The RPI is so much better than the BCS.... In college basketball, teams play over 30 games, compared to about 12 in Football. So what you see right now with st. Joe's on top , 14 games in to the season, is something that would happen in football, but with more than half the season to play, teams like Kentucky, and Michigan St, who play ridiculously tough schedules will move up the Rankings. Also, St. Joe's will fall because they are goig to be playing the A-10, not as good as the SEC,ACC, or even the Big Ten. Given enough time, the RPI is a highly accurate, useful tool for evaluating college basketball teams.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I just noticed the PhD talk from tex... A friend of mine went to ND to be a teacher, After graduation, he is in Mississippi, 50th in pretty much everything education wise in the US, on a program that provided a teacher spend 3 years in thier system, they got the masters education for free. The hope was that they would get good teachers initially, and may be able to retain a few of them...

Notes from the JA Q&A: JA isn't half the public speaker that Lovie is said He had comtrol of final 53 players said that was an issue with some candidates essentially dispelled the Blache situation-- said he allowed him to interview with anyone-- I don't believe him money was not the issue with Saban... he made it sound like he offered him Mucho $$$... made it sound like Saban wanted control of player/personnel issues. said Lovie has FULL control over his staff said he wasn't a control freak ---- Isues I had hoped would be covered but weren't--- Major free agents/ spots to fill The draft -- i was hoping he would tip his hand about what he feels is a major need

I lost my connection... I've missed a lot after my last post.... I can say that I wasn't a fan of the hire before the press conference... But Lovie addressed every question I had. And I have full confidence in the abilities of the organization to give him the pieces to get this team back on top.... Go Bears You can hear his reverence for Tony Dungy in his voice, in every answer. It's refreshing to see. Tony is a great coach, who probably doesn't get the gredit he deserves.... The defending SuperBowl champs were essentially his team.-- his current team is playing arguably the best football of any team right now. I liked what he said about developing both offensive and defensive lines. Developing Rex. Getting a guy to help Develop rex, and other young player. --- said he would talk to every single person still on the staff... He wants the best possible coaching staff... Lovies done --- Good Hire JA... JA's going to talk now.
-
Some highlights of the press conference: Team Goals 1) Beat Green Bay 2) Win the Division 3) Super Bowl Offense--- Wants to run a style of offense like KC, STL, and INDY... Lots of formations motion.. create defense confusion Defense--- Run Tampa/Indy style defense -- cover 2/ rush the passer. In the Q&A session (going on right now) I'll give updates He indicated that they had guys in mind for both DC and OC --- just getting permission..Didn't name anyone specifically Indicated preference to coaches with bears connection (that was in response to a question about singeltary though) I don't think any formers bears are up for coordinators

Blache's fate was decided sometime on Mondayor Tuesday... Here's how I think it went -- (this is pure speculation by me) -The Bears had denied, or at least delayed, his ability to interview for the Minnesota DC job. -- that's fact. -Then Grimm was interviewed -Angelo Realizes Grimm's not the guy, but puts on a good show, he doesn't want to hurt Grimm's future job prospect, or his own relationship with anyone else in the sport -Angelo calls lovie -- He interviews the next day -Blache is granted permission and does interview in Pittsburg. At the same time that Lovie is being Iterviewed. From this, purely speculative timeline, you can glean one of two things. 1)Angelo didn't want Blache back, but didn't want him at another division foe. (not that likely) 2)Lovie wants to install his own coaches. (Highly probable)

great stuff jason, thanks... Where do you get you bears info? I know some around here want Linehan, but I don't think we have the right personnel for his offense. Though the vike do seem to be able to run the ball, most of randy moss's TD's came from about the 50 yard line. I don't know if we have the recievers to throw bombs and jump balls in every offensive series. Also, I posted a link to the press conference @ 2PM(Chicago time) in the other Bears coach thread

i ran out of green ink... sorry i thought it was obvious

that's because I'm sure he's to busy being a schill for his version of "crappy reality television" -
Yeah I heard manhattan was sold for $26 beads... and Alaska for $7.2 MIL... I think they overpaid

It's a good thing your opinion doesn't actually count in the bears descision making then... Blache is a master a motivator... his players LOVE him... They would run through a wall for the guy. I don't know if he presents like a Head coach, with the crooked hat, and eccentric colloquialisms. But he is among the best DC's in the league. That being said I would have liked to see the bears get more pressure. But if you don't have the guys to create pressure, like the bears, you're not going to have sucess in the NFL. Just think how many more tackles/sacks urlacher would have had if Washington was still with the club. I think a telling thing about Blache's chances is that the bears didn't grant permission for him to talk to anyone until Monday, after the Minnesota DC job was filled, and likely after JA had talked to Lovie about the DC job. He interviewed in Pittsburgh, and could interview in KC and Buffalo by the end of the week. I don't really think the DC is a big deal with Lovie here... We need a bright Offensive mind. One who establishes O-line continuity, guides Rex through his first season as a starter, throws the ball 7 yards on 3rd&5, not 3 yards.

Anyone catch the news conference today??? I just wondered what Lovie had to say. Specifically about the Coordinators.

This thread is like an old friend. Even though you may not see each other for quite some time, you always pick right back up where you left off. -
Ok so maybe it's a joke, but what else do we have to be excited about around here.

The Peter Gunn Theme is one of the best songs ever. I've heard countless versions of it... Even a reggae version It predates the bond musc... Peter Gunn was on in the Late fifties....Dr.No, the first bond movie, wasn't until the early sixties. Only version of Peter Gunn I could find... It's a pretty very low quality

What I don't understand is why this was an arrestable offense. I can give president Bush the finger and I'm not going to get arrested... Why all the Hubbub?

I'm too all over the board politcally... for instance i dislike affirmitive action. While I acknowledge the benefits/need for such a program, the implementation of said program is almost always flawed. So where do I vote for that one... No candidate scored higher than 40% by my voting.

Click Don't save option Don't let the media tell you who to vote for... Let a quiz tell you Seriously-- this is an interesting place to learn where the candidates stand on al ot of issues.
