camp last year he was a 1-pitch pitcher, that doesn't mean he only had one pitch -- He just relied heavily on his Curve. He had only one "out" pitch -- He had just come off of, as rex pointed out, lots of innings in Winter ball, where he dominated. Maybe the being close to making the Big Club, or rather the letdown that followed, contributed to his slow start. As Jason wrote in a piece for Futuresox, the move from pen was not neccessarily one that meant they were converting him into a starter, but rather a means to get him to work on his other pitches. -- The move to the rotation, has no doubt made him a more effective pitcher, in whatever role that he is put into.

I don't know how he does it, or rather why it happens. -- It's gotten passed the point of just being a statistical anomoly. It looks to me that in April and August he has "drive the ball to all fields" mentality -- He hits a lot of doubles, most likely due to not over swinging or trying to pull the ball. That results in balls sprayed into the gaps -- I guess once he gets going good like that, he starts to narrow his approach, and try to pull the ball, and hit it out. He strikes out more and turns over on balls resulting in weak drounders and DPs.

I got really drunk because of that game -- I remember that My girlfriend wanted to drag me to see some local cover band, and I didn't wanna go until after the game was over, which since the game was on the west coast meant I wouldn't have to listen to a crappy cover band screech out the lastest CrapRock from the top 40. But the Sox decided not to show up, so I gathered me earplugs and headed off to the bar--- It was 10-0 when we got there, and we decided that we had to finish our drink, or do a shot for every run the Angels scored, It was still on a TV burried in the back of the bar -- It was 18-0 before we knew what hit us. -- Luckily I lived close enough to stagger home without the aid of a motor vehicle.

Munoz has been streaky in his career -- If I'm not mistaken I remember him posting a miniscule ERA in Winterball or AFL a while back, and then nearly making the big club in ST as a lefty specialist, losing out to Marte and Wunch, when he was optioned to the minors he got lit up early on. -- He was money for the last 4+ Months of the season though again -- He could be the real gem of an arm in the sox system.

Well I missed most of this series, thankfully. I knew I could count on Brando to bring this thread back up, If He hadn't I would have... 8 runs in Canada, even with the favorable(?) exchange rate, just doesn't cut it. #5,6,7 hitters are all below .250 -- We don't have enough pitching to win with that -- Konerko hasn't gone the other way since the first week, 3K's and GIDP :headshake --

Saturday News and Notes From Louisville
Gene Honda Civic replied to Chisoxfn's topic in FutureSox Board
There may be something wrong with his arm, he hasn't been going deep into games at all this yeear. I'd like to see wright in the pen though. -
I'm sure that one AB he got in 1988 really factored in his descision.... I was a year off... I knew he was rookie of the year in 90, so I subtracted 2004-1990, but that leaves one year unaccounted for.
-
I didn't hear DJ question it... But I immediatley blamed Alomar... Neal may have missed his spot, but Alomar made a mound visit and convinced Neal that the Change was the pitch to throw. I don't know any rookies that are going to question the a 14 year veteran in a situation like that.... Again Neal threw the pitch, but that selection showed me why Miguel Olivo was second in the AL in catchers ERA last season, and sandy was not.
-
Neal may have learned that today -- But the person you really have to question is Sandy --- He came out for a mound visit just before that pitch, maybe Neal got the pitch location wrong, but Sandy used his 14 years of ML experience to call that one right there.

very lean -- don't overcook it or it WILL be dry.

There was a shooting at the Cubby Bear:
Gene Honda Civic replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The brief bit that I heard on the score seemed to be good coverage: They were grilling some guy who was almost condoning the actions the idiot took... he was saying he would have gotten out and confronted the bat wielding drunk also. The people on the score recognized the newspaper coverage -- They both said that it was on the front page of the Metro section, but not THE Front page, in the Trib. -

This just in! Eddie Guardado cheats!
Gene Honda Civic replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I hate this cheating idiot. Bar him from the game now. Once a twin always a twin I guess. Not only do we lose but we're back in second place. It's all Kelly Dransfelt fault too! DEMOTE HIM NOW! -
Oh I'm bumping that thread.

POsted this thougth in the other thread, but some don't go over there... Spiderman no doubt signed a contract with baseball. They could hold baseball to the contract if they felt like it. But since all publicity is good publicity, the beating that MLB was taking in the media, which mentioned Spiderman 2 everytime, was well worth the money that exchanged hands. Therefore Spiderman had already got what it wanted, hell MLB got what it wanted. Everyone goes home happy. No need to continue taking a beating in the press, and with fans, as there comes a point where publicity can really be BAD, and they make an anouncement that there will be NO anvertising. I'm just surprised it came so quickly. I would have wiated til monday. We would have forgotten about it by then.

KW going after Freddy Garcia again...
Gene Honda Civic replied to RudyLawRules's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have no Idea what is wrong with that guy... He's always been flat out nasty against us... There may be something wrong with his arm, as last year he put a lot more innings on his arm than in the past. -
KW going after Freddy Garcia again...
Gene Honda Civic replied to RudyLawRules's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really was on board the garcia rumors this offseason... Though I think Garcia has more value now than he did then... He's pitched really well all season.... I'd love to see him on the southside, so long as we keep the "untouchables" (reed,Honel,Anderson) -
PA -- I woulda helped if I could, but I just plain don't know Photoshop at all... I'm really good with a magnetic lasso and thats about it.

I'm sure that wright wasn't in the game, Mentally. There is a good chance that he will never see a Sox uniform again. I hope that's not the case thuogh... Let the transition begin. -- Convert him to a closer.

yes, but didn't Spiderman still get thier money's worth. Tons of free publicity.
