Nah they'll go the other route... barely get in... One of the last teams into the tourney, a 10-12 seed... and make a run to the sweet 16. My predictions look fairly good... the one team I really missed out on i think was Stanford.. They are going to be a force.
-
bring up the prediction thread... I had 'em in the final four

only if they make him resign somehow... He's too expensive to buy out... I think he may have as many as 7 years left on a contract.
-
Game over... ISU outhustled Iowa in the last few minutes.

Man Soo lee is Korean, if I remember correctly. That's not much help when Shingo is speaking Japanese.

Bears Hire Shea as their new OC
Gene Honda Civic replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Here's a transcript from a conference call with the Bears new OC, Shea. I like what I hear. Super Bears, Super Bowl -
It's not on here... ESPN fullcourt if you've got it... I'm listening to the Iowa st. radio feed online... 2 point lead Iowa St... They're getting outhustled by the Hawks in the second half though... The winner of this game puts themselves with a good chance to make the tourney.

I'm listening to it... I thought it started at 8 though... I missed the first half..

Grinell isn't able to attract the athletes that other colleges are, so thier basketball coach has implemented a program to make the team competitive... By running, and throwing up 3 pointers. Shooting 50% for the game is a good standard, a high standard, but this is what the principle is based on... If team A takes nothing but 2 point shots making half of them, and team B takes nothing but 3 pointers, team B would only have to shoot above 33% to win the game, assuming the same number of shots... Basically they exploit 3 point line, the advantage of taking more 3point shots.

Bears Hire Shea as their new OC
Gene Honda Civic replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
So far I like both the HC and OC hires the bears have made... I think rivera could be a good fit @ DC... That staff i'd be happy with. Now if they somehow make good moves in the FA and draft... the bears could be going somewhere next year. -
Wouldn't you think that Al queda (sp) and Osama should be at the forefront of that discussion. No he spent time talking about Steroids instead.
-
yeah, but he'd still be strung out looking for his next fix of the s***.

Bears to Interview Rivera Today
Gene Honda Civic replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Frazier is already a DC in Cincinnati.... Rivera would be a good hire... i think he interviewed in Buffalo the other day IIRC. He will definately be making the rounds, and will land a DC job this year. -
I was replying to a responce in the State of the Union thread, and I got completely side tracked. I was thinking about the whole process by which we elect a president, and thinking what a terrible system we have... Read on I think I have some valid points, this goes across party lines. ********************************************** Here's what I don't get about the whole process.... The US population is over 292 MIL people... The record participation for voters in the Iowa caususes was in 1988 when less than 250,000 votes were cast... But in that year there was both republican and democratic candidates... in order to participate in a primary you must be a registered voter. and be registered with one party... You can't vote across party lines... So about half of the 250,000 people were allowed to participate this year... So about 125,000 peoples opinions, that's .04% of the population, is all we'll here about for the next two weeks. When we have another really small state (NH), who usually is so progressive that they don't represent the etire country accurately at all, and thier .04%* of the population,(* this number may not be accurate, but I'm done researching) whittling out more candidates. I am a registered voter, but have no true party ties... I've voted democrat, independant, and Green parties.. I would say that I fall in the "Undecided" category. Now the Undecided voters are the ones who actually DECIDE the election. But doesn't this process eliminate the true undecided voter? Why does such a small sample of ONLY one state, which only has 7 (NH had 4 in 2000) electoral votes, go so far in determining who will come to represent the Democratic party, and untimately decide the presidency? Notice all of the first primaries are from the small states, the ones with few electoral votes... Isn't this an artificial way inflating one portion of the countries influence on the rest? The media plays far too large of a roll in this whole game.... I understand there is a need to report on the winners and losers, but the whole psychological effect that the reporting creates.... Reports were that Kerry had an almost 10% surge in popularity in New Hampshire. Why? because he won in Iowa. Now it's likely that he will be able to carry that momentum into NH, SC and eventually through a war of attrition, (candidates who do well in the polls get more money) he will likely end up with the democratic nomination. Nobody wins the nomination in these small first primaries, but the nomination can certainly be lost(Gephardt). So again I ask WHY? Why do we let such a small sample of people control who is going to represent such a large number of people. Remember in 2000 more than 50% of the people did not vote for Bush, he didn't even have the most votes. The entire system needs to be challenged.

With the 14th pick.....
Gene Honda Civic replied to MurcieOne's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm in.... I think maybe what we should do first is just have a roll call... And list your favorite teams, the ones you are most knowledgable about... For me that would be the Bears and Colts.... I know there's lots of fans for both of those teams here... I think whereever possible we should have the most knowlegable person pick for each team, but for the rest, I think it should just be random. -
Real live Beavis More of Beavis He just made me laugh... And he is ghastly...

for those critisizing all the democrats, and thier speech patterns... I'm not watching anymore so I can't say how bad it is... But the one thing I noticed was that Bush has actually become a good public speaker, he's no Clinton, but remember this guy couldn't teach a HS History class when he took office, so being able to command attention, and sound somewhat intelligent is quite an accomplishent.
-
then why did bush also say "america and (lists a bunch of nations) acted in course with the United Nations".... He's flat out lying in one of those statements. So either we got permission from the UN. As he first said... Which is a lie. Or "we don't need a permission slip"... we can blow up anyone we damn well please.... Voilating the Geneva convention to do so. Oh yeah and by the way, North Korea you better not have Nukes or blow you up too. Isn't that the definition of oppression?

They were probably quite a distance from them...

currently the only excersize I'm getting is of the 12 oz. curl variety. I get in some 16 and 23 oz. excersizes occasionally, when I get draft beer. I marked over 7 though..... Last year I put 3500 Miles on my bicycle... Hope to do more this year... My real goal is to one year put more miles on my bike than on my car. Once the weather heats up and the roads get a little clearer, I'm on the bike whenever I have free time.

Look like MicroSoft didn't like all the bad pub they were getting. We're sorry.

yeah that's the info that I got with the longer video... but it was speculation so I didn't post it.
